    You saved my life with this. I am a 55 year old woman with no plumbing or handy person experience. I was scheduled to have a washer and dryer delivered. The delivery oerson came in and 2 minutes lster told me that "I" had to disconnect the hoses because it was stuck on and he didn't want to do it. I would have to remove it and reschedule the delivery. I was so upset. I had no idea where to start. After sometime of trying, I went to youTube and found you and this video. You made it so simple to follow. Voila, it worked. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

    Washing machine hot water hose had been on probably 15 years. Your video was the only one that described splitting the hose connector in order to remove. You can imagine mine after that many years was completely seized. Worked for me....thank you sir. I added some auto anti seize lubricant on the treads before installing new hoses Tks again.

    Thank you Charles! You described my situation pretty much to a tee. I couldn't get my hot water line off upon moving into my new (old) home and I really felt great when following your directions worked! It allowed me to use my brand new water lines and take off the nasty, rusted-out water lines. You rock!

    Follow up: I had this same problem with my hot washer hose. I purchased a tiny close quarters hacksaw at Home Depot and cut slowly into the side of the hose like you. I also purchased a small can of "PB Blaster" lubricating fluid. Once I could barely see the threads of the spigot, I squirted the lube into the cut. It was like a miracle and seemed to dissolve the calcium on the threads instantly. The hose broke free like butter. Thank you for the idea.

    Thanks so much for this video! After buying my 3rd washing machine in the 7+ years of living in my current home, I figured I shouldn’t avoid taking the old hoses off any longer even though they were seized on.
    After buying a more appropriate hacksaw it didn’t take too long to remove both hoses. I started with the hot water hose and unfortunately I did lightly cut the hot water thread. I’m hoping some teflon tape will help prevent leaks when I put the new hoses on. I was more cautious with the cold water hose and thankfully didn’t nick those threads.

      If its not deep the seal is on the front flat surface where the hose gasket seats. If that isnt severally damaged likely it will be ok.

  • @scottlloyd9558
    @scottlloyd9558 2 роки тому +2

    I accomplished the same thing about three years ago using a Dremel tool to do the cutting. I did nick the pipe threads to a minuscule degree, but not enough to do any substantial damage. And it’s the rubber gasket, not the pipe threads that forms the seal.
    FYI: Washing machine deliverers and installers, because of the liability issue, will not attempt to remove a hose connection that has been “seized on.” You have to work it out yourself. Using the hacksaw is a good way to remove it; the Dremel tool is even better.

    • @CharlesShurbetAlohaPlumbingATX
      @CharlesShurbetAlohaPlumbingATX  2 роки тому

      Very well put. This scenario plays out too frequently “installers” is a loose term don’t have good training and they are not given authority to make any kind of repair of this sort. I love my dremel tools. I have some similar ones made by Milwaukee cordless models. They can make the job a lot quicker and easier. I would say just be careful to anyone not accustomed to using one that speed can equate to more damage than you were expecting than a hand driven hack saw. Scott thank you for your input.

    I tried this and I finally got the washer hose off but I did cut a little into the ring. I put the new hose and it looks OK so far but should I replace the whole thing now? thanks

    Help please! I did what you showed on this video but I ended up cutting or leaving a line in one of the threads and when connected the new hose for the cold water for the washing machine, water splashes. What should I do?

      l.a.r.t 4ever if you cut in too deep or the front of the valve you will have to replace the valve

      @@CharlesShurbetAlohaPlumbingATX Oh man... The cut on the thread is not that deep but I will try teflon tape otherwise I will have to change the valve even though we bought this house 3 weeks ago and the previous washer and dryer were a pain to take them out because the connections were so hard and rusty. But anyways, I really appreciate the information.
      Thank you!

    It is blur at the most important time where u hammer it to release..

      Hi sorry about that. Its just a matter of making a slit in the metal like the line i draw.then use the flat head screw driver to gently spread the metal. U sing a hammer to help spread the brass just be careful how hard you hit it but it should make it split.

    Hi, I'm trying to turn both water supply valves by hand and they're not budging, it's almost like they're locked. Please advise, this is them: www.dropbox.com/s/e3wjf5zvvznus27/WontBudge.JPG

      Try to turn the handle gently with a pair of adjustable pliers. You may want to back up or hold the valve while you turn the handle

    • @HornetMontana
      @HornetMontana 7 років тому

      OK, thanks, but before I do, I see each one has a nut at the base (I circled one in the following image). Could they be locking the valves and require loosening instead?

      Not unless you tightened them to begin with. Generally your issue is caused by over opening the valve turning them open until they stop. This can be prevented by opening the valves until it stops and then turning them about 10 deg closed. Thats like from the 12 - 1:00 position on a clock

    • @CharlesShurbetAlohaPlumbingATX
      @CharlesShurbetAlohaPlumbingATX  7 років тому

      J Mon try turning them just a little counter clockwise like from the 12:00 to the 9:00 position and then turn the handles with a pair of adjustable pliers.

      Angel Ortega you need something to cut the ring with and though I have you really don’t want to use anything electric. If you use a cut off tool of some kind go very slow you can always cut a little more

      If it’s rusted and someone has tried to remove the hose. You will likely have to go this route if not try spraying wd40 and let it sit.
