    His dad had been dead for years when he wrote this. He was saying he’s proud to carry his name but he’s not obligated to play the same music like the industry wanted him to. The industry is who broke the tradition of getting along.

    Great reaction as always! Hank Sr actually died tragically in WV at age 29 in 1953. He is considered one of the most influential artists of all time and sang traditional country music. Hank Jr is Outlaw Country. The family he is talking about is the country music industry. His style was edgier and didn't fall within countrys traditional 'norms' so he broke their family tradition. He and his dad are both legends and have an extensive catalog. Check out "I'm so Lonesome I Could Cry" by Hank Sr it's an amazing song.

  • @patrickpetiniot272
    @patrickpetiniot272 4 місяці тому +21

    The family tradition he’s talking about is two fold.
    The first part is that Hank Jr and some of the other artists his age, were what was called “outlaw country” that was a term that was derogatory and given to those artists because they weren’t traditional country artist. All the outlaw country guys were open and honest about their lifestyle of drinking, drugging and raising hell.
    Hank Jrs dad, Hank Williams Sr was old time country royalty. Even though Hank Sr was music royalty, he had issues with booze and drugs, and he died young, but during his life, his lifestyle was a secret, more or less.
    So the family tradition was Hank Jr not going along with old school country stars, he lived his life by his rules, not the country music family’s.
    But Hank Jr was basically telling the country music elders that he was actually keeping on with his family tradition, that his dad started before him.
    Hank Sr died when Jr was young, so they never really beefed about this. The beef was with the music establishment, if that makes any sense.

    Hank Sr. did pure country. Jr. sings outlaw country. It is not a problem with Hank Sr., he's talking about the Nashville people and a lot of the older Hank Sr. fans. They wan ted him to be like, sing like his dad. De does do his dad's music better than anyone else, but Jr. wants to do it his way. Yes please listen to Sr. He is the GOAT. Oh, my gosh. He had no problem with his dad because Sr. died when Jr. was 3 years old. His mother was the pushy one who wanted him to be his dad.

    Hank Sr died when Jr was 3 from self medication. Hank Sr was born with a spinal deformity that was incredibly painful and he used drugs and alcohol to ease the pain. When Jr came on the music scene, his outlaw country style was so different he got a lot of flack from the traditionalists who expected him to sing like his daddy. Tom Hiddleston played Hank Sr in the movie about his life and death and did an amazing job. Jr wrote and performed the Are You Ready for Some Football theme for Monday Night Football. You might want to check out the video "duet" they did together through the magic of video to "Hey Good Looking".

    Hank jr grew up being forced by his mom to sing his dads songs since his dad passed away when he was 3, but eventually Hank jr decided to do his own thing and fans and other artists didn’t like that he decided to do his own thing.

    Hank Sr was a legend, hank Jr was 3 when his dad passed away so to Carry on his fathers legacy he continued singing his dad songs, I believe right around the time when hank Jr fell nearly 500 ft. off a mountain and sustained facial and skull fractures is when he started singing his own songs.

    Hank Jr is the for real deal. He is the country music icon. He lives just like his songs.... his mom mrs Audrey is the one that pushed him to do his dad's music. After his fall and came back he did it his own way.... his first song done his way is Cajun Baby.

    Williams, 26 at the time, fell more than 500 feet during the trek. A helicopter was forced to land about a quarter of a mile away from the accident scene. All told, the rescue took six hours, with six men carrying Williams to the helicopter, which flew him to Missoula Community Hospital.There, Williams spent over seven hours in surgery - led by a team of five doctors - for head and facial injuries.The artist was not initially expected to survive, but he did, and he spent more than two years recovering from the incident. He had numerous skull fractures and had multiple surgeries to repair them; the scars led Williams Jr. to grow a beard and wear sunglasses -- a look he's maintained throughout his career.Born Randall Hank Williams in Shreveport, Louisiana, and known by the nickname Bocephus (a name given to him by his father because he thought his son as a baby resembled a TV ventriloquist dummy named Bocephus), he was raised by his mother Audrey after his father's death in 1953. Why do you drink audience yells to get drunk, why do you all smoke, audience yells to get stoned. ❤❤❤😂

    His dad died when he was a small boy, When Junior started performing everyone wanted hi to sing his dads music. His dads music was the old school of country from the 40's and 50;s, Junior turned into a wild man and drank like a fish, smoked like a train and ate as many pills as he could find, hence the big glasses. He ended up in the hospital because he fell while rock climbing and broke nearly every bone in his body

    Hank Sr "your cheatin heart", "hey, good lookin" or "I'm so lonesome I could cry"
    his father died in the backseat of a car on his way to the next concert. constant touring along with years of drug and alcohol abuse took there toll. hank sr was 30, hank jr was like 3 or 4 so all he really knows about him is through stories and his music. the other "family" is those who care about him asking why you got to be like your pops? chill out a little...

    You remind me of Lil Wayne! I ❤ him! Hank Williams Jr is an outlaw in Country music. His daddy was the biggest partier in Country music back in his day. Hank Jr is a chip off the old block. He's following his father's footsteps by keeping up the Family Tradition. 👌

    Hank, Sr died on New Year's Day 1950. Hank, Jr. was a toddler. Hank, Sr. died at 29 years old because of his lifestyle, alcohol and drugs. There was no dispute between father and son. The tradition was country music wanted him to play the same songs his dad wrote aka Family Tradition. They wanted him to live in the past with his songs. But Hank, Jr was in a different generation and needed to go in a different musical direction. Both were musical geniuses. Hank, Sr has been recorded by about every singer who is somebody. All genres. Hank Sr died at the top of his trade and is recognized as the Greatest Country singer and writer of all time. His personal life was a mess and it was reflected in his songs.

    Great reaction to a Great song!, Hank Jr. is definetly a journey. The doctor told him he would be just like his dad but he would beat him. He would be dead at 25 or 26 if he did not change. So he moved to Alabama and started doing his own music. Please research him and his music and you will be shocked at what he went thru and accomplished.

    The country music family was very conservative, almost country Christian, and Hank Jr and other outlaw country singers were more party, alcohol, and drugs when more traditional country singers were more restrained. And his father was an undercover outlaw country lifestyle while singing traditional country music.

    Okay during the time of the Outlaw Country it was not just Hank Williams Jr, add Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelsen and a few others. They were all trying to sing 'their' music and not the music of those who came before them. And to be honest it was why I respected them above many others who just 'went with the flow' so to speak.

  • @antoneenos7871
    @antoneenos7871 3 місяці тому

    Hank Sr. is arguably the greatest writer of country songs, but he was also a drunk and pill popper that died in the back of a car on the way to a show at the age of 29. Hank Jr. was just four years old. Hank Sr. was notorious for missing shows because he was playing for free an whatever bar he was getting drunk. Hank Jr's mom sent him out on tour as soon as he learned his father's songs. As Hank Jr got older, he started making his own music and stopped singing his father's songs. Hank's Jr's songs were not radio / Nashville country and there was a backlash because his songs we not traditional country. What Hank Jr. is saying here that he drinks, does drugs and parties because he's just like his father and therefore that way of life is his family tradition.

It's the country music industry wanted Jr to sing like his dad. Jr wanted to sing his own songs. He did so & the industry stopped supporting him becouse of it. He was to wild in his personal life addicted to drugs & alcohol just like his dad. So he was more like his dad than people thought. Even though his music was different.
