You getting water from a stream reminds me of the story of the posh southerner just about to drink out of a Dales stream. “Tha munt drink watter theer, this a dead sheep in it up t’ thill”, said the farmer. “What’s that you’re trying to say you interfering old man”, says the southerer, churlishly. Farmer relies in his best Queen’s English, “Sorry, I was saying, you’d do better cupping two hands to get a better drink” Beautiful scenery, no, sorry, bloody magnificent. You made me interested why there are so many boulders up there. I knew that it was glacial in the valleys. It seems up top there it’s rocks being consistently wet, frozen, ice expanding and cracking them, over millennia. You learn summat every day it seems.
Ace that mate & to be heading up onto ill crag for a camp in winter with less than a years experience is dam good going..fair old rock field up among that lot but to be up among the big boys is where its at..last time I was up there i ended up on great end for a second time & theres a cracking little grass shelf on the west side with excellent views of ennerdale & the gables.. Takes some years & visits to learn the lay of the land up there & to recognise the skyline helps when you've completed all 214 Wainwright's though 😉 Keep at it pal & stay safe..Andy..
Nice 1 Andy, means a lot to receive a positive comment like this from you. I have been watching your videos from the start of my ( short ) wild camping experience and you have certainly taught me a thing or 2 from watching the vids. I have been up Great End on a previous vid with intentions to camp but was struggling to stand with the wind so didn’t want to attempt the camp so dropped down lower, but i’ll certainly be back up there in calmer weather in search for this grass shelf on the west side, sounds like a cracking spot 👍🏼 Thanks for the comment mate. Stay Safe. Liam
Awesome video Liam. Drone footage was amazing particularly you in the red jacket against the snow/boulder field and the build up to cresting the summit 👍 ps. Try pot noodle sandwiches!
Thanks mate! Yeah it can be hit and miss with the drone footage as I rarely check it until i’m home, so was relatively happy with how this 1 turned out. Thanks for watching and for the comment. I’ll be sure to get a Pot Noodle sarny on the channel at some point 😅
Thanks Dave, i’ve certainly caught the bug now. I used to think camping was all about woodland, fires and all that sort of stuff.. but i’m so glad i’ve discovered the other side to it, in love with hiking spending time with the mountains. 👍🏼
Hey Liam, currently working my way through your videos from the start, great stuff, excellent use of the drone 👍 How do you put your music together, it compliments it all very well . Keep up the good work fella 😎
Another awesome video, brilliant. I love how you scran pot noodles and sangers. Don't change to the expensive freeze dried cack, jerky makes a nice alternative to dried sausage. I take a snap box with pork pies and sausage rolls on hikes. Really hope the channel grows over the next year, you've come a long way. I did exactly the same on Scafell. Got lost it was minus 4 and the wind was merciless, couldn't get a bearing, visibility was 10 ft. Looking forward to the next adventure.
Thanks mate, not gonna lie I do have dehydrated meals as well but can’t always afford them for every trip. Glad you liking the content and hopefully i’ll see you on the next 1 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Cant wait to get out there camping, you have inspired me. These videos are quality, go on lad keep up the good work. Thank you from one northerner to another.👍
Bashing them vids out mate - continue with the good work and usual banter - great work - best wishes from Hawes (where i live in the UK) and Vietnam (where i live currently)
Thanks mate! Really enjoying getting out and making the videos so long may it continue. Cheers for watching and writing a comment mate its much appreciated 👍🏼👍🏼
Great vid, loved the scenary. I was impressed I bought the Decathlon down jacket on your recommendation. Then to see you wearing in the vid great stuff. Don't go mad on gear as its the trips I like to watch. However a list of your gear would help. For instance the white table you use, don't make a vid. but where to get one would be interesting.
Hi Brian, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment mate, the Decathlon Jacket is really good value for the money. The table is a NoviceWildCamper Table from the website ‘ Outdoor Gear Essentials ‘ I think they are around £15
I Bivvi camped in that stone shelter just off Scafell Pike last November, cracking night. Well worth it but chilly 😂. Its a hard walk over them boulders, does my head in 😅. Cracking video 👌
Thanks mate, it can be hit and miss with the drone footage, don’t really check it out until I get home, and by that time Its too late if I haven’t got any decent shots! Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the comment.
For epic views for an anniversary have a look at Harter Fell (Eskdale) epic views over both Scafells. If I could post photos I'd show you. Lonscale Pike looking over Keswick, derwentwater and Thirlmere is, lovely to. To many to choose from 😂
Really enjoying your channel. Just one thing I thought it looked like your trekking poles had the rubber ends on them? If so you don’t want those on in the mountains, just use the bare tips
Cheers for watching mate, glad you are enjoying the vids.. I didn’t know that buddy thanks for the info i’ll stick to the bare tips in the mountains 👍🏼👍🏼
Really impressed with you ability to get these out weekly at 7pm. I've just ordered a sand coloured Soulo BL comming tomorrow. Someone posted up on a facebook group saying basecamp gear had one in stock today along with a ground sheet. I just managed to bag it (which means I can cancel my backorder with Nordic which was due mid June)
Takes a bit of work editing wise, especially when I work as well but its worth it 👍🏼 You won’t regret getting the Soulo BL and you picked the correct colour as well 👌🏼 Thanks for watching buddy, let me know how you get on with the Soulo, and i’ll see you on the next 1
@@GoodBlokeOutdoors The Soulo has already been setup in my garage ! Off out tonight to test it in the Peak somewhere. Showing 40 mph winds on the forecast; which I wouldn't have taken my Cloud Peak 2 out in. I have a feeling its going to be okay with the Hilly :)
Another great trip young man, you have crammed a lot in since you started so well done Liam . I am curious , how come you are Tommy 2 whistles ??? Is one for the birds and Raving and one for the Mountain Rescue ???? It's a good thing that you carry one for sure. I always carry one and i wear it around my neck just in case you have to drop the pack to get yourself out of a difficult situation...i.e you take a fall on steep ground and its a difficult scramble back up especially if you get injured also if you wear it around your neck and next to your body then you can buy one with a pea in it which are a lot louder and the pea won't freeze up if its not exposed. Also do you know you can register with 999 for sending emergency text messages ?
Thanks Olan, Not sure why I have 2 whistles, I will take 1 off and wear it around my neck though deffo, incase I don’t have my pack on me. No I didn’t know that about 999 text.. I know on my new iPhone you can set up a SOS thing like the Garmins have for when there is no service / signal. So thats quite handy.
@@GoodBlokeOutdoors you just text the word register to 999.......thats good about the iPhone . Yo mate! What app do you use to record your tracks? I can't find the video to check which app it was, it was where you almost lost your tent when the clag came down :/
