Here you will find discussions on plastic model kits. Mostly science fiction and military models. Find out where I find and purchase them. Which ones I like. My ever growing knowledge about the hobby.

Full day of printing on the Creality Ender 3 V3 KE. All is excellent!! This is my 1st printer. After a month of learning and research I can say this one is a really good one for $178 that I Paid for it. It is a refurbished one from Creality on EBAY and ebay had a 20% off coupon. Ran it all day yesterday and overnight. Works amazingly well!

I purchased a 3d Printer to expand my modeling hobby. I will be able to download and print many sci fi items that are either not readily available or that are too expensive to purchase.

what retraction settings did you use?
I followed what they recommend off of the website. I printed it high quality 1mm layers. Filler primer, then flat black, then metallic silver all from Rust o leum. I then covered the entire model with quick shine floor polish. Then I used AK Grey and blue panel liner and rubbed it off 2.5 hours later.
Turned out great!!
Awesome print and video! Thank you very much~
Thanks for sharing. Looks great! Love the pilot paint.

welcome to your new addiction
Best of luck with it, I've been toying with picking up a printer too :)
I spent the entire day yesterday and overnight, 10hrs, printing the mark III Viper. Its a fantastic printer!
Very cool 😎 me likey nice post 👍
Congrats! Enjoy!
Thank you!!
I like your choice of blue that you mixed, it is far better than most I’ve seen. Most of them paint it waaay too dark and it looks stupid, yours is very close to the tv show. I think the tv show color is very close to Richard Petty’s racing car from the 1970’s with the STP on it. I think it is “Petty Blue”, he was very popular back then.
Very interesting.
That’s the wrong thinner to use with that paint. Use the Vallejo thinner, or even just water. The thinner you used isn’t compatible with water based acrylics. Tamiya acrylics are alcohol based.
Looks good man! I kinda like the main colour, it already looks dull and kind of weathered!
It does!
Looks fantastic!! thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
you spelled anniversary wrong.
thanks
Looks awesome!!! I’m new at this and have the same kit but don’t know how to go about it and you got me motivated! I’m going to try and follow your steps. Interested in how the lighting works. 🙌
At first I wanted to build this one to practice for the Bandai kit I have. Now I want to do the best job I can on this all the way from lighting to painting. The key is planning the stages and taking your time! This is the first model I am doing to this detail. Next video will show me applying the main color. Thanks for watching.
You got it brother! Planning is key. Technically this will be my second kit, just have to weather a Bandai 1/72 x-wing. After watching your video I opened up the box and realized that this is much different than the x-wing with all the glueing and stuff. I started cleaning up the bottom half of the falcon and thinking if I can MacGyver some magnets on the landing gear doors so I can display it in flight or with the landing gear down and maybe using some thin styrene to make panels under the canopy and in areas where there are missing panels instead of scribing them in, maybe even cutting the canopy in half like the Bandai one. Before I knew it I was filing out the little notches on the outer panel edge of the falcon for some extra detail. Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated. Look forward to seeing your next video!🙌
Great video! Subbed! :)
I have several of the old MPC Falcons and cutaway Falcons. They were terribly inaccurate, and generally not great kits. Did the reissues get new tooling?
Yes, some of the parts are new. The side panels up front are shorter to make them more accurate. The solo and chewy figures are much nicer. The kit is still not up to the level of Finemolds or Bandai but its only $70 not $300 and higher. A good paint job and custom lighting and I hope to make it look really good.
@@sci-fimodeler1701 looking forward to it.
My Grandpa was in the army air core ww2 he was an awesome Grandpa I miss him 😢
Very Cool I have the same Galatica kit too including the Viper, CylonFighter and CylonBaseStar. I'm wondering have you ever come across any V mini series kits. I'm looking for the Visitors shuttle? thanks for these great videos:-)
There is a place called cozmicscalemodels which has a 1:32 scale resin kit of the V squadship for $177 plus shipping from UK. These kits are not cheap but seem to be good quality. They also have the sky fighter.
@@sci-fimodeler1701 Thanks so much. That looks great:-) Been searching so long for the V ships.
Amazing!!
That was cool. 😎
At least Hobby Lobby has Bandai Star Wars kits various airplane kits and tons of car kits. Michael's has one shelf filled with the Revell USS Arizona, one or two planes and maybe two cars
Michaels used be great. I had gotten several fighter planes 1:48 scale for $12 - $30 with coupons but now nothing but a few cars. Hobby lobby DOES update what models they carry at least twice a year.
I was my Hobby lobby yesterday, I picked up a X-Wing in 1/144 scale. I was shocked to see the Y-wing at my store, I had to pay through my teeth from EBAY to get mine 1 1/2 ago
Nice wirk so far yea I'm waiting for the new pe set to come out so I do the same ill keep watching your video for now keep them coming
Thanks for the "heads up" on the new photoetch set! I just put in my preorder at CultTVman. 😎
Have a great build.
Very cool! I did manage to get a couple. One is a rescue - it was built but fortunately not painted and not a glue bomb. I plan on just re-assembling it, taking care of light leaks and adding some basic lighting like yours. The other I do plan on 'correcting' it as much as I can and adding LED's & fiber optics. Like you I do have the Moebius kit in the stash and will eventually built it up.
Wait, so the lights are included?
No lights included. It does have an area for the battery to be stored and its setup for easy lighting. I'll make an update
@@sci-fimodeler1701 Thx!
This is the 1997 re-issue of the one that came out in 1978-79 when the series was aired. I don't think they re-tooled it at all.....just updated the decals. I have built both...in 1979 that one had name plates for 2 Battlestars....Galactica and Pegasus. This 1997 re-issue had name plates for 7 different names.

How do you reinforce the engine pylons? The engines weight cause the pylons to bend downward.
That is difficult. I usually crazy glue that joint
I am so glad I didn't purchase the model after seeing your video!
Why? its a good model with really good looking aztec decals. Only issues for me is that is is front heavy and its difficult to light.
It looks cheap.@@sci-fimodeler1701

So it seems this is the old 1/58 scale models top bottom cockpit and landing gears. It has new sides figures and radar dish......So the 1/72 after market kits that are advertised today will fit my older 1/58 version...... Is this thinking correct? I am updating my older extremely well painted cut away model I built in the late 90's. Making it more studio correct. I lived a nomatic life and a parent just sent my old models back to me now that I am a home owner. They aren't in the best condition after being moved around in a hot attic for 20+ years. I am fixing them. But I always noticed a difference in the model and the studio version back in the day. I spent so much time pausing the OT VHS's to get the details right. Bought the Technical journals. They never showed the bottom...... Uggh. The landing gear change drove me nuts then. Looking on line seams I wasn't alone. Anyways I like some of the after market kits available. Like the engine intakes and engine grill. The gunner wells and cockpit. I plan on taking on the outside details myself. But adding a light kit makes me want to look further into these aftermarket kits. They are pricey. So don't want to make the mistake of assuming I am correct in thinking these 1/72 will fit a 1/58 model.......
I am not sure. I know the cutaway model is not accurate in scale. You may have to cut and fit other parts, but that makes modeling fun I guess.
For a long time, the length of the falcon used to be 26.7m according to the official SW website, then several years ago it was revised to 34.75m. This resulted in different scale of the same 47 cm MPC falcon kit (incl. cut-away version). Now that 34.75m is the official length of real(?) falcon, 1/72 is the correct scale of both MPC falcon and aftermarket kits
Looks like PL/Rd 2 did a better job of accuratizing the reissues of the MPC/ERTL Star Wars model kits than they did the AMT/ERTL Star Trek kits this year.... I know PL has limit resources but they couldn't cut out the cabin holes for the Reliant?
I knew UA-cam has many very niche targeted videos but this takes the cake. I love that people have these passions. Cheers
Awesome !!!
Thanks!!

top left of the 6 looks crooked, or is it just a camera distortion thing?
YEAH, I left it that way. close enough. For the Bandai kit I will have to line up strings like they do in construction.
Have a great paint job.
Cool. 👍
hello, I also have this glue and it does a very good job
WOW, that turned out great!! Excellent work!! The paint job is awesome!!!
Thanks!
Thanks for the glue heads up
No problem 👍
Looking forward to seeing the finished kit. Good luck with the paint job.
Thanks 👍
I could be wrong but I always thought the Airfix/MPC Eagle kit was 1/76th scale.
That's a good point. I don't know about this kit, but there was always a problem matching up 1/72 and 1/76 scale in dioramas. It was the same with 1/32nd and 1/35.
@@xray86delta Actually, its true the old ones were 1:96. The new one is definitely 1/72
Actually, I know that the scalemates website says they are 1/96 but that may be only the airfix models. My understanding has always been that the older kit was meant to be 1/72 but was not quite that scale.
Had a look back through all the model reviews & merchandise guides I still have and where a scale was given its always 1/76 up until 2016 when reviews of the reissued kit start giving the scale as 1/72.
such a nice iconic craft
