  • On this episode I finish up some things on the frame and get it coated in chassis saver. Turned out fantastic!

Hey Matt, Gerry here in FL.. Try to do all your painting, whether it be for a frame, inner cab or body exterior out of the sun. Under the roof overhang eave would be cool both for you and the chassis, but I know you don't want to get that stuff on the exterior of your shop or anything except for where you want it to go. The shade would also keep the chassis cooler which is what I think would be better for adhesion, but I'm no pro, just talking from experience with painting house exteriors. Never painted a chassis but I'm with you on spraying it rather than brushing it. Love to see you do the second coat and what it looks like when finished. Now to watch the final 6 minutes of these Highboy Resurrections. Damn, I love these trucks. Old School or No School.

I should have just went this route for the chassis as well vs powder. Will the 17'' steel wheels your going with accept a hub cap? If so, info on those please. Id like to run a 17 vs a 16 for a better choice of tires.

Did you thin out the paint?

    • @MattKubik1791

Yes, 10% for spray out of a HPLV gun using magnet paints thinner

Just saw the last few minutes of this video and that front axle shows real well. Nice finish. Is that chassis saver an already thinned product, ready to spray or did you have to thin it? Coverage looks real good. Great Job. I see the clouds rolled in to help you out with the sun. That's always a good thing. Thumbs Up.

Yes clouds came just in time for the second coat! The chassis saver requires its own special thinner and I thinned it 3oz thinner per qt per their instructions for spraying.
