Engwe Engine Pro 750 Review: Does This Fat-Tired Thicc Boy Belong in Your Garage?

  • If you’re looking for a serious fat-tire e-Bike, then the Engine Pro 750 should be on the shortlist of bikes to consider. I’d admit, it is a bigger bike, but the fundamental question is: Will it serve you well when out on the road, out on the trail, or just running errands around town? For the Engwe Engine Pro 750, the answer to that question is an enthusiastic “Yes!” with the best part being how much fun you’ll have in the process.

    Nice review mate, I am in the uk and we have some strict laws over here, I do not think many e bike users take much notice though by the amount of these bikes sold. We are supposed to be restricted too 250w motors and 15.5 mph, I only want to do that myself. I thought of buying the Engine x model, butfor a little more this bike has the hydraulic disc brakes and bigger battery so worth the extra money. I am a pensioner and short in the leg too so I think this bike will be ideal. The good news is they have upgraded the motor and the saddle now too.

    I have about 600 miles on this bike. It is solid, sturdy and has a smooth comfortable ride. Flat surface, throttle only = 23mph. PAS 5, going down hill with wind behind your back = 28mph. So theoretically it does go 28mph, but requires effort. The regeneration is likely great IF you are located in a hilly area, but the NM=60, so it will not go up a hill without additional effort. Interesting, the throttle does better uphill than PAS 5. The most distinct feature of the Engwe Pro 750 includes the comfort of the ride. The full suspension is so much better than the front fork alone (majority of bikes from China). It takes normal road bumps and bike path bumps without a problem. Most bikes without that mid suspension means a lot of thuds and wear and tear on your backside. Add a mirror, blinkers with a brake light and you are all set. I really like the color display which is another important feature of this bike. It provides lots of information and adds to the fun of riding. After 600 miles, there have been no issues with this bike with minimal maintenance such as lubricating the chain and "tightening" down the fenders with velcro strips to the support bars to reduce the rattle when going over bumps. Matt's review is one of the better reviews out there, he provides an honest review that is very accurate.

      Hey! I saw this other review, and the guy found that using throttle only, gives the maximum output of 800+ watts. But using PAS 5 , it limits the wattage to around 600 watts.. Did you also have the same experience?

    Great review thanks! Did you buy the black or the grey? It's hard to tell with the lighting in the video... What has been your experience with the regeneration feature....do you think it is adding back to the battery in any meaningful way or just a gimmic? Some sources say regen only adds about 5-10% back which isn't much at all. Their claim of it adding back 60% of the energy used to climb a steep hill is really difficult to believe. Is their max estimate of 62 mile range in PAS for the lowest PAS level? Seems like you got about half that at the highest PAS level. I really like the ability to customize the PAS levels to your preference. Can you disable that crazy cruise control feature? I really don't want that coming on automatically while I ride. Last question: did you have to drop the seat to it's lowest possible level to get the right fit, or is it raised a little bit on your 5'4" frame? I appreciate your feedback!

You dont even feel like you are on a bike it's so comfortable. I cant believe they arent fitted standard these days. These tiny hard saddles should be outlawed.
      The first thing I do when I get a new bike is put the super saddle with a backrest on it. Then I know I'm never gonna feel uncomfortable.

    I love this bike but my i-ERS system has never worked. It is what is supposed to charge your battery when coasting downhill in 0 or 1 peddle assist with no throttle. Turns out they sold me one that has the wrong motor and likely wrong controller by accident? I would think they would have tested it before shipping it. They have really poor customer service. They reply quickly but make you send videos and pictures and still can't see the difference or under stand that MPH is faster than KPH. The finally after almost two months agreed to send me a new motor if the controller is compatible, I have to send them a picture of the label on it. If it is not compatible, they will not send the replacement motor and want me to settle for a partial refund. That sucks, why can't they send a controller and a motor if they are both defective? Yes they work but are defective by definition in that they lack the advertised "Your Range Booster" function on their website.

      Just curious, but did you copy-paste that comment elsewhere too? I think I saw this one on AliExpress as well. Fingers crossed my I-ERS is going to work. They had some problems with it in the past according to the Facebook group. Bringing it with the wrong engine, controllers that get fried, etc.. However, I thought they solved those issues.

      @APPIC-Psych 2 роки тому +2

      Engwe support has been very responsive to me. The bike does generate 800-900 watts (peak) and generally uses 300-500 when cruising. Solid build, 200 miles on the bike, up to 27mph with pedaling. Usually cruises around 22-23 mph with minimal pedaling or 24 mph with throttle only. I don't like that the motor provides no additional acceleration after 23mph, but pedaling will get you up to 25-26pmh without a problem. My maximum so far is 27.2mph, but that was going down a small hill. I have been commuting every day and I am on my 3rd ebike. The Sohoo 500 w was too fast (34mph) and not quite solid enough (main issue) for me. It does have s shorter turning radius than most other ebikes, so you do have to be careful not to cut the turn too sharply. Really no trouble and I like the ability to weave in and out of puddles. The suspension is what I really like about it. Other bikes clang and rattle, this one is solid and will only occasionally clang the fender on the rack when I hit a really large bump. If you want a more powerful bike be sure to check out the Newton Meter rating. The Engwe Pro is 60 and a 20" ebike 1000w like Tesgo is 95nm. Now that is a fast and powerful bike, but again too much for my 5 mile commute that is primarily on a bike path.
