I read the H. Beam Piper novel about the time I was getting into Treveller, so seeing the Sword Worlds mentioned, the names of the planets and the descriptions of of Sword Worlder culture etc...was really nice.

The GURPS write up of Sword Worlds is still my favorite write up.

I use PDFs and I like that I can search for a key word in a document and jump to that page.

I really love these videos. Traveller is my favorite SF Role playing game! I haven’t really looked at the Mongoose stuff because I have a purist streak… It is nice to have your overview because it helps me see there is value in the Mongoose stuff. Thank you for this. And congrats on meeting your subscribers goal!

I was one who thought he didn't need any of the new stuff because I had the old stuff. I was wrong. The new stuff feels like Traveller in the best way and adds lots of new goodies.

Nice review/preview. You've included a lot of useful information in this video. Thank you.
"Regina." Does that rhyme with "fun?"

I am buying the physical books due to not ever getting traveller in the past but finding a new love for it now ironically the only experience I had with original traveller was making a character and have it die ( first) one then I picked up a few things here and there but not a lot so getting the new books is like getting what everyone else got but with the most updates love your videos

A lot of the things mentioned I had in my Traveler campaign back in the 80's. One of the big themes in my campaign was being hired by an illegal creature collector who would hire the crew to collect and smuggle protected or illegal species. The capture was a small part of the adventure usually. But they often had to deal with getting them from war zones or high law areas. One adventure had them getting a specimen of a creature living in a gas giant and running into an intelligent life form living there so it changed to a first contact situation.

Sounds like a great campaign! Kind of like the bones wars of dinosaur fossil collecting in the 19th century. The History Guy just dropped a video on that topic today.

@@page121tabletoproleplaying4 Thanks. We had a lot of fun. I was a full time collage student running 3 games a week. It was my outlet for not being able to write like I wanted. I'm dyslexic. I did write a spec script for Star Trek and missed selling it literally by 24 hours. Long story.

@@page121tabletoproleplaying4 I looked up that history guy video. Interesting video. I was subscribed to him but missed the notification. I have too many notifications. In my campaign they where supplying live alien creatures to a world that had high tech level but the law level was split. The ruler had a very high law level in most of the planet but a large continent was allowed to be lawless as long as they paid heavy "taxes". A good deal for both because the government got access to illegal traid while having plausible deniability. The "Zoo" where the alien life forms went was in the lawless district. The leaders of the government controlled areas had rather strange tastes so the crew was always busy but also always on the wanted lists for a lot of worlds. Eventually I had them move on, but they had to. Long story to that. Long but fun campaign.

I remember adventuring 'Behind the Claw' in many of GDW's original scenarios set in the Spinward Marches. Research Station Gamma, Twilight's Peak, Secret of the Ancients & Shadows are still some of my favourite 'little black books'. Sadly Megatraveller moved a lot of the focus towards the more central Imperium sectors.

I dislike the pictures of ships throughout Mongoose. Zero detail. And the layouts of the decks!! Again, zero detail and can't be printed out and used for miniatures. Need to find good deck drawings from other sites.
I greatly enjoy Traveller and Mongoose has put together a good system, but I would never say good pictures. Look at the detail in D&D vs Traveller.
