  • This is how I clean my windshield glass like a professional. The glass is as perfect as it is going to get with this method.
    I cleaned the glass with Griots Garage Glass Cleaner and their pfm microfiber towels. If the glass had embedded contaminates use a clay bar. I used a synthetic glass from Griots Garage. The lubricant I used was Speed Shine and the lubricity of it was excellent. Next I used a fine glass polish to get as smooth as a surface as possible on my 6 inch polisher. I wiped off the glass polish and cleaned again with my glass cleaner. I applied a glass sealant with a microfiber applicator pad. I cleaned the wiper blades with a rubber cleaner and used a vinyl and rubber dressing to protect them. I wiped off the glass sealant to finish up.

    You won’t see contamination on the synthetic clay as it does not absorb contamination like traditional clay does. The contamination is suspended in the lubricant you use.

    Just got that glass kit in the mail, looking forward to trying it out. followed all the youtube stuff to polish my car last fall and it still looks pretty good, this year I am ready to try to handle some scratches I left alone with point fixing methods. Last year after I did a bunch of compounding and polishing, I went after the windshield with 1) box of fresh razors, 2) 30% vinegar, 3) CLR. I was pulling goo off of razor blades for like 2 hours, huffing vinegar rags, etc. I got it looking ALOT better but I don't think its a substitute for true glass polish. Man if you don't think you need a polish, wash your car, get a fresh razor from a nice new box and run it along the soapy windshield and see if you can pull out a buncha shit off the razor.. it should run smooth but for me it was like running it on sand paper lol

    Buy the Bosch icon wiper blades and you won't have to do anything to them but use them. On top of that, one pair can last for years.

    nice video , a little note to remember is the synthetic clay you used is a very effective tool , however before ever using it on paint its best to "break in" the clay on glass or you can actually transfer some of the black synthetic on to your paint. Better safe than sorry. Otherwise great video , if i were you tho i would have went the ceramic route on the glass . Reason being is if you use alot of wiper fluid it will eat away at the sealant and it wont last very long at all because of the alcohol based nature of it.

    • @AutOdometer

      dont you need to be certified for ceramic coatings?

    • @joerossi4231
      @joerossi4231 4 роки тому +2

      AutOdometer certified? Absolutely not. Being shown or trained how the process works is a plus. Check out FicTech Car Lift , it’s a ceramic coating for your windshield . Basically you would do everything you did but instead of the sealant you used , you would just use the ceramic. Super simple to apply . Just did it myself this weekend .

      Joe Rossi good to know thank you. How long does this sealant last?

    • @joerossi4231
      @joerossi4231 4 роки тому

      @@AutOdometer not a sealant , its a ceramic coating and it could last up to a year or longer. good thing is to is the little bottle will last you a long time.

      Joe Rossi sry I meant this sealant I used in the video? My understanding was that sealants (synthetic waxes) last 9-12 months.

    • @blitzdestroyer51
      @blitzdestroyer51 3 роки тому +1

      Since it’s synthetic clay you can literally just rinse it off to clean it so you might as well you don’t necessarily have to but quick rinse to clean it so why not

    Wd40 on microfiber is all you need to clean windshield wipers (Wd40 stands for water displacement formula 40), will agree with another commenter that ceramic typically lasts longer than sealant.

    Some have used 91% IPA [ alcohol ] and 50 distilled water to clean windshield . I would have cleaned the windshield first with carwash soap , rinised , dried and then used the spray cleaner . And maybe to do that again to completely remove the polish , particles , etc then onto applying the sealant .

      Dawn dish soap + 30% distilled vinegar is another good cheap alternative for cleaning windows. As a long haul trucker I often times have to clean my windows 2-4 times a day. Just take a typical 1 liter/1 quart spray bottle, add about a tablespoon or two of dawn, 1/4 cup of vinegar, then fill the rest of it up with water, and shake vigorously. The dawn helps to lubricate and break down grease, oil, road grime, or bugs. The Vinegar helps to loosen and breakdown minerals and reduces water spots.
      Car windows, house windows, showers, tile floors, it works great all over the place. Plus it's cheap making it from concentrates so you can go nuts with it.
      I'd just avoid using anything with vinegar in it on polished metals, as it's acidic. So it can accelerate the oxidation process and cloud it up before long.

      @@Demonoid1990 I would think the best rain repellent on all your windows would be a great benefit , they even have ceramic based ones for more durability .
