There is nothing better than modded San Andreas
Before the definitive edition released i grew up playing the game for fun, having only borrowed it from my friends, thinking the game had no actual story and it was just a stealing car and shooting cop sandbox simulator.
Then the definitive edition released, and i remembered the good times i had with the game in my childhood, so i went out of my way and i played it until i finished the main story, finally getting to experience what i had been missing for a decade and a half.
And by "played it" i mean pirating the old PS2 ISO and running it through PCSX2. The save states really help not making the experience a complete torture.
One of the few games Vinny didn't need to corrupt, since it was broken at launch.

Only games I ever pre order are the ones that have a kind of demo or beta I can try before release. Didn't preorder KOF XV until the 1st beta, as much as I wanted to the moment it existed

Gaming in 2021, where a multibillion dollar publisher can't even do decent remasters. And where said publisher removes the originals from stores so you're forced to buy the awful "definitive edition" at a much higher price than what you would have paid for the much MUCH better classic versions.
To be fair, Namco did the same with with Dark Souls Remastered, and I'm pretty sure Bethesda removed the original release of Skyrim from Steam

The GTA Trilogy "remasters" are basically what happens if you were able to AI upscale 3D graphics.
That actually was done, adding more polygons etc. It ruined a joke too.
They did. The entire thing was shipped to India and they used a massive farm to render all the models with an AI. That's how you got all the typos and the game smoothing out props that were not supposed to be (like the Tuff Nut donuts sign). While that was going on in India, Grove Street Games was here playing laser tag and having restaurant dining on a weekly basis and just hanging out like its a college frat party (its all over their twitter, go look).
There's no "basically what happened". That's literally what they did

Piergaming's editing style gave off some early Vinesauce vibes; Vinny made a good choice for having them edit this one. Holy shit the definitive edition is a dumpster fire though, and seeing the Switch port is like adding arson to it. Tragic, but man are the glitches funny.
I love how in the first clip you can tell Vinny was just looking at chat, and had to look back at the game to understand why everyone was saying "FINGERS". lol

Ahh those must be the “leet fingies” I’ve heard so much about.
It was one thing to announce and release this collection on such short notice, complete with bugs and glitches and all that.
But the fact they announced a new GTA:O pack not long after this disaster was released is kind of a punch to the stomach.

The biggest disappointment was when Vinny did the infamous train mission and beat it easily on his first try
I guess it’s the only part of these remasters that’s less bugged than the originals
I never really had a problem with this mission, aside for my own mistakes, maybe I was just lucky.

This game somehow blew away Take Twos expectations and sold over 10 million copies. The human race is a failure.
I completely agree. People will get months in advance to see what games will be like and what's going on during their creation and then act like they're surprised the game ended up being shit. This is especially true when people keep buying games from companies notorious for making bug-ridden disasterfests.

it absolutely was not like this on PC back then. I still have my release day copy somewhere, pre "AO" rating, pre-hot coffee patch. came in a neat book that was atrocious at actually holding the DVD in place.
the thing about these games is that people are rolling old early 2000s PS2 jank into the new jank and its blurring the line between genuine actual criticism towards the "remasters" and "I forgot this is exactly how it was on the PS2 so therefore it is the remasters fault"
