I do like a 1.8t. Think Sandy was chasing a lean fault on one recently. Something I do with them is use a bigger oil filter as they have a small oil capacity which gives the oil a bit of a harder life. I’ve got a note of the bigger filter part number at work. I’ll try to remember and comment again with it. Nicely done as always Dave 👍
Aye Russell, it was quite a big sized oil filter on this one, took a mahle off and replaced with a Mann. They are on the bench in the footage briefly, cheers Dave

Thinking of a new 2 litre 150hp diesel Skoda Superb. Do you think I will be able to get 100,000 miles out of it, fairly reliably, it will be a manual gearbox?
Silicone reminds me of an issue with a carburetor when a person thought it was ok to use silicone as a gasket, resulting in blocked main jet. Spark plug indexing is important but some people still seriously over tighten plugs mainly people that have calibrated wrists and therefore do not require a torque wrench
Good Vid Dave. Not sure if Euro spec cars are different but clutch depression safety switches would not let you reach in and start the car as you did. Perhaps there are exceptions but none I have encountered on a modern Canadian spec vehicle. 🤔
My pals mother started his car in gear once. Her and the car had to be extricated from the side of the house. Of course it was a 1968’ Camaro. Safety switches have been utilized for yonks here 🤷♂️

yeah ian, most newer cars are clutch or brake to start, older cars not so much
