Oh yeah, and one more thing I wanted to say for whoever comes to this video for the tutorial, he is 100% correct about taking EVERY bolt off the rear sets and applying lock tight. IMO it's probably the most important part of installing them on your bike. Because I changed my little r3 rear sets to some VERY similar to these and missed putting it on the toe piece bolts, BOTH SIDES, and actually lost the one for the shift controls on my VERY FIRST RIDE!!!!! Found it and was able to reinstall it CORRECTLY without any damage to the part, the bike or myself. Had I been in a different situation, like at highway speeds in traffic, that outcome could've been the exact opposite. So yeah guys, SUPER important to lock tight every threaded part.
you're going to have the best FZ 09 very soon. Brand new bike turned into a project bike. Nothing better than that. Like a statue of MOTO GOLD
Thanks with your guide was able to install my rearsets yesterday... Hardest part was putting back the shaft holding the swing arm...
I'm not gonna lie I absolutely love that they are a deep violet/blue in the light. Thats fuckin dope.
Awesome video the exact rearsets I was looking at getting and found your video great work!
As always great video!
Suggestion. I would love to see a video of how to install the light tech chain adjusters since is a very good product but there’s no good videos on instal for the 17+ FZ/MT-09. And again thanks for such a great channel.. keep them coming
My first comment was before watching the entire video. So I just wanted to come back and say you did a fantastic job recording and explaining the job man. Well done and appricated. By ME anyways. Still would like to hear how much change it made or is capable of making and how do you like them tho. Cause one of the main reasons I'm changing mine as soon as I pick up the bike is because I'm 6'5" tall and want to try and get into a more aggressive but comfortable position. The factory set isn't HORRIBLE, I actually have pretty much leg room, but I would like it more aggressive and to be a little more comfortable. I think if they were higher and a little further back it will help. Thanks my dude
really enjoy watching with those tools of yours...
Another nice one. I hated that Yamaha made the frame, engine and swingarm black, and did not bother to have the rearsets black as well. A clear aesthetic design flaw to me. I took mine off and powder-coated. Really happy with how they changed the look of the bike....like it should have came from the factory. You can see my bike(s) at instagram.com/DougZ73 ( youtube and twitter same DougZ73)
Would be nice if it has same finish as the rear swing arm as engine guards are the same finish! Nice vid!
Awesome how to video, nice piece of accessories...tempted again on mt09.
Super fun bike. Thanks for watching
@@MotoSouth yeah... I used to have first model of mt-09 but this new one is a huge improvement.. 👍👍
Appricate the video yo. I'm about a week away from picking up a new mt09 and this is one of the first things I'm changing when I get it. Not many videos or reviews of rearsets on the mt09. Looks like a pretty straight forward and fairly easy job. Update on how you like it and how much it changes or helps the riding.
Nice bike btw. Ride safe brother.
No complaints so far. I'll try to post an update video after I get a few miles on them
@@MotoSouth cool man, thanks
Not bad at all for a $200 set! May pick these up myself. Thanks for the tutorial bud.
Definitely a worthy upgrade. Ride safe
nice bike turns into gorgeous project bike tutorial... tnx again... watch your many vids...
super high quality video. well done mate
Thanks. And thanks for watching!
GB racing engine case would be great add on too
Well done! Many Videos available, this by far its a very good production. Thank you
So I just got a set of these and installed them today. Had some issues. Left side, the 4mm pan head bolt hits the rear sets if you try to set the arm any higher than the 7 o'clock position. My set came with 2 black spacers so I used one to space everything out so that it would have clearance.
Right side, the master cylinder mounting holes are lower and more forward than stock. Had to order a custom rear brake line 2.5" longer than stock. Also, had to screw the adjustment nut on the brake light sensor all the way up as it looks like the top of the sensor will hit the master cylinder. I won't know if everything fits until I get the new brake line in a couple days.
Really makes me wonder if they've changed the design recently. My bike is a 2016 FZ-09.
Hi! Thanks for the great video! I just ordered a new set and will be installing it soon! Only one question, what is the diameter of the pin you put trough the frame? Thanks!
At the beginning of the video I go through the tools used. The rod is 1/2” diameter. Thanks👍
Im trying to do this process, but my 09 has the original quickshifter, how do you separate the shifter from the original rearset? One end you did it on the video, but i dont know how to remove the other end that connects directly into the pedal/rearset.. It seems it does not have any bolt
hey thinking about purchasing this rearset, whats your long term review on it ? Is it still going strong ?
Still looks and performs like new
Well done, I wonder if I can use a 1/4 long socket extension since I don’t have a dowel for that swinger bolt 🤔
I have heard of people using a socket extension. Should work fine.
MotoSouth
Awesome mine just showed up yesterday with the help of this video should be a breeze thanks man 🤙🏻
MotoSouth
Dude where do these 2 black washers go!!!
Don’t remember any black washers
I love that blue toothpaste that you using😂😅👍🇵🇭🇺🇸
Tastes funny though lol
@@MotoSouth hahaha I'm just kidding man😂btw nice bikes and looking forward to the new modifications on your motorcycle.👍🇵🇭greetings from the Philippines.happy holidays back here
Bought these couse of this video! Amazing but have to i stall them at the highest point couse of the akrapovic Carbon hvitting the rear sets
Mine are slightly limited because of the length of the brake line but the exhaust isn't an issue on mine
@@MotoSouth yeah, that to haha
@@MotoSouth would it be an issue if you have a quick shifter???
Just put a quick shifter on mine. Check out the video
Why swap out the factory ones? Does it offer different heights to the rear sets? Nice units btw.
Yes. They offer different positions and they do look better 👍
well done bro ♥♥♥♥
Did you have to replace the rear brake line ? Isn’t it too short ?
No I didn’t. You won’t be able to install it in the lowest position though.
How do you like it, quality? Can you convert to GP shift?
It’s holding up great so far, still looks and performs like new. And it can be converted to GP shift
MotoSouth Awesome! I might go with this route.
How's the rigidity of these?
They have been great 👍
Do you know if the yamaha quick shifter will work with these rearsets?
I’m almost sure there are a few out there with them. I think Lextek even includes a second shift shaft in the kit now for that reason.
@@MotoSouth awesome thanks for the quick reply!
Does this put your feet more on the back than orinal peg ?
There are multiple positions possible. The position I'm using is slightly further back.
Steel used to put into the swingarm What is the diameter
1/2” is what I used
Will the quick shifter linkage fit with these sets?
If you are referring to the Annitori Quick shifter I just posted the video on...yes. Just order it with a 150mm shift rod
MotoSouth Sorry mate I should’ve been specific- I was talking about the Yamaha quickshifter. Cheers for all your videos they’ve been such a massive help!
Where did you get those stickers for your wheels?
Motoinkz.com , I have a video about them on my channel
@@MotoSouth just got done watching it thanks!
Lextek?
one click is enough when using your torque wrench
I like the verification of an extra click. Thanks 👍
what if you have the OEM quickshifter ?
You'll need to get a 115mm shift rod to accommodate the quick shifter.
I talked to lextek, and you would need to cut the supplied shift rod down, and cut new thread into the one supplied in the kit. Aaaaand you need to get a New Rose head Joint, female. But as MotoSouth says, BUY ONE. They are cheap. :-) And faaaar easier solution.
@@MotoSouth have you installed a quickshifter with them? I get my rear sets soon, and was curious about the QS. Where can I get this 115mm rod? I searched a bit, but couldn't come up with anything that looked like it was for sure what I needed
@@wheredamirrorgo7867 annitoriqs.com/115mm-shift-rod/
@@MotoSouth another great tutorial thanks dude. Lextek rearsets and protaper on the checklist 👍
I just waited 25 mins for the rear seat installation .....
Lextek is nothing more then a rebrand of chinese parts.. why are you repping there brand so hard?
One installation demonstration probably doesn’t qualify as “repping (their) brand so hard” but they have been flawless for the time I’ve had them. ✌️
