23 minutes 20 seconds or so ...the look on your face Liam as the wind and rain are battering your tent; priceless. We all get it. It's one of the best feelings to be all snuggled up in a tent with a good old storm blowing.
Coming down that stickle hill path with a heavy pack on I started to pick up speed and was heading straight for a large rock , rather than crash into it I threw myself over it and twisted to land on my pack , it was the first of two rocks close together and I was stuck fast between them on my back , I shouted for my mate who was following behind and when he turned up he did what any mate would do pissed his self with laughing and took photos of me struggling lol , no pavy ark for me mate we took the easier way up round the back , watching your videos brings back so many memories and are great to watch .
I recognised that area instantly. Walked up there a few times on various family holidays and splashed around in the tarn looking at fish. I remember my dad's walking boot lace getting caught on the lace hooks of the other boot and him nearly falling down that "sketchy" bit you were talking about (Jacks Rake?) - I was so scared I cried! I'll never forget that place though I can't wait to get the chance again. We used to go the Dungeon Ghyll route.
Thanks mate, watch this space for the winter with the cooking.. Time to finally up my cooking game 😅 Just ordered a jet boil skillet after you said in 1 of your videos how good it was.
We went up Jack's Rake donkey's years ago and there was a fella ahead of us with a Border Collie and he asked up "ferra 'elp up tricky bit" when we got to an overhang. The view was stunning, but the scree was slippier than Michael Gove in a bondage suit at a foam party.
You do what you need to do man. I have become a big fan of this channel. It is inspiring and i aim to sort my life out and start going on my own adventures. Aftet watching all the vids. When i first came looking i was only really interested in certain videos... for example i wasn't interested in bikepacking. However... i eventually worked my way to those kind of videos and enjoyed them a lot. Haha. So just do a mix up like you are. If weather dictates or you are cooking something... do more tent time for sure. But if you wanna go out and about while you have the weather for it and show off more of that side... go for it. And even keep doing those bikepacking / ebike kinda stuff too if you like... it has grown on me. 🤣
Magic Liam and fair play to you out in them winds. The hilleberg really held up well. Them views at morning time where something else 👌. Brilliant watch I really enjoyed it 👍.
You look to have mastered a small pack load out , something I never learned to do , couldn’t wait to see what gear set up you brought , was amazed to see the hilli tent .
Apologies, Liam, only just come across your site but really enjoyed this video so have subscribed and look forward to watching future videos, thank you
No apologies needed mate, thank you for subscribing and watching the vids! Plenty of the back catalogue to check out although i’ve slowly improved up until now! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment Richard, appreciate it mate.
I attempted Jacks Rake scramble once in mid 1990’s - terrible weather conditions. Failed 😟. I live in the US now, hopefully after I retire to revisit the lakes and bag a few more glorious mountains. ❤ the channel
Hi Liam, regarding Jacks rake… u doing it sometime? You are well capable… It’s a scramble. Though it looks scary from front on, it’s actually a groove in the face and the scrambling has lots of good handholds. There isn’t the same sense of exposure as on Striding edge. Done it solo, with a group of kids (though I wouldn’t today!!) and pregnant wife ( though we didn’t know that at the time😂😂🥴) However, I am NOT saying you should do it… not my place to say that… just giving my perspective on it. Keep up the good work… I love the combo of walking over terrain followed by a camp. Bit of a matter in the tent etc. Don’t think repeated demos of boiling broccoli in a pan are that interesting. Really impressed with how you are developing as a presenter!
Thanks Ian, yeah i’ll no doubt do it at some point. Probably next summer when the kits gonna be nice and light again. Appreciate the comment about the videos as well.
Hi Liam . I'm look to get in to this hike and wild camping. But don't have clue we're to start. But your video are helping me to get so great ideas we're to start. Keep up the great work 👍 👏
Hello I am a brand new subscriber and I have to say. I absolutely loved the video. Thank you for letting me come along on your adventure and I'm looking forward to seeing more. Dwayne
Great video, Liam 👍 Your picture quality and editing is exceptional. I like the hiking followed by camping vids cos it’s something I’ll never do and I see beautiful scenery I wouldn’t otherwise see. It looks so cosy being in the tent when it’s blowing a hooley outside 🌬️ I totally get why you love it.
Authentic spag boll my arse 😂😂 this is the kind of video I enjoy, hiking and camping because it not only shows the journey but also the reward waiting for you 💪cheers Liam👍 stay safe and God bless you mate 🙏🙏🙂
Cool camp as always Liam 👍🏻 I bet my Vango Chinook could give the hilleberg soulo a run for its money in the wind resistant stakes😜 (I've probably mentioned that before lol) I always pack my tent parts separately, it makes it much easier to pack👍🏻 I love the langdale pikes, I camped with friends at stickle tarn in the winter a few years ago, the snow was deep, but there was no wind and the sky was clear, absolutely magic.
Thanks Liam, sweet video! You asked about format, I prefer shorter ones myself unless there is a compelling reason for it being longer. Its good to see something different happening rather than just a video of a camping trip. Does that make sense?
I concur. You have serious production skills Liam, really professional filmmaking skills. I would like it if you let us get to know you a bit more, as in maybe answer a few questions or talk about what other things you are into etc
Spot on as usual liam. Them winds, great innit when ya know ya tents sound. Im using a berghaus cheviot atm and its great in wind and one of fave bits is the black-out inner, just not headroom. Tek care pal n catch ya next time.
I've never climbed a mountain, any advice where to go for a 50 yr old complete beginner? Need to give it a go before I'm past it altogether! I'm not too fit either (at the mo) so summit easy (pun intended lol) cheers mate!
From what you've asked on this , just keep putting on what makes you happy bud , it's down to earth and real , triple planes going past, be honest did you have a little wee 😂
Car parks are a nightmare with the app crap , some are very crafty and a camera records you passing the entrance and starts your time from then rather than when you buy your ticket , so you come back on time and are five minutes over and they fine you .
Fuck’n Hell! Those Jets are bloody amazing! 😳 I know that you’ve imagined what it would be like to have a go in one. Just as I have. 👊🏻 Brilliant camp mate! I really liked the POV.. 🤓 2238 ft. 2238 ft. Ten minutes to Wapner. Ten minutes to Wapner...
Great video mate. Id a been shittin it in them winds. Yer right with the gopro. Theyre brilliant but dont show the landscape as good as 'live in person view'.
check out the knees over toes exercise, works really well at repair and making it more stable. as for what kinda videos i think you should make.....just please yourself man, its the only way to go.
Your wracking up the Wainwright's now lad,I need to spend more time down that area.the car parking is a joke at times they make it so complicated at times with paying by apps and the lack of signal or getting up at silly o'clock to top up😠
A cool wet fish enriched in the cream of horse radish behaviour back in 1565 the Demond saw upon you it’s arched head of deep breath, snacking on liquid goo deep in the darkest minds of corn fish 🐠 those fish gathered to discover extreme poo smothered all over each of the towns peoples face.

It's a good thing you don't 'sleep walk' !

Ace again Liam. No mention of fresh boxers after the storm either 🤣
Thoroughly enjoyable again.
Adge
Thanks Adge mate!
Loved the homemade spaghetti bolognese 😜. You definitely got rewarded with such a beautiful morning!
Thanks mate, watch this space for the winter with the cooking.. Time to finally up my cooking game 😅 Just ordered a jet boil skillet after you said in 1 of your videos how good it was.
@@GoodBlokeOutdoors Looking forward to it! It’s definitely the best nonstick skillet I’ve used 👍
Triple treat, your the man. 1❤

Brilliant video mate.
That wind was brutal, goes to show how quick the weather can change.
That meal was fit for the Italians.
ATB Dan 👍 👍 👍 👍
Thanks Dan, appreciate the comment mate, only the finest authentic Italian cuisine 😅😅
This one was lovely, no clag although I do laugh when you say clag. The views were lovely as was the clouds a beautiful two day adventure

i was daft, i thought you had a bag of spag, tomatoes, mince and cheese in your bag!!! you certainly had the wind after it😂😂thanks mate, peace out

Pretty hardcore Liam….well done! Can I ask, what stove are you using? Keep the vids coming….
Thanks Joel, the stove is a Soto WindMaster, think I got a link to it in the video description.

Awesome stuff mate are those black labels worth lugging the huge weight I know they are awesome but I like to go light
Buddy what's the name of that tent # am gonna be going two go outdoors later on as there's a Sale on ..... ps nice videos 👍
Thank you and It is a Hilleberg Soulo Black Label but they don’t sell them in Go Outdoors mate.
Alright, cheers for letting us know M8 👍🏼

Nothing like homemade spaghetti bolognaise is there😂😂😂
Hi mate can you tell me again what rain jacker sorry i lost the last one
Omm Halo Smock 👍🏼
Best Spag Bol ever - can I have the recipe bro? Frickin love my Hilleberg Soulo, managed to use it exactly zero times this year 😞
Class mate, how do you find your omm waterproof jacket. ? Any good ? Love your spaghetti bolognaise recipe 😂😂
From what you've asked on this , just keep putting on what makes you happy bud , it's down to earth and real , triple planes going past, be honest did you have a little wee 😂
Do you have a wainwright bagging book like Dave the solo summiteer
I do have a couple of Wainwright bagging books mate 👍🏼 but I mainly use the ‘Hill Lists’ app to keep track of which i’ve done.
HARDCORE geezer ( eats a lot of crap) but always fun to watch. Great presentation. Follow this dude. Cheers from Cornwall.

Depends on budget and what sort of camping you are wanting to do mate

For total overkill, double pole the tent.
Yeah nah, fook that wind......
Your mental 😂😂

Bit of a thick wool, really. Doesn't half eat some shite n'all!
Love it Paul thanks mate 😊
Get yourself a universal canister stand for your gas, every time i see you cook i think that buggers going over🙄
English seem to love exposed pitches maybe because they like the views
Anything for the mountain views mate!
Your wracking up the Wainwright's now lad,I need to spend more time down that area.the car parking is a joke at times they make it so complicated at times with paying by apps and the lack of signal or getting up at silly o'clock to top up😠
Just join the national trust , free parking ! Saves a fortune. Steep climb up there
Bro then why you got to pitch in an exposed area? Seems stupid. I always drop down and hit the trees where it's nice.
My knees are shot , climbing is ok but descending with a pack on is murder , especially on the stone steps so look after your knees mate .
