The Moonbase Alpha logos were applied upside down on the command module nose. That's a noticeable mistake. Especially for a limited edition, hand built and painted model costing $400-$500+, depending on where it was purchased.
I have two out of the three pre-built and painted MPC/Round 2, 22 inch Eagle models ( The Rescue pod Eagle with Eagle 1 lift body ) and the Eagle 2 with passenger/reconnaissance pod . Both with purchased optional aluminium machined main rocket motor cones and VTOL rocket cones. Neither of these have any issues. I missed out on the very first Eagle 1 based passenger/reconnaissance pod version, which I woulf really like to have to complete this collection, to date, but when this one comes up for sale on eBay, it is just waaaaay too much money to purchase and justfy for an all plastic model, even for a fairly well done finished model. Not when they were much cheaper to purchase when MPC/Round 2 initially sold these. I got the last two Eagle variants, from other third party sellers, when the pricing of these were still very close to what MPC/Round 2 was selling these for. So, I got very lucky.
s The original filming models used screws to hold the pods to the main Eagle frame replicated exactly the same as this model. Also the MoonBase decals are upside down on the beak. You can probably pop out the windows and reverse them. Someone at the factory screwed up. Great model though.
You know that is a great question. That is why I made the joke about seeing it in the rear view mirror. I don't know if that is an error or not. I don't think it is like that on the filming model but I never really noticed it.
@@TrekFanNCC-1701 I was going to mention the upside-down markings on BOTH sides of the 'beak' (it should have been 666 in the series), but I was beaten to it. Might add collector's value??? To be honest for the 450 quid plus price tag this should have had aluminium bells on all of the thrusters from the start, not as an addition expenditure. Thanks for the review, if I get one of these it will be as a kit, because without bragging, I can put it together better myself. Bugger, I forgot the screws for the pod release, why didn't they use magnets?
@@davidwatts1871 The original filmmg models used screws to hold the pods to the main Eagle frame. If you look for reference images of botn the 22 inch and 44 inch Eagles, the pods are attached by screws to the main Eagle frame. I have no real place to properly build and paint models, so these pre-assembled, pre-painted and pre-decal-ed models are a gift from the people at MPC/Round 2, if a little pricey. The model kit does NOT come with the aluminium engine and VTOL thrusters, The aluminium kit has always been an extra purchase. Yeah, I'd be royally frustrated!
Yes, I noticed that too. That would tick me off no end, especially for a model this expensive. Inexcusable.

Hi. Beautiful Eagle, but why is the Alpha badge upside down on the port side of the CM?

this is a really nice model!
Thank you.
14:50 that vent detail is the engine deck from a panther tank, I think.
Good pick up.
A result of their kit bashing back in the day no doubt?
I was going to buy the 14-inch do it your damn self kit.
This video may have changed my mind.
The 14" kit would be much less money. This one was very expensive.
@@TrekFanNCC-1701 The 22in DIY kit is about $130.
I'm ok with putting it together myself.😁
I really want the spring-loaded landing gear!
@@1Kent Maybe you can purchase that in an aftermarket kit? Best of luck with your build! =-)
You should definitely do the Lindberg 1/350 APL Ss President Wilson unboxing?
That sure is a beautiful ship. Unfortunately I don’t have that kit.
At least, not yet. =-)
And repairs in space lol no tiles
