      @@davidnott_ 100% this. Thanks for making videos with real settings people will actually play at. Nobody cares about the difference between 500fps vs 600fps at 1080p minimum settings, it's literally worthless data. The 80fps vs 70fps on ultra maxed settings with RT are where people will actually try and play. If that means the diff between a $100 CPU vs a $300 CPU are negligible, that's still far more useful than the meaningless numbers other channels put out.

      @@Glx-u7e that data is not worthless, those benchmarks at 1080p show what those cpus are capable of running at full speed, The same numbers you get at 1080p is the same numbers you get at 4k, if you had a fast enough gpu. also they show the 1% lows and how they perform. IF the cpu can push 100 fps at 1080p it can do 100 fps at 4k. so not worthless.

      Thanks for mentioning it because I was thinking to do the same upgrade of CPU's. Since a 4080 makes the fps differences bigger, I doubt it'll be beneficial for me with a 6700XT.

Ultimately I decided to go with a 5600x and throw the extra cash to a better video card to replace my AMD 580. This video showed me it would be nice to have the extra power of a 5800x3D, but the much cheaper 5600x gets me most of the way there in the 1440 60Hz or 4K 60Hz my monitor and TV operate it. I own a 5800x3D paired with a 7900xtx nitro+ and I got it especially for Star Citizen back then, which benefits a ton from the extra V-cache (I had a 5600G, 5500 basically, bought it during the insane mining times). People really underestimate how important 1%/0.1 low are.
    This is where to look at if you wanna see if something is running smoothly.

    I find your videos very interesting. I bought a 5700X3D a short while ago because I also bought myself an Asus TUF Gaming RX 7800 XT. Aswell as a 165Hz freesync 1440p screen. Coming from a 5600x. I wanted to be sure I had the least possible bottleneck for my new RX 7800 XT. My 5600x will go into a secondary rig. And my third rig has an R5 5500GT CPU. AM4 is not dead. 5700X3D/5800X3D rivals AM5 R5 7600x and R7 7700X for gaming performance specifically. For AM5 you need to go for 7800X3D to really beat the 5700X3D/5800X3D by a good margin (for gaming). Best case scenario 30% better performance.

    as zen was released ages ago, i jump on it with an r7 1700x switches from a i5 7600k. i used it until the 5000 cpus came out and was blowing away that u can rly feel a difference just bought the 5600 and it holds on, on a testing system. i hope this will happen with am5 i just hold on the 7500f until the next release, so i skip the 9000 series and see whats the deal with the next gen.

Don't buy 4000 series if you want 1080p or even 1440p, and the burden only gets worse when you turn on DLSS and Framegen.
    I've honestly been suggesting people pick up a 3090 since the 24GB of vram will keep its value and just enjoy themselves for 550 dollars, resell it when you're ready for like 300-350. There you go, you just spent about 200 dollars instead of losing 5-600$.

    i'm always curious as to the decision to include titles like "starfield" and "gray zone warfare" in a test like this, as both seem to be relatively unoptimized - especially in regards to cpu performance. it almost feels like you are testing the game's performance more than the performance of the cpu in-game, if that makes any sense. i know starfield has received some updates to help with this, but it still seems like typical "bethesda optimization." games like fh5, cs2, & cp2077 make more sense to me since they tend to utilize given resources in a more predictable - and often consistently scalable - manor. other than showing real-world application for sake of user expectation, is there any benefit in a cpu test to use those two specific games, or am i missing something (which is absolutely possible)?

    Good test, 5600x or 5800x/5900x/5950x with tuned bdie ram will come to spitting distance within 5800x3d. 5800x3d is great for people who dont tune their systems but imo 5900x or 5950x with tuned bdie is much better option than 5800x3d, 5600x is a bit low on core count, some games do like to have 8 cores these days

    • @starstreamgamer3704

      True. And not only with B-dies. Well tuned E-dies are not that much slower, as well as modern RAM with 3600MHz/CL16 XMP (based on Hynix D-die, for example). Most of these kits can easily achieve 3800MHz/CL16.
      Plus, with non-3D CPUs you can use Curve Optimizer and raise core clock by 200MHz, which brings another 2-3% bump.

      No get the 7900GRE instead of the 4070 S. Much better pairing and higher frames especially with SAM enabled smokes the shit out of the 4070 S.

      Do you know what the difference between the 5800x and the 5800X3D is? I could currently buy a 5800x for around 140€ or a 5800X3D for 190€. Im wondering what would be better?

    1080P low it is interesting to watch some posible gaps as trivia but benchmarking in my opinion must be in ultra.
    Edit: do you note any perfomance visually in FS from 40 fps to 70?

      If you want to benchmark GPUs -> Highest Settings
      If you want to benchmark CPUs -> low Resolution, low Settings.
      If you want to test how your System pumps out FPS in Games - > desired Resolution + Settings.
      He tests different resolutions. He tests in low and high. With RT, without RT. Testing on 1080p low is not trivia to me.

      So for flight sim I only have a 60hz panel, it’s just a cheapish 4K TV, so I’ll lock the fps for msfs in the nvidia control panel to 60. When frame gen is enabled, the sim goes down to 30, then frame gen doubles it up to 60. It’s noticeably smoother. Longer term goal is to get a variable refresh rate tv, but for now it works

    What the hell is Bethesda programming when you get the same fps (~70) at 1080p ultra and 4k ultra

    They are only using 51% of the cpu for both ,an R7 5700g is the same against the R7 3700x Was not worth the upgrade to the 5700G.You would think it should but no.I even used the same PC and did 4 benchmarks on each they were very little difference.

      I think you would just get a slightly better fps uplift and a smoother experience if you went to the 5700x3d. If you don't plan on building a whole new rig anytime soon then I don't see why not but otherwise save it for next build.

    Before watching the video, my guess is no, not at all. The cpu specs needed to play games are staggeringly small, its all about the memory and gpu.

    Went to a 5700x3d and still experiencing massive frame stutters during battles in helldivers 2 on a 3060 on just 1080p high so it seems like the game is massively unoptimized

    • @bodasactra
      @bodasactra 3 місяці тому +3

      The 3060 is lower end GPU with limited VRAM. The.5700X3D is way overpowered for that GPU being held back by significant GPU bottleneck. Sell the 3060 and get a used 6700XT or 6800XT for the most cost effective method of achieving a balanced build that gets the most from both CPU and GPU. Otherwise, your wasting money on performance your not getting.

      @@bodasactra I’m considering a gpu upgrade and might when Blackwell/rdna 4 drops. I’ve noticed other players that do have much more powerful gpus than me have also been experiencing frame stutters in this game though. It’s not as much of an issue in other games though, which suggests a game optimization issue as this game shouldn’t be demanding

      Helldivers 2 was made on a discontinued game engine (game took like 7-8 years to make).
      Have you tried lowering the graphics settings to see if that helps or try lower the render resolution lower than native?

    • @NGreedia
      @NGreedia 2 місяці тому

      @@Joeshmoe2579 yeah I’ve tried 1080p ultra, high, medium and low. It’s only when there’s a lot of things going on that the frames become unbearably bad. Explosions, lasers, drop shops and enemies and 4 players. I’ve read others across the internet having better but still fps drops for people using 7800x3d and 4070 and higher. I guess the fact it’s nowhere as bad in any other game proves you are correct and it’s something they can hopefully fox with updates
