Dude this was a great comparison! I didn't realize how much Zen has improved over the gens. Right now the 7600X is effectively a $600+ upgrade when you account for the platform. By the time the 3600 and 5600X really start showing their age, I imagine AM5 will be mature and newer Zen processors with their V-cache variants will be out. That's probably the best time to upgrade for most gamers

I think one of the key datapoints missing in most reviewers, is the 1% and .1% lows on the final comparisons. It would be really useful to see how much, on average of all games, you improve on the most important stutter metrics

    • @FJaypewpew
      @FJaypewpew Рік тому +9

Fantastic point, however it is normally very easy to see results but not understand or /feel/ them in regards to the lows
At most it is a single sentence in the review and at most it is someone saying “1%lows were higher which led to a much smoother gaming experience overall” which is effective whether your avg fps is 70 or 270
I reckon a comment on the 1%low is a great idea if only to start the conversation in the F P S and performance zeitgeist, to use big nerd words.

@@dokidoki5850 frame rate is not always smooth. 1% lows average the frame rate of the lowest 1% to show if there may be stutter. Eg. If you average 80fps but your 1% lows are 30fps you may perceive a stutter effect in the game. This was prevalent in the sli days as 2 GPUs could drastically increase frame rates but would induce a nasty stuttering effect. Which is one of the many reasons it fell out of favor.

I don't include it because not all of my tests measure 1% lows, so it wouldn't be fair to compare it to the average unless I just skipped the games that don't measure them. That said, that was not the case with this specific game selection, so I guess I could have, but it's the reason I usually don't. In any case, the data is all there for you to work it out :)

From a value perspective, 5600(X) destroys the 7600X by a huge margin, especially in non-US countries, where 7600X is literally double the price - without even accounting for the total platform cost. So no, you have to be pretty much dumb to ever consider this as an option, either get a 5600/5700X on the cheap, 5800X3D for games or 7900X/7950X for the "all-out" builds.
Or even better, waiting for Raptor Lake one month is worth it IMO.
Oh, and granted, if you don't have a high-end GPU, the difference is even lower.

I use Ryzen AM4, 5600x with 6900XT for my main PC at (1440p, 144hz ultra wide) and and 3400G with 5700XT for the HTPC (1080p, 60hz projector) so it will probably be a few more years before I need to look at AM5 since the 5800X3D will be the cheapest upgrade path for the gaming PC, and I can use the 5600x on the HTPC and move the 3400G to the media/ file server which is currently running on a old Synology potato.
At the moment the HPTC is just for playing Plex and emulation of my old PS2 and Wii U games so they never go over 60 fps anyway and the 3400G + 5700XT is already more than enough for that and won't need an upgrade for a long time.

I dont regret getting a 7000 series cpu. Yes they run pretty hot but holy crap they are fast af. They completely destroy threadripper cpus from 1st and 2nd gen.

The 5800 and 5700 would have +12-15 percent uplift.

The advantage CPU's like the 5600x is that it shines where lesser and some more expensive cpu's fail, in games that utilize higher core counts. Although its only a 6 core cpu, they are powerful and outperform some cpu's like the 10900 in certain situations. Right now you can pick up a 5600x for $150 usd.

I can get a 7600x for $200, buttttttttt 2 things - I can't find a satisfactory affordable motherboard of my liking and best thing = I got more then 1 water cooler and 2 AMD coolers that were made for socket AM4, but they might not be compatible and they're made by AMD. AMD done FFFFFFF'D up !!!!!!

i saw this add on the market place (netherlands ) for 500, gaming pc. it contains this:
    gigabyte b550 gaming x v2
    5600x
    32 gb ram
    1tb m2 samsung 980 non pro
    1080ti
    600 watt psu
this was a fucking steal. glad i picked it up, was a 400km drive total (200 forth, 200 back) but it was worth it. i sold the gpu as i already had a 1080ti in my own rig, sold it for 175, so basically i got this pc for 325.... unreal!!!! i can still sell it on the same market place for 600-700 without the gpu. but i wont, the 7600x is nice but its not really an upgrade with that 20 fps more.
