Thank you I just found out my movers won’t unhook appliances without a fee. Let me tell you how empowered I felt when the first video that pops up is a woman doing it herself! Thank you!
This is the most helpful video on moving the washer and dryer I’ve found…I’ve been dreading doing this myself and was ready to fork over the extra few hundred to have someone else do it for me, but now I’m feeling pretty confident that I can do it myself. Thank you!
Thank you for this video! I saw a woman’s face with six minutes and knew this was video for me!! Thank you for making this so easy!! 💕🙏 (I learn from everyone, of course, but something about being a woman learning from a woman how to ‘fix-it’ felt really good.)
thank you for showing how easy this is !! I've been delivering/installing washers and dryers & all appliances for years now & majority of people really don't understand how easy it is
Thank you so much, the store said they wouldn’t be disconnecting or installing anything because of covid... only delivery of new one and pick up of old one. Weird because when the delivery driver showed up he asked if I wanted him to install it for us... I said hey they told me I had to do it myself, and I'm already here, it's very easy, which he said yes it is very easy! My dad was supposed to do this for my grandmother but he was busy working so I volunteered to do it. She was yelling at me every step of the way to stop and wait, she insisted we needed a man or professional to do it. I said listen, I watched this UA-cam video it’s very easy!!! She didn’t trust me at all, and there was a bit of a language barrier with her at the same time. I was worried the old one wasn’t completely drained... every time I tipped it, water poured out of the back (I was told I had to remove all the hoses from the back as well, I didn't know about the clamps, so had a bit of trouble squeezing it off). Delivery driver explained that’s okay you can never completely drain them. And then the new drain hose was actually a bit shorter than the old one, I had a lot of trouble reaching it to the drain, but I was able to force it in. I don’t think she will use it until my dad comes by to inspect, but I know I did it all correctly! The irony is when he “fixed” our washer he actually mixed up the hot and cold pipes... it says hot and cold on the back, hot and cold behind the knobs on the wall, this is fool proof! I'm mentally exhausted from just her hovering and insisting I should give up, but I persisted because I felt inspired by this video :p
I'm so sorry I didn't respond to this until now! So glad that this video was helpful to you, and to your grandmother! I kind of hate that your grandmother didn't think that you (or she) could do it on her own, but I'm also glad that you proved it wrong!
@@ChickFixUSA She is VERY old fashioned, always had someone else do these things for her. My dad came over later and changed the drain hose for a longer one... and he asked me "What are all these clamps for by the way?" while holding them in his hands - I said "You need the clamp on to secure the pipe or it will leak!" Haha so a reminder that some people are very good at looking like they know everything...
Thank you for your help on guiding us through this process, we are in the process of moving into our new home and many issues have already cropped up in the house and has been costing us so much money its ridiculous and its been hurting us, just thought id let you know that this video has made our lives just a little easier
This was very helpful wish I had watched before I just bought a new washer for 500 because the movers was charging 400 dollars to disconnect washer and connect at new place thank you for this video I can go get the washer and put it in storage God Bless you
thank you, i found this when trying to figure out how to bring a washer and dryer into my 78 year old grandfather's home. you seem really bright and thorough so i'm going to watch more... er, right after i replace the washer and dryer right now 😂
Thank you so much for this! Just having someone explaining and showing is golden! I accidentally said "How hard can it be?" the other day and this morning I had to live with that.
Thanks for this video. My husband was blinded and further disabled by a stroke and now I need to learn these things. Just to verify, in regards to lefty loosey and righty tighty....lefty loosey would be turning the water off and righty tighty would be turning it on? I'm scared to death to try this, but I have no choice. Part of our house was destroyed in the winter storm and those repairs have drained the bank balance. I can't afford to pay anyone else to do it. As freaky as things are in this house, I'm afraid I'm going to have another water explosion in this house when I try to disconnect this washer. Thank you again for this video. Have a blessed Easter.
Heard when you unscrew hose with your vice grips, to make sure you only grab at the front of the metal where the grooves are and not to clamp beyond that because then you will actually crimp it onto the threads of your water connection. Just learned that from someone else on youtube. Be careful. At those prices, definitely is a job worth doing on your own. Out with the good old days of true service. You buy a washer from some one that is a service they should provide without question.
We’ve moved from South Carolina to Ohio, our house burnt down anyways we had to buy a new washer and dryer a couple times already my mom did this with the new machines. Since we are looking into moving again to Florida this time. I’m soo happy about that.
Thank you! I'm moving and had the same issue. I couldnt for the life of me remember the name of "channel locks" and I refuse to pay movers to disconnect it for me. Off to lowes I go. :)
Good luck! I know what you mean, I keep wanting to call "channel locks" an "adjustable wrench" which is a completely different tool. Thanks for watching and good luck with your move!
Thank you so much for posting this!!! The previous home owner has his old set connected so such short hoses and covered them sort of in a tight cubical. both machines are so darn heavy that it took me years to pull them out bit by bit and then I can't even see where the heck all the plugins. Can't do anything but hire a professional. Really frustrated!!!
great video! love how you explained things so simply! do wish you had a gas dryer to show us but I will continue searching for a video that does! helpful for the washer though and love your attitude and honesty! thank you!! :)
Good info. I remember your video for cleaning the dryer vent. I have a stackable washer and dryer so it's not as easy to move. Kinda wish it was cause I really need to clean behind it.
There will just be an extra step to shut the gas off at the valve before disconnecting the gas line. I'm sure there's a video out there somewhere about that.
its funny I knew that you didn't turn the water back on when you told that story hahahah, btw you're absolutely right I feel weird charging customers to install a dryer especially . anyone can do it
Hi, great video! I'm trying to find ways to save on electricity and water. I wondered what your thoughts might be on turning the water off and unplugging the washer when not in use?
I've just noticed that my hot water valve (identical to the set up you have) is leaking a slight bit, and rusty stains are forming. Is it difficult to replace this part? I watched your UA-cam video on freezer problems and fixed mine this morning on my own. So, now I'm feeling pretty empowered to try fixing more problems in my home without having to make service calls and paying out MORE money.
Thank you for watching! Yes, it's possible to fix that yourself, although you'll want to make sure you turn the water off inside your home when you do it. (I have a video for this as well!) You should be able to buy that part at Home Depot or another home improvement store. Is it leaking from the connection point to the line to the washer, or from the stem?
So I wasn't finding vice grips or channel locks when searching my hardware store online. I guess they're also called locking pliers vice grips and groove & tongue pliers, respectively. How do I know which one to use?
Easy.. one recommendation would be to invest into better quality hoses.. braided metal hoses can save you alot of money.. don't want to have a burst hose.
Today I learned that with hot and cold switch turn to the On position, my washer works great. Turning hot and cold to Off, my washer works great. Turning the red and blue knobs does not turn off the water! Not sure what purpose they serve, as they look like water disconnect switches.
New subscriber. I do a lot of my own stuff, but continue to learn. I wanted to find a woman's channel. Notice how you clean up the mess under the washer? Men traditionally forget the details like cleaning and organization! How many times have I heard a guy say where is this? Where is that? We tend to keep our things together so that when we need them they are right there. 😘
I’m just having troubles trying to figure out which one is hot and which one is cold since it doesn’t indicate them on the wall! I guess I could run them and have a bucket underneath and see! Lol
Well I don't have one, so take this with a grain of salt.... But as long as you shut off the valve on the gas line before you unscrew the dryer from it, you should be fine. There should be a shut-off valve right there on the line coming from the wall.
Thank you I just found out my movers won’t unhook appliances without a fee. Let me tell you how empowered I felt when the first video that pops up is a woman doing it herself! Thank you!
I'm so glad it helped! It's so easy to do I'm surprised they even charge for it.
People lack common decency. It is not like they replace what they break.
This is the most helpful video on moving the washer and dryer I’ve found…I’ve been dreading doing this myself and was ready to fork over the extra few hundred to have someone else do it for me, but now I’m feeling pretty confident that I can do it myself. Thank you!

Yeah it helped me alot too

You just saved my life ! Didn't need to call my dad while crying because of you thank you !!
So glad it helped!!!
thank you for showing how easy this is !! I've been delivering/installing washers and dryers & all appliances for years now & majority of people really don't understand how easy it is
2 years later and this is still helpful. Thank you for sharing!🙂
I just watched three videos on how to do this and your video was by far the most simple and best explained so thank you
Glad I could help!
I spent $200 and they installed it incorrectly. I could have watched this and did it. Im subscribing
Thanks for the support!
You should call them back and get a refund.

Thank you, lady!! $150 for this is completely ridiculous! The thorough explanation is very appreciated. 😊

It's SUCH an easy thing to do, people just don't realize it.
Great job - I would have felt like a fool giving those guys $175 to remove the washer and dryer!
Thank you I just disconnected my washer, for the delivery of my new dryer
thank you, i found this when trying to figure out how to bring a washer and dryer into my 78 year old grandfather's home. you seem really bright and thorough so i'm going to watch more... er, right after i replace the washer and dryer right now 😂
I can't thank you enough for doing this video. You are an angel. You explained it so well. Thank you
You are absolutely welcome. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Thank you. Your instructions were clear and easy to follow.
Thank you for making this video. We just got our new to us washer installed, and it only cost me dinner!

Thank you! I usually pay to have movers do this but trying to save money and you made it look easy!
I'm going to do this myself, thanks for the great diy video... To the point and complete.
We have same exact washer and dryer it looks like! So hopefully when we move soon it wont be bad at all.
Yes!! Same reason I’m here I don’t want to pay extra for disconnecting my washer/dryer..thank you🤗
I was able to do that with the help of your video
as Im receiving a new samsung washer and dryer

Im trying to be a handywoman
I'm so glad it was helpful!

Thank you! SO much clearer than all the other videos I have seen.
Thanks for the support! And I'm glad it helped!
Thank you so much for this! So helpful and straight to the point 👏🏾

Thanks a bunch for this video. Very cool to show people that they can do things. Empowering!
Thank you for watching!
good tutorial! watched a few men try to explain the process and it was humiliating, at best.
great video! love how you explained things so simply! do wish you had a gas dryer to show us but I will continue searching for a video that does! helpful for the washer though and love your attitude and honesty! thank you!! :)
!Muchas gracias!
Thank you so much when you’re a single gal the struggle is REAL!!!
I appreciate the step by step info thanks a ton!
Appreciate your approach.. I just didn't see how you install the hoses to the new washer (not to the wall)...
Good info. I remember your video for cleaning the dryer vent. I have a stackable washer and dryer so it's not as easy to move. Kinda wish it was cause I really need to clean behind it.
Thanks - I need to move my washer and dryer to install some floor tiles. This help (except my dryer is gas)/
There will just be an extra step to shut the gas off at the valve before disconnecting the gas line. I'm sure there's a video out there somewhere about that.
its funny I knew that you didn't turn the water back on when you told that story hahahah, btw you're absolutely right I feel weird charging customers to install a dryer especially . anyone can do it
Ok that was FANTASTIC! Thank you !
Thanks for the video!! Making a stressful time that much less stressful
I'm glad it helped!
Will you do a video of starting THAT washer, please?
Thank you. I just learned something new today. 😌
Hi, great video! I'm trying to find ways to save on electricity and water. I wondered what your thoughts might be on turning the water off and unplugging the washer when not in use?

This was really useful! Thank you!
Thanks for saving me a couple hundred bucks!
Really usefull, well made and clear, thanks!
Awesome! Made it look so easy
Great video! Quick question, how much water do you let out for the washer if you have the knob kind of handle?
Turn it all the way off until it doesn't turn any more
Lucky husband got himself a Wife , Handy-woman and eye candy all in one.
Love you for this! Indebted!!
I'm so glad it helped!

husband of the year.

My issue is my dryer hose keeps coming off the actual dryer. And I have to actual move the washer out first to get to the dryer.
Finding a video about gas dryers is like pulling teeth
So informative and encouraging too. Thanks!
Thank you, I had to do this today because I am moving.
Sorry I didn't respond earlier! I hope to move went well.
When you unhook the hoses, do you leave them connected to the washer & lay them in the washer after draining or do you remove those as well?
Awesome video!!
Haha, I was wondering when you would turn the water on. Thanks for the info
Thanks for watching!

ChickFix USA Great videos!
Very informative... and cute too!
Thank you for watching!
I have a Amana washing machine but it doesn’t have a soil level
Hi, we're going to be moving soon and we have a gas dryer. Any tips you can share with us about moving the gas dryer ourselves?
Well I don't have one, so take this with a grain of salt.... But as long as you shut off the valve on the gas line before you unscrew the dryer from it, you should be fine. There should be a shut-off valve right there on the line coming from the wall.

very nice video fam
No disrespect! You're way prettier than my boss.
" I learn " lol
Why thank you!
Thank you sooo much!
You’re the coolest
Amazing. Thank you!

Epic thanks!
Don’t tell me that Women cannot do this or that. Take notes from her 👆🏼💪🏻
What about a gas dryer?
Hi. Looked at picture of hot + cool water. By looked video hot water tank on left hand side. Is it correct by standard?. Plmk, thanks
Yes usually the hot water is on the left, at least in the U.S. It might be different in other countries.
phenomenal
great video
Awesome thank you !!
