Joel yes the meteors or black dots are a thing. It is believed 1. They are the ressult of the fog skybox (object rendering) and the weather/atmosphere skybox (coloring and rain) as when they collide a gap to the outside can be seen for a while just like HL2 or Doom no texture walls aiming to the outside when in SA is black or 2. Its a rendering glitch as common like anything else weird in SA. Can't believe no one is talking about myths.

The guy who made the Bigfoot and aliens mod for San Andreas is an Italian youtuber, and when you installed the mod, it contained a virus that basically disables Adblock for his channel. True story.

This truly is a bygone era in gaming. You never hear crazy urban legends about games, anymore, just because as soon as someone suggests something, data miners are there to debunk it. And then there's the hundreds of let's plays that would have found it in a day.

Is there a reason why a plane spawns there? Did the devs accidentally add a spawn condition or something?
Lemius that’s what I suspect. the planes that spawn are always the large prop driven ones, only found in San fierro. Though the spawn rate for them is extremely rare.
The first time I ever experienced it was back in 2005, the very first time I stayed up past 1am playing this game. It was also the only time I got to approach the plane with it not blowing up first. Once entered though, it sure did! Every other time I’ve found only a plane carcass or seen explosions from that house. All in all I’ve seen the plane 3 times, and seen 7 explosions in that town while playing Sa over this past decade and a half. Making it one of the more difficult glitches to witness. Hell, the first friend I explained this phenomenon to, spent 8 years doubting me til he witnessed it himself.

Its pretty much confirmed they messed up the vehicle IDs. This plane has a similar id to a motorcycle i think.

I may be wrong, but if I remember correctly that is something you can do at any point in the game by looking down while driving then looking back at the road. Essentially the game loads npc cars depending on where you look

The only almost "spooky" thing that happened to me while playing San Andreas on PS2, was when I was spending some time on the southeast side of Flint County near RS Haul, I find this pedestrian photographer taking pictures of the ocean, and then suddenly he just started walking towards the water and died.
Yeah, from a coding perspective, thats a pathing error where instead of following the sidewalk they follow where they believe the sidewalk is, which just so happens to fall off into the water

The weirdest thing I ever saw was a glitch that happened when I was playing the co-op mode on PS2 GTA:SA. My cousin and I were running along the beach on the eastern most side of Los Santos when out of nowhere a car (I think it was one of those Vagos Oceanic or something) drove up out of the water and then continued driving directly into the terrain under the city.
Wasn't really scary, just odd. It was clearly a glitch.

The ghost car spawns pretty much everywhere on the map that is considered countryside even the desert.
It's random. The ghost car is literally just a broken vehicle that can never be fixed, it doesn't drive itself, it just falls off cliffs. It used to scare the shit out of me.

The day this video came out I was alone all day making pancakes and watching this. It's a really good memory thats constantly reinforced by this being in my recommended all the time.
So the ghost cars are beat-up abandoned Glendales that are succumbing to the laws of physics and borked spawn placements which make it look as if they are driving on their own. That is literally all that is.

I remember calling my mother into my room to show her me jumping off the maze bank with a parachute, that blew my mind for about 2-3 months then I probably like everyone else, started looking for aliens 🤣 they where weird times for games the expectation was everything you can think of is waiting to kill you you just gotta find them
My inner child was having a blast watching this. I spent a few hours chasing after San Andreas myths and urban legends. I even learnt a few new things from this video, so thank you Joel. I eagerly await for a second part.

As a kid, I always used to be spooked of the forested areas because I was under the impression that Bigfoot would pop up and crash my game or something similar. Of course, I "knew" it was a mod by watching tons of videos on the subject, but I still wanted to find aliens and other cryptids in the PS2 version. Nice to see Joel doing this stream, even if he is a bit of a meatball sometimes.

Apparently the ghost cars are the result of an oversight. The cars are supposed to spawn on the sides of the steep hills in the Back O’ Beyond area, but because of the physics of the game, this causes them to roll down the sides of the hills instead, making them appear as if they are driving themselves. I believe that they were originally supposed to be a reference, but that the rolling-down-hills thing wasn’t intentional, although it might’ve been kept in because it added to the spookiness.
