It's called Eagle 2 because this kit (excluding the labpod) is based on the second 44" filming miniature. Eagle 2 was used as many different Eagle's, as was Eagle 1.
I managed to get one of the larger Eagle models of Eagle : 1. They were around £400 pounds and came with Gerry Anderson certificate and signature !... It looks genuine as the portion as signature actually has ink sink through by it. I've modified this Eagle to be MUCH closer to the season ONE metalizing the thruster bells . adding lighting to the Cockpit. and completely redoing the Cockpit details . as the pilots were atleast three times too large a scale !!! I've added authentic lunar dirt to give it some exciting USED effects as on the series. I managed to get this pre built marvel for £290 pounds way back in the early 2000s ...

I wish MPC would re-release the small metal accessories parts set that has the aluminum reaction thruster bells and make a version for the Eagle 2 (because it has twice as many reaction thrusters)...
Waiting for my kits to fly into Canada. There were only three 44" Eagles, E1, E2 with brass spines and E3 with steels (for fire and crash scenes). All 3, a little different and they swapped them out all the time so different scenes you saw different Eagles. We're lucky to have an Eagle 2, not many even know of Eagle 3 :) (studio Eagle 3 resides in Canada )
#3 also has a differently-shaped Command Module and more than a few different detail bits. It took a good beating in "Space Warp." On top of all the scenes when it had Titanium Tetrachloride dripped on it or was pelted with asteroids.
This kit I have to get and yes Jamie hood at round 2 is going to issue new weathering decals and they will including the weathering decals for this kit and the first version they are coming out with them round 2 has there own UA-cam channel check it out They are coming out with the weathering decals With regard Dennis j Bisconti
The Cargo Eagle's pod-mounted landing pads were square, so it's screen-accurate. The 44" cargo/winch platform was built up into the Lab Pod and the landing pads were changed. The only other episodes the winch was seen in were "Earthbound" and "Space Brain" and it was the 22" model. Wanna know something that's a pisser? Eagle #2 never had the piping around the engine frame. Eagle #1 had the piping for the main engines to feed freon into the engine bells, but #2 and #3 didn't have it (according to Eagle expert Dave Sisson; he should know as he owns #1 and is friends with Andrew Frampton who owns #2).
@@dannywilde865 You realize Martin posted photos of 2 & 3 after they had passed into private collections and their owners had them modified? Look at Eagle 1. When Phil Rae owned it, he tricked it out with Eagle 2-like details (like EMA half-domes) that David Sisson kept after Phil sold it to him.

If the door is white, can't you just use the number 4 without the white background? The decal background is clear, isn't it? So you should see the white of the door behind the number anyway

Hi, the foot pads on the cargo pod are square. The cargo eagle from Round2 is accurate. Watch the Breakaway episode.

Wrong! eagle 2 and 3 had the piping around the engine frame. Do a search one the Catacombs website.

They did make a mistake in the instructions with the feet pods. If you look carefully.
