The fact that young and older kratos are the same person (obviously), look like the same person in terms of features (also obviously and minus facial hair), yet my brain still has trouble believing that the man in that chair is the same man speaking to him- is such a testament to how amazing santa monica did with handling Kratos’ character arc. @@LiGhTsOuT929Kratos still displays that brutality, but he doesn’t do so with rage anymore. And as for you calling him a slow, old, boring father figure. Kratos hasn’t slowed down, he takes time to consider things, he doesn’t throw himself forward trying to kill everything because he has changed. And yes he is older, but that I can’t see how that’s a complaint. And about him being a boring father figure, how do you call all that he did from these 2 games boring? The development between Atreus and Kratos as father and son was monumental. And it all happened with reason, and the both of them getting better together. And his journey stayed just as epic as the past games, just because he wasn’t screaming every 8 seconds doesn’t mean it was worse.

They really did it. They first showed us his conflict and perseverance to make amends for everything he did with this game and the one before it. But this DLC showed us that it was more than his choices. He was devastated by the death of his family by his own hands. Led down the path of vengeance against those that wronged him and believed he had allies. Only to be betrayed (TWICE in total) and left with nothing but the promise of a blood soaked throne he never wanted. A good if intense man that while he enjoyed battle, had honor and loved his people and family. This was shown very well when he did not remember what he did in Ascension, Orkos and the Oracle. Slowly being broken down game after game until he had nothing left but to fulfil fate in rage. Which I believe showed that the gods were eventually going to turn into what they were even if the Box was never opened. The comics between GoW3 and GoW4 also tie in his reluctance when saving people. He has finally accepted Pandora's words and all aspects of himself, even the ones that were diminished and forgotten under his rage.

But they did him justice here. He's calm and patience but still know how to fight. Hell, he's more than just "know how to fight".
