Just a tip from a former mechanic, ONLY use IMPACT sockets with an impact gun, Chrome sockets are normally weaker and will shatter. I want you to stay as pretty as you are!
A woman who loves cars is near and dear to my heart. I'm really happy I found your channel, it's like stumbling across an original 69 Mustang Mach 1 with a 428 Cobra Jet and only 10,000 original miles that's been tucked away for 40 years. As far as "Junk in the trunk", if it's your junk... just call me Fred G. Sanford! The G stands for "Good Gawd"!
ha what i did to remove the leaf springs on a rear end i got for my car was i just used an angle grinder and cut the u bolts because the nuts were refusing to come off. made the job a whole lot quicker specially since i wasnt planning on using those parts to begin with. In either case, i dont think it wouldve been an issue to unbolt the back of the leaf springs and then unbolt the front and just pulled the rear end with the leaf springs and shocks all in one go. But looks like a fun adventure regardless. Keep up the great work!
Everything you do is hysterical. Restored many early mustangs and Cougars so I know what you're going through. Every part has a specific name. Those rear leaf "brackets" you refered to are called shackles. Also when working on a 50 + year old car, spray everything with PB Blaster penetrant. Works great 👍 and saves from bloody knuckles... Keep up the good work, love watching you work.
Love your transparency your willingness to share what you are truly thinking as tackle disassembly of your Mustang. Your willingness to laugh at yourself is refreshing. You are learning things that the majority of us will never learn. Be ready to learn a bunch about welding while you blow holes 50 year old sheet metal. Whenever you can get aftermarket floor pans. And by the way I am a journeyman welding hole enlarger 😔
Rule of thumb if you are removing a gas tank it's always, full good thing it's old and has a drain plug. Always wear safety glasses and be safe. If you mark around the hood and trunk hinges before removing them will help with installation and alignment to put it back together on install. Your shorts looked fine but more light would make a better video.
I don't care what you say Doris, you have just the right amount of "Junk in the/your Trunk" Love your videos, especially when you are working on vehicles from my era.
Unlosen the top of the shock, leave it on the ground with the wheels on, remove the bolts from the shackles, raise the car and wheel away the rear end😅. Work smarter not harder😅. Keep up the good work though😊.
at my age kid I am less worried about how you look and care more about what you can do and know. understand this , I support female mechanics always have. but these days I have a product coming up and I am looking for female mechanics to learn the basics before the guys do. so you can get ahead of them for once.
You're doing a great job Doris, learning as you go, as we all did. If I may make a request, please wear your safety glasses more often. You have very pretty eyes; we want nothing to happen to them.

It's so satisfying watching everything coming apart. I always liked taking things apart, but not so good putting them back together. lol

Cars are fun but cars are more fun with Doris 😊
The hardest part of welding is convincing yourself you can do it. Lots of scrap metal and practice … you got this!.

If your not learning... 💯 with the dirty macanic jokes😂.
Love the giggle as you work through all your processes…

I can never look at the car lift the same ever again.
And what’s on the lift?, the faded red Car?
Wow! Where'd you get your training and skill from? Good work! 😮😊
All trial and error. But mainly just reading about what needs to be done, other YT videos and forums.
Thumbnail titles are legendary....
I love women that can work on car 5:58
Great content, not too bad getting dirty, the old cars can trash clothes. Great research on getting the fuel tank out,
the pre-tank strap cars.
Thank you! Tried to stay clean but that went out the door towards the end lol.

So, of the Cars present, the Viper, the Camaro or the Mustang, which do you prefer? 😊
That car will never go back together correctly,
Nothing wrong with junk in your trunk Doris! 😍
Mustang probably came with a 8-in brand on it. Get rid of that. Put a 9-in at least. 👍
