Great video capturing Mark , this looks a good to place to visit . Stunning landscape indeed .. so a photographer has the wildlife and landscape to choose from.. . Thanks for sharing!
Cheers Michael! Thanks for watching. Mashatu really is one of the greatest destinations for Leopards! The landscape is amazing, such a great mixture for the photographer
Mesmerising footage , very immersive It seems the predators are dominated by Leopards and Lions Could I ask how many well know Lion prides are in Mashatu and are Hyenas and Jackals commonly seen?
Thanks so much for watching and for the comment. I’m not sure how many prides are in Mashatu, but Leopards and Lions are the main predators. Hyenas and Jackals are there, but not as prevalent as the big cats.
amazing sightings and an equally good videography Mark. Is it possible to include the cost for the trip so that people visiting the park from other countries are benefitted.
Thanks so much for watching. Adding the cost here is very difficult, it depends on so many different factors suited to each individual. Best way to get a feel for the cost would be to go to www.photomashatu.com and check out the rates.
Great video! I have a question - only in Southern Africa, do I notice this culture of sundowners when on safari. When in East Africa, this is when we try to get some dramatic shots with the beautiful low sun and in the twilight hour. I find sundowners frustrating, especially on group drives. Is it possible to ask properties to skip this luxury and focus on photography during this time?
Hi Sumeet, the sundowners are not compulsory at all. I also prefer to rather focus on photography and skip out on the sundowners, but on this trip, we decided on sundowners as we had just had an amazing sighting on both evenings we had sundowners.
Hello Mark. Fantastic video!! I might be going to Mashatu. I am a Canon photographer and I was thinking of bringing the lenses 400 f4.0, 100- 500 and 16-35 for landscape and Widén angle for the Hide. Is it a good gear, or should I bring someother lenses?
Thanks for watching and for the comment! I think the gear you have chosen is ideal. I would suggest 2 bodies if you have that luxury, especially in the hide. It’s always nice to quickly use two different lenses for different types of shots.
Hi Amanda, thanks for watching and for the comment. I don’t recommend a flash at all. A lot of lodges don’t allow it, but also flash, in my opinion doesn’t give great results. But by all means, if you own a flash, take it with and chat to the guides about using it.
I would suggest flying to OR Tambo International airport in Johannesburg in South Africa, and take a road transfer. If you want to visit I can put you in contact with the relevant people that can organise it for you.

Great video Mark 👌🏻 Just one question please, do you recommend a flash for evening photography on a game drive?
