    I've had a few questions about the prices of these cards since posting this video so I thought it would be good to provide an update. It has been nearly two months (3/22/24) since Nvidia released the 4080 Super for $999 and AMD has not officially dropped the price of the 7900 XTX, with the reference model selling on their website store for $999, so the data is still valid. That said, it appears that many of AMD's board partners have decided to drop the price of the 7900 XTX with models on Newegg ranging from $899 (MSI Gaming) to $1,059 (Sapphire Nitro+). As I stated in this video, $899 should be the new price for the reference 7900 XTX, and at that price it would offer better value. For the 4080 Super, availability of the Founder's Edition has been spotty at best, with no availability showing currently. There have been multiple drops at BestBuy and on the Nvidia online shop, however it appears they sell out rapidly. At Newegg the cheapest model available is $1,099 (Zotac AMP Extreme), which is a $100 premium over the base MSRP. To most people price matters, and as with any analysis you should take current conditions into consideration when making a purchasing decision ... at current pricing the cheapest available 7900 XTX is $200 less than the cheapest available 4080S, which IMO would make it a better choice.

    I like how ever reviewer says dont get the 7900xtx at that price. Only vet ot if it's 100 dollars cheaper. Well, it's 200 cheaper. Cause it's hard as all get out to find a 4080 super, let alone one a msrp. Most are going for 1200 or more. So with that logic, why not buy an xtx. That extra 200 can go towards games or upgrades.

      I agree with you … I purchased both of these cards myself at $999, so that’s how I ran my tests. In my earlier 4080 vs 7900xtx review I recommended the 7900xtx … it’s a great card. I try my best not to be biased and let the data do the talking. Thanks for watching!

    One pro that is never really mentioned for AMD GPUs is that the Adrenalin Software is really good. You can overclock or undervolt each game separate at the touch of a button. All of the driver settings, overclock, screen and video capture, game launcher, etc all on one location. Also the 24gb Vram vs the 16Vram will help to future proof the card better. In hogwarts legacy i have seen Vram usage go over 15gb on 4k max setting. People on the 3080 10gb are already having issues on their cards. This will become a bigger issues as time goes on.

    • @blackbirdpctech
      @blackbirdpctech  6 місяців тому +3

      Great comment. I agree with your statement on Adrenalin … it really is fantastic software and it is way ahead of what Nvidia currently offers … so much so that Nvidia is now developing a new app to copy it. I upgrade hardware relatively frequently so for me VRAM has never been an issue but I can understand how it potentially could be in the future.

    • @matthewjohnson3148

      By the time 24gb is needed, both GPUS will be obsolete.. the 7900xtx has more VRAM, the 4080 supers vram is a tiny bit faster. GDDR6X. I'd rather have the faster VRAM
      No GPU is future proof
      But God you're right about adrenaline, I love it. And I'll miss it with nividia. If only amd could get their shit together with ray tracing, and Better FSR support in games. They would be perfect.

      @dakbassett neither card will be obsolete for awhile. The extra vram, and higher 385 bus gives around a 6% lead in 4k in a multi game benchmark over the 4080 super.
      But at 4k you'll want to turn on upscalling, and DLSS will be a far better option, you can use both FSR and DLSS. Plus ray tracing is possible at 4k, with DLSS on.

Many 7900XTX are now below $1,000. 1 is $910 another is $930 with 6 models all under $1,000 right now. On average, it's looking like the 7900XTX is $200 less than the 4080 Super. Honestly think you should have split up the Overclock How to and information, in its own video. The only reason I clicked on this was to see the comparison. You could have made a special bit in this Versus video including the final Overclocking results and pointed to a title card that was Another video where you go into the OC part (so technically you could have made 2 video uploads from this one), that way for those that wanted that information can see it there and even those specifically searching OC knowledge could have found that video in there you could have pointed to THIS video (double the views, more coverage).
    I dont want to tell you how to upload your content but on UA-cam, Content is King, so I can see you put a lot of effort in this video but I honestly just want to seek through the timeline to get to the versus part because I am in the midst of upgrading but have no real wants to Overclock.
    Great video nonetheless, I am really leaning towards the XTX as its more futureproof compared to the 256-bit bus on the 4080S, I totally feel NV is pulling some anti-consumer crap here and crippling this card to make the 50-series stand out when it comes out. XX80 should have 320-bit bus. I have the RTX 3080 and its fine and all but I am not mainly playing on a 4k monitor and almost every game needs to be turned down or abuse DLSS.

      I appreciate your comment and I agree with your recommendation. I've been trying to add high value bonus content but what I've realized is that for it to work it needs to be really well aligned with the main title and thumbnail ... if I have to expand the title to highlight the bonus content then it shouldn't be in there and/or should be a separate video. So thanks for the feedback, it's actually really helpful to get this type of feedback from viewers because it helps me improve my content.
      Wrt buying one of these cards I would simply focus on performance and cost ... I don't think either one of these cards will be futureproof given that next gen cards will likely be here in Q4. At the moment you can buy a 7900 XTX for much less than a 4080 Super and if you compare at the same price, you can get a Sapphire Nitro+ 7900 XTX at about the same price as a 4080S Founder's Edition. The Sapphire Nitro+ is an amazing card that can overclock extremely well ... I tested it against a 4090 in my latest video and it won some rounds ... pretty impressive.

      @@blackbirdpctechFully agree, I just mean your heading should state that in the chart. For a true comparison though and end scoring, Native would have been the better options to go with in everything. As it shows a more accurate card for card performance. DLSS and FSR performance can change with just the advent of a dll version change. For instance, some versions of DLSS 3.5.xx will do better or worse including visual quality as well as over all FPS. Same will go with FSR.
      Showing the two slides side by side. A Native slide and a DLSS/FSR slide would also have been clearer. But only using the Native for your overall scoring. While a good bit of extra work. it's impossible to find a 4080 super, 4080, or 4090 at msrp prices though. Cheapest any of these normal people usually can get are usually $100 more ($500 for 4090) due to how popular RTX gpus are; while AMD 7900xtx are generally can easily be bought for $100 below msrp, which is your suggested retail price of $900, real life practicality of buying the product should be in the video buying guide.
    In short, if you can buy any of the above RTX GPU products at msrp, then that is a good deal as they retain their values over time. AMD product lose their value over time greatly so if you can afford to wait for GPUs to go on sale, then go for AMD products as they tend to be significantly cheaper at the same performances.
    Both companies are horribly over priced their products in order to squeeze profits as sadly, this is because of the current situation in the gaming gpu market with only two players, real prices of these 4080s and AMD flagship GPUs should both be $600-$800 even account for inflations. But since Nvidia successful last 30 generation attempt at cash grab, AMD don't see the why not pricing their 7900 at $1000 msrp instead like $600 previous 6900. Thus, the best GPU to buy would be AMD last gen. 6960 xt for $600 for sane, normal person. This gpu can easily game 4k with the latest games and possibly near future games too. But since the normal gaming customer are insane and disregard prices completely, pricing and energy consumption arguments are a moot point. People just want more powa, more ray tracing on charts even though gpu power performances are so extreme right now, way more powerful any future games can demand, no one could humanly tell the different between 4080 or 4090, or RT on/off between Nvidea/AMD if they don't rely on AI third party software to churn out fps numbers for them. Games frame stutters over 60 fps is very hard to notice by most normal human eyes, and beautiful graphically new current games, in 4k, even with RT on, can be consistently beaten the 60 fps mark even by AMD 6950 xt for $600. But people will pay $1800-$2000+ for RTX 4090 because the AI tell them they get double fps performances, while visually to most human eyes it is the same.
    I claim this because i have two computer with AMD 6950 xt and RTX 4090 while playing Skyrim enhanced graphic mods with 4k monitors. A small stutter difference is seen in miniscule limited time in more shoot them up graphically challenged game such as while i play cyberpunk 2077. so maybe it makes a different for the tiny group of competitive gamers in games like cyberpunk 2077, but even then the different between $600 vs $1800 for that tiny bit of visual diff. in that 1% of the time in the game. Otherwise, the only differences normal people can tell is the 67 fps vs 127 fps on third party software they have running next to their screen; these numbers are really meaningless.

    A few things I would like to add. The AMD 7900 XTX is a NVIDIA RTX 4080 competitor not the new 4080 Super. ($999 vs $1599) 7900 XTX - NVIDIA RTX 4080 non Super! Also AMD Radeon Series 7000 is on 2nd Gen Ray Tracing while NVIDIA is on 3rd Gen. NVIDIA only cares about the Ai Server Market now not gamers, because 80% of profit is in data centers. Picked up a 4080 Super at MSRP on launch day. One thing I'm particularly impressed with is the efficiency of the card. I put a decent undervolt on it and now in games it draws about 230W-245W MAX of power and at the default fan curve hung out around 51c. I just changed it for the fans to basically spin at around 1000RPM and now the card gets to 58-62c max and I can't hear it whatsoever.

    • @blackbirdpctech
      @blackbirdpctech  6 місяців тому

      The reason is because ray tracing generates much more life like images than rasterization that uses polygons to represent 3d images on a 2D screen. Nvidia RTX GPU’s can render RT images at high frame rates, as shown in the benchmark data. There is no such thing as future proof when it comes to pc tech, that is a myth.
      That said the 7900 xtx is a great gpu, but just because you own one, as I do, doesn’t mean that you should ignore the data. The 4080 super with a $200 price cut is arguably a better option, at least until AMD officially drops the price of the 7900 xtx, which I’m confident they will.

    • @blackbirdpctech
      @blackbirdpctech  6 місяців тому

      I think it’s important to highlight a few things:
      1. I purchased the 4080 Super from Nvidia on launch day for $999 … I had the same opportunity as anyone else to get the FE at that price
      2. Earlier today there was msrp priced stock at Newegg. After reading your comment I checked Newegg, Amazon and Bestbuy and I saw only one card from MSI at $1,029, the rest were from third party sellers as you stated.
      3. There is either low supply or the card is popular … my guess is that it’s probably somewhere in the middle.
      4. It’s not false to say that the two cards tested were the same price because they were. It appears that it is currently much more challenging to get a 4080 Super versus a 7900 XTX. As stated that is likely a result of popularity and limited supply.
      5. If the price of the 7900 XTX is $100+ less than the 4080 Super then I would easily recommend getting a 7900 XTX, it’s a great card.

      When the 7900 xtx was released I tried for weeks to purchase a reference model from AMD but they constantly sold out. I ended up paying more and getting a limited edition red devil card instead. That’s what manufacturers do, they don’t manufacture more cards than they think will sell because that would be stupid … they would then be left with dead inventory. The 4080S was recently released. It is obviously selling well and Nvidia will respond by manufacturing more cards to meet demand. All companies do this. Here is the key, just because you can’t buy one at msrp doesn’t mean others can’t as well. If you don’t want to wait then get a 7900 xtx, it’s a fantastic card. But that doesn’t mean the comparison between the cards should change based on your inability to get one.

    • @blackbirdpctech
      @blackbirdpctech  5 місяців тому +2

      I appreciate your comment but I strongly disagree. Ray Traced images objectively look better than Rasterized images. When RT first came out I think it would have been reasonable to call it a gimmick since it wasn't supported in many games, but things have changed significantly over the last 6 years. Saying that they can't run properly without "software trickery" is a strange thing to say given that we are talking about games and game engines that are themselves software and only "simulate" the real world. Furthermore, qualifying your statement by stating that the 7900 xtx is better if "you are really not paying attention" and only if playing on an OLED that is properly calibrated is not logical ... all games look better on a properly calibrated OLED, that's why OLED monitors are popular. Even frame generation techniques that create new frames are fine as long as the quality is maintained ... the only downside is an increase in latency, which Nvidia is addressing with Reflex. I would however agree that Path Tracing is beyond current gen hardware.
      I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion that AMD is more impressive when “you really think about it” ... if you really think about it you would see that Nvidia's 4000 series competes with AMD's 7000 series at half the power draw, which is actually very impressive. It is basically the same thing that AMD is doing to Intel with CPU's, which is also impressive.
      I state that I am a former rocket scientist at the start of my videos to set myself apart from the many clowns that have tech UA-cam channels without any meaningful technical background. My guess is that most people who watch my content don't look at my origin story video which explains my background in greater detail.
