idk man, yamato just seems to be getting harder and harder to play effectively, which i dont mind, her gameplay and execution is easily the most engaging to me but im finding it harder to keep up in my games lately, i feel like other heroes take less effort to be strong
I really liked the analysis of the item changes as they relate to Yamato. I had been running Berserker instead of Kinetic Dash on her already, and now it's going to be even better. The points about Kevlar and Reverb were also solid. I had already been running that combo pre-patch and it was super strong. It was pretty rare that you needed refresher if you already had superior CD and Duration unless the team fight was crazy long. Overall, I think the changes should improve her balance. Now you're incentivized to ult before you get low, which is probably the way it should be.
You’re honestly goated for saying that guides are subjective. I do exactly as you suggest, using your guide to stay up to date and for the general build, while making small adjustments based on preferences. (superior stamina my beloved) good stuff my guy
Fred is spitting facts once again. I’ve seen people cry about “how is it unfair that Yamato’s ult got nerfed so hard!” And I just feel that they started playing Yamato only after that Ult resist/heal buff. Now ult doesn’t work as get out of the jail card, rewarding your incompetence, but works as a combo prolonging ult or something to have in a long Team vs Team fight. I still believe that Yamato ult is still strong. Those +3 seconds after getting a kill during the ult is a huge thing, which allows you to do more instant slashes with your Katana, especially against a squishy team. Really love your analysis, all points are more than valid and at first glance it seems like there’s nothing much to add. Cheers, king.
So after patch I have made a new build i kinda want you to look into it’s most of the regular items but instead of superior duration I go mystic reverb now since it offers spirit lifesteal I also run lifesteike or melee lifesteal and melee charge to make it a melee build with the new spirt strike upgrade also spirit strike resistance steal plus mystic reverb, not bad. So it’s a torment pulse cooldown lifesteal melee build. It’s called Lazy Tank Super Smash Bros Melee. If anyone wants to search it up
100% agree with your assessment of Arcane Surge. I'm sure some people will find use for it on her but not this guy lol. It is, however, bonkers on my other most played hero, Dynamo.
have you tested escalating exposure (EE) with items like torment pulse, decay, and mystic reverb? The one shot potential seems pretty cool, and you already have torment pulse which gets good gains from EE surely?
I've found myself slotting in return fire almost every game still and picking up extra regen in lane over healing rite since melee lifesteal + resto shot have been doing most of the work anyways. Feels necessary with all the buffed haze players running around.
ive been playing yamato since a little after they started letting people play, and i do feel like the ult change is good but i wonder if at this point the channel time makes much sense. it needs to be there in some capacity, not to mention its actually helpful to the yamato player as well, but it feels like it could stand to be a little shorter now that she isn't Literally Unkillable nor is it a free heal any more. i like the idea of an install ultimate where she's incentivized to go ape shit but personally i think the big focus of her ult being defense rather than offense makes it feel like a low point of her kit. that being said i am Bad so i dont know what im talking about beyond just how the character Feels to me, someone who is in Ritualist
Ig I just gotta adjust but the heal ult was nice I didn’t need to go on a rampage I just needed to not be 1 shot and then be tanky but now it’s kill reward which is ok cuz it’s balanced but it’s like now ppl are going to INT harder
Good stuff as usual. Small piece of constructive criticism. In future, are you able to keep the item build row on screen while you go over them? I find myself going back and forth to see the row and assess it as a whole while you are talking about each item. Again, good stuff, keep it up
So i just realized you can instantly parry out of your power slash. The amount of baiting you could do with that is unreal as people wouldn't expect you to just instantly use your ability and parry at the same time.
After the refresher nerfs, I'm heavily considering echo shard more often. It has a bit of spirit power which is nice, and it'll be up every time you ult rather than the once-per-millenium cooldown of refresher -- anecdotally, it's also very solid at securing kills and making sure you get the heal and extension from your ult.
@@FredTheFinch I need to test it out more, I want more experience on it before I say anything with confidence. I think it's worth at least experimenting with, though. I'm not playing at a super high level like you are so my analysis might not be as robust, but I'm trying not to think of anything as too binary.
I am kinda confused. What are you using Torment Pulse for? I understand when it's paired with Mystic Vulnerability or Escalating Exposure it's used to increase Spirit damage with each damage tick, but are there any other item interactions I'm not getting?
For farming as it hits every creep in the vicinity also what you mentioned above also. There is probs more im missing also for it to be the main focus.
What we need is analysis of your own play and why you do certain things and how you do certain things. Mechanically you're obviously very good and that's going to be hard to replicate but it could be nice to have a breakdown of your mechanics, a separate video where you show what you're doing and of course, match replay analysis so we understand where to move and what to think about.
Are there ever any games where you feel like you need armors? Sometimes there are games where I fall a bit behind and even with the resists from ult, I can never *quite* feel like I'm as durable as I need to be. If so, what items do you sacrifice to build them? Everything in the build feels like a bit of a hard sell to cut -- my first instincts are maybe enduring speed -- as much as it sucks to cut, yamato can get a lot of movement speed from ult and her 2. The other option is maybe cold front; it's definitely good as well, but if there was something to cut for defensive options somewhere, this feels like the first spirit item to consider selling later.
@@TheAxeHopper today I felt like I did, some really bad games and a LOT of resist shred. I would def drop enchanters before anything and then like duration extended or the spirit stirke upgrade most likelu
doesn't the new yamato ult just discourage participating in a teamfight unless you know you can get a kill? I agree that the get out of jail free card is stupid but wouldn't it be more effective to have more conditional buffs proc with the ult? Please let me know if otherwise, but she's too squishy to be healing only 15% off a kill and is the only viable option a lifesteal build now? I need answers please, I feel like I have no clue how to play or build her anymore
lifesteal build has p much always been how you play her, and why would you participate in a team kill if you cant kill the enemy? theyll figure out numbers over time and make it work better but its good theyre testing things
Do you no longer think Resto locket is worth it? I've been using it for a bit after you recommended it a while ago and it still feels pretty good, but I know it kinda falls off late.
def still get its one of the besr items in the game esp for its price just think of it as a temp item until leech it's tech only 625 cost since you can sell it for half the price
I'm not Fred but IMO no; the reason it was good before is because you'd get knocked to 1hp during your previous invincible ult, and you could use resto locket at the end of your ult to get a burst of HP back so you don't get killed. Now that your ult last longer, has resists, and you can die during it, all of those things make spirit lifesteal much more important IMO. You could consider getting both, since resto locket would still be reasonable if you want a cheap spirit resist item, but you'd have to cut something from the build for space, and we're already stretching our item slots pretty thin.

honestly i dont think will feel too shit after we get used to it and slashing around cover WAS crazy
@FredTheFinch all the recent nerfs feel targeted specifically towards my crutch-ass playstyle i cant

@@kered13 wanted it to be good but don’t think it’s actual great value
Now that ult has a reset mechanic, cooldown reduction might be way more valuable to hit more power slashes during it.
