    Love the video, we will be at the Pangolin Hotel in less than a month, so excited to go. We will be there, then Okavango Delta and finally with the
    Pangolin Photo hosts in the Masa Mara for the great migration. I have also watched your video where you use the new Sony 300 f/2.8. I am wrestling with the weight issue and debating on taking my Sony 600 f/4 or the Sony 300 /f2.8 with both teleconverters (1.4 & 2.0). Will the 600 f/4 be over kill? The other lens I will have will be the 70-200 f/2.8.

      I’d say the lenses I used the most for wildlife was my 200-600mm and 70-200mm 2.8, but it all depends on your budget etc. If you have the budget for something like a 400mm 2.8 or even 600mm f4 that’s a fantastic option!

    Karolina, thanks for sharing. I’m heading to Kasane the end of January, after watching your video, I’m wondering if my long lens selection is correct, I was thinking of bringing my RF 200-800 for the added 300 mm of reach, but it looks like the boat is so close that the RF 100-500 might actually be a better selection, or are the game drives such that you will benefit from the added reach? Given the luggage restrictions, weight wise, I don’t have room for both. Thanks, Jeff.

    • @karolinanoreewild
      @karolinanoreewild  Місяць тому

      Hi there! I would personally rather choose the 100-500mm since you're going to be able to get very close to the animals most of the time. In my experience, there will be very few times that you're going to need that 800mm reach.
      Also good to keep the f-stop in mind, since you'll very often need a wider aperture in low light situations. I would say the lower aperture of the 100-500 is going to serve you better than the reach of the 200-800.
      Hope that helps!

      Unless your plan is to take more birds or zoom-ed in portion of the animal. You wont need 200-800 for safari. That lens will also struggle once sun is about to set or when sun is not up.. You could be shooting at 6400 iso or higher to compensate the focal lenght. Anything up to 400mm is generally enough for Safari.. often you might get close as well. If not you could even crop alittle at post.
      200-800 while range is plenty but the f stop.. its slow.. the pro and con
      In this case. I vote for the 100-500 too. Make more sense.

    Hi Karolina, can you tell me how you worked with this group or any group? I find it an amazing opportunity. Yes, I am still learning many things, so am interested in how you were able to do this with Pangolin. I may never get this opportunity and that is ok, but I am also interested in how I might get good videos as well as photographs. It is difficult to get both. Thanks for the video.

    • @karolinanoreewild

      @@loustravels5858 hi! I’ve been working as a photo host for my own business for more than two years now, and worked in the bush for four years before that, so already had experience in the field. How this opportunity came about is they reached out to me asking if I’d be up for freelancing.
      When it comes to video and photo, I simply switch when I feel like it. Mostly prioritise photo, since it’s my profession, but do video when I’ve already got the photos I want or I feel it’s better for the story. Hope that makes sense 😊
