This is class! With the issue with the words of different length, when you are animating the opacity between words, you could also animate the tracking of the letters on both words, making the short word subtly space wider and have the long word really bunched up initially and then easing into its normal length. Such a wicked effect though Ben, keep up the wizardry!
No wonder why you label this "Ultimate ...". This is much better than using traditional text morphing techniques. The best part is the flexibility to replace any text. Re-usable and very convenient. Thank you very much.
I hope you'll be making a fully beginner-friendly course to Motion Design in the future, I've checked your course and it looks amazing but it felt like it was advanced for me. I think my level is a bit intermediate with AE but I really want to learn motion design as a career and I want to start from the absolute basics. Thank you so much for the fantastic content!
Try Video Co-pilots Basic Training. It's free and although it's not motion design oriented it will familiarise yourself with After Effects in general. Also The course Ben is running seems like they would help you but I'm not sure.
Radical AND easy? Wow. And super straightforward tutorial with efficient process. No unnecessary long dialog/over-explaining/urge to increase the playback speed. THANK YOU!
This is an amazing tutorial not only does he provide us with very very well explained steps on how to create this effect he also gives the link to the ae. file to download. Seriously this guy is briliant and not enough people give credit. Seriosuly the amount of tutorials that waste my time are shocking. seriously man this is amazing big cheers!
i am binging your entire channel right now, i took one class in AE in college like two years ago and i decided it was time to really start using it and i feel like i've learned 10,000% more just by watching your videos!!
Wow. This technique is very cool. All these tools were available many years ago, but there were no such tutorials. This can be used not only with text, but with many different things.
The best one you do is, giving the project file for free !!! This helps me a lot. I use it as an template to make other projects and even helps me understand the making more easily. Thank you Ben !!
I'm already a subscriber, but this is the second or third time I've searched for a specific solution and a video of yours I hadn't seen popped up. Truly perfect for what I was trying to do, thank you!
Wowww, just wowwww! Have I used before Gaussian blur levels, turbulent displace - yes, have I ever tried to combine them to create a morph effect - Of course not. Thats what is amazing about AE, you can combine 2 effects in a totally different way for a completely different effect. Thank you Ben always a pleasure to watch your videos.
This is amazing. I thought it was going to be Path keyframes, morphing between the shape of two texts, and using the blur/sharpen technique. But this idea is waaaaay better and more flexible. Thanks Ben. Saludos desde Argentina amigo!
I love how you're using this technique for text morph. I've known about it for quite a while, but this interpretation gives it quite a fresh twist! Great job mate 👌
So about the problem with words that are not of similar length i found a solution! i just unlink the scale of the word getting morphed so you can scale on one axis and then animate the scale with the same keyframes you did with the blur by expanding the shorter words scale horizontally so it matches the next words and vice versa for the longer words. It worked for me! maybe you will have to play with the opacity a bit but for me it was perfect.
I*ve head this question in my head ever since I started watching this channel for the first time: why use the posterise time fx instead of adjusting the frame rate in the comps settings?
i might be overthinking it, but how does the opacity changes on the text layers not affect the adjustment layer levels? Wouldn't the adjustment layers black be opaque as well during the morphing because the text layers its altering are changing opacities? Maybe i just need to learn more about how adjustment layers work! Love your videos Ben :) Always learning from you!
I recognised this effect from the MotionLove youtube channel. They showed how to do it in Apple Motion but I recognised it from the Apple Event 2019 when they used
Me: So it was fractal noise and turbulent displace again?
Ben: Always have been.
dont forget Gaussian Blur!
Literally 😭😭 those two are the best combo
I believe in turbulent displacement supremacy

I'll be stuffing this into every project that comes to me for the next 6 months and you can't stop me.

Just between you and me... that's the next course I'm working on. Thanks so much for watching and all the support :D
thats on you to fix, not them
This is beginner friendly

This is so much faster and better than the traditional way of morphing things. Thanks for this. Great tutorial. Saved me loads of time.
