    I bought my MT07 new in 2017. I have used it locally in England and it great. I have toured the UK and its great. I have toured France and its great. I took a trip to Croatia and Slovenia in 2017 and it was great. When I tour I have a large amount of luggage and it performs and handles great. I regularly get 200 miles from a tank and its not empty at that time. I regularly get up to 70mpg if I stay within the speed limits when touring. This is a fantastic bike and has masses of torque which is great for real world riding. Hoped this helps people who are trying to decide.

    5 answers/ amendments for the 5 complaints;
    - buy an aftermarket comfort seat
    - even mega low scenario 35+ mpg is acceptable for the 3.7 tank size, which equates to 130 miles of fun. If you're going farther than that without stopping, youre on the wrong bike, which is your fault.
    - its a naked bike. Wind protection isn't even a valid complaint nor a concern. Know what bike you're buying because you are voiding your right to complain when you purchase one.
    - Almost no bike is unique in and of itself. It is how the rider dresses it which makes it unique- and therefore could easily become a one-of-a-kind motorcycle.
    - Buy an aftermarket rear shock. Use heavier fork oil to combat a springy front fork. However, neither of these are even an issue for casual riding, which negates the concern. If you bought this to race or track, you bought the wrong bike.
    Conclusion: its a near flawless bike for how its intended to be used.

    75hp not being a lot? Man, the stock bike is equivalent to a 2,500lb car with 468hp. Of course it isn't a 160-180+ hp 999cc bike but its also cheap with 75hp and tons of torque. It can definitely handle a passenger with ease.

    All valid points but easily fixable. First upgrade should be the Yamaha comfort seat. Very grippy and thick padding. Will raise the seat height a little. Small gas tank but still better mileage compared to a super sport at least vs the older models. Sport or touring windscreen solves the lack of wind protection. It’s popular because it’s fun and everyone knows it. My hi-viz yellow FZ-07 is unique now since Yamaha discontinued this colour scheme after 2018. Stock suspension sucks especially if you’re heavy but easily fixed with aftermarket replacements. My suggestion would be to look for a used FZ-07 that’s been upgraded already.

    I had the 2019 MT07. I AGREE TOTALLY WITH YOUR COMPLAINTS! The seat sucks on that bike. I traded it in on an older Ninja 1000. I traded that in on my two week old 2020 Ninja 650. So much more comfy in the saddle than the 1000. I have the KRT ABS edition. I bought the factory tail trunk kit with backrest (she likes). TST plug n play integrated turn signal/tail light (easy install), factory touring screen (still needs a deflector, I'm 6'). This bike is in the top two of bikes I've owned that was flat out comfortable, smooth power band ( won't jerk gf's neck shifting), and the new Dunlops are now my favorite tire - replacing Purelli Angel ST. This Ninja inspires you to lean more than my Ninja 1000 could. Those tires make the bike feel weighted and planted in turns way better than my 1000. The display through the app let's you even check lean angles. I commute 50 miles round trip a day. The MT07, The Ninja 1000 , and the Ninja 650 I fill every three days and never see the low fuel light. It's basically a 65-70mph cruise. At fill up with 148 miles on it I put in 2.3 gallon with the Ninja 650. I like this bike and I'm an old timer in your eyes. It does beg for a slip-on! Akropovic megaphone.
    Have you tested a 2020 Ninja 650?

    I like this review and the poor wind protection, seat comfort and fuel range are very important points.
    But I'm struggling to understand this low mpg figure.
    My 20-year-old TDM 850 does 250 miles on its full 20 litre tank - so 60 plus mpg. The important thing to note is that holding a steady speed is the key to good mpg with these engines.
    Actually the TDM also has a great fairing and pretty comfortable seat - and of course the 270 degree parallel twin engine that allowed the MT07 to come into existence. So maybe the little kid could learn a thing or two from its older brother!
