I recommend to watch this video on a PC Monitor or TV, because of the triple screen viewing. To small on a smartphone display and you can not see everything in full glory! - Ігри
One Voodoo2 card was great, 2 of them and you had a beast of a setup. Then comes the Voodoo3 matching the Voodoo2 SLI setup in performance. This video demonstrates just how powerful the Voodoo3 card was when it was released. And all this time i thought there was no way it would be close to performing like a Voodoo 2 SLI setup. Thanks for the video. I enjoy these videos more than the shit everyone else releases with the latest hardware/games.
Yeah back in 1998 i was still using my Amiga 1200 for my main rig until i got my first PC over 2 years later. There was no way i could afford any voodoo2 cards back then, but thanks to me buying a lot of parts in more recent times before the prices increased, i now have a Pentium 2 system with Voodoo 2's in SLI and i have a all the parts to complete my Pentium 3 build with a Voodoo 3 but life and other hobbies always keep me from completing this computer.
I used a PCI Banshee to play Unreal back in the day. It got the job done. Voodoo 3 was basically Banshee on steroids.
Voodoo3 was a great first gaming card. Games were smooth, fast and beautiful. It was widely acknowledged and having almost no game compatibility issues and I never experienced any myself. Everything worked! And V2sli + 2D in one card, with passive cooling only, a dynamite package. Surprised the banshee did so well, considering that a V2sli has 4 tmus against the banshees one. Then again, I suppose that not every single surface, object and actor required multipass textures.
Nice, I have a voodoo 3 3000 agp, and I just bought Ensoniq voodoo banshee for 50$
fun conversion done unreal1 to ut99,
banshee 98
sli 98
v3 99
voodoo3 quickest results
two other official performence jumps will be v4 and v5
heh nice to see colorful unreal engine 1 on 3dfx cards
thanks!
Great! I love this comparison videos!
Thanks! Great video!
Insta-like. Will watch when I get home from work!
Great in-game music!
Danke für den coolen Vergleich. Grüße
The lightmaps looked a little nicer on the SLI, the Banshee seemed to be the sharpest, and the v3 was somewhat faster. My v2 sli system right now is centered around a Dell XPS Pentium 2 450 on BX chipset. Primary card is swapped between a Riva 128 and Gforce 3.
Where did you spot the lightmap differences?
Nice system, I love the 440BX chipset. What do you need the Riva 128 for?

You have to come up with the idea, great!
Impressive idea! 😮
I just see the first secconds and soon have to "like" it for the music:-) Thank you for your work, great video. I think the V3 is the best deal. V2 SLI more expensive and only suitable for retro enthusiasts that can afford it. The Banchee is a good choice if you can get it for good money. Its speed is fine for glide gaming if you're allright with resolutions below 1024x768. Back then, we were totally happy with 30 FPS, weren't we?
Unreal Nali Castle! ❤️
*_3dfx Voodoo mein Gott was waren das noch für Zeiten_*
Diese Zeiten pflege ich weiter. 😀
Gaming @60fps ftw! The Banshee did a great Job! Only 1TMU and 100Mhz Coreclock, but the performance from a single Voodoo2. (wich couldn´t run 1024x768)
@Super Mario Yes i liked the banshee in the old day´s too. But iam surprised. In this video the banshee performed very well against the voodoo2 sli setup. Half framerate, but banshee had only one TMU and only 10mhz advantages of v2.
Head Shot! 7:18 👏
This video like an action cool movie 😎. Starting Arnold Schwarzenegger
Cool video thanks, the banshee is the lowest in fps, the V2 SLi is nice and solid performance but have a lot of troubles in the textures rendering, the V3 is the best in graphics and solid rendering. thanks for the nice comparison.
I think you mean the black lines/glitches? This is normal with Voodoo 2 in SLI mode (only visible in SLI mode!) and disabled Vsync. It goes away with enabled Vsync. I don't have problems with this lines and always play with Vsync off on Voodoo 2 in SLI.
Is a mod exist who has the hability to add the 3d performence of your voodoo + the 3d performence of your Banshee since They are the same technology ?
My very first GPU, Voodoo 2
Is it me, or the Banshee seems to display a less dark image?
Right! It is a little bit brighter.
@@3DfxAslinger I own a Voodoo 3 today, working on a vintage gaming setup. But back in the day, I owned a single Voodoo 2 (Diamond Multimedia "Monster"). Contrary to what some people complain about Voodoo 2 being too bright, in my case it produced a quite dim image, which I would rather wasn´t the case. Maybe it was related to the passthrough implementation.
You also have tried different rgb gamma settings in the 3dfx control panel? Try to lower it.
@@3DfxAslinger Oh, no, I don´t have that dim image anymore with my current Voodoo 3. I was talking about my Voodoo 2 years, unfortunately I don´t own a Voodoo 2 anymore. Thanks for the tip anyway!
Still have my old V3 3000 AGP, that I have bought back in the day! Nice video!
Pretty sure original unreal supports timedemo.. during the flyby demo just bring down the console and type 'timedemo' for a benchmark, or time 'stat fps' during game to get average fps
Yes, but only the flyby scene (already made a video of this) scene. But if you want to self record a scene what you want, you have to choose Unreal Tournament. Here you can record a map what you want and can use it for benchmarks or comparings.
Interesting video! I thought voodoo3 would have the best image quality, thats what I heard. But I think voodoo 2 sli looked the best here. Perhaps it depends on the game?
Big thanks!I think you have watched this video on a Monitor/TV (>27") and not on the Smartphone/Tablet (not recommended) to see in all full glory? The Voodoo 3 should have the best image quality, Voodoo 2 is also nice, but you can see the SLI black lines, when Vsync is off. Also philscomputerlab has written about it: Page 32: www.philscomputerlab.com/voodoo-2-and-sli-processor-scaling-project.html
@@3DfxAslinger I watched on a 24" 1080p monitor
Thanks for your input! 👍🏻
@@3DfxAslinger are the voodoo2’s faster tho? Ik they have a softer image but the lighting look better in my opinion and the voodoo3 looks a little washed out
Would V3 2000 perform worse than V2SLI (even if slightly) in this test?
Yes, about 8 fps lower average frames. Voodoo 2 SLI is in the level of a V3 2000 - 3000, depending on the CPU, game and resolution.
I see, thanks for the video.
I want to see results on celeron 300A!
The used system for this video is my V2 SLI system, already posted on Instagram. I am looking for a Celeron 300A to tune it to 450 MHz.
@@3DfxAslinger yes, I saw. I have 300A Slot1 and 333 Socket 370. Both are best for overclocking!))
The voodoo 2 looked the best to me, but you could see a bit of that SLI choppiness. The voodoo 3 was about the same, but the colors seemed a bit less deep and I kept noticing weird animation glitches on that card that weren't coming through on the other two. Not sure if that was from the gfx card or from software weirdness. The banshee was just hanging on, but TBH back in the day I would have still played on it.
SLI from 3dfx was never choppy, in ran absolutely smooth. Have you ever had a Voodoo SLI? Its a complete different type of SLI as Nvidias Technology.
@@mTwMarco I was just assessing what I could see in the video, not my own personal experience.
yes, v3 2000 is slower tnen v2 SLI!
@Super Mario ok. Tnx!
@Super Mario what is 22bit mode?
@Super Mario nice. Got it!
listen...
I'd totally choose for the best of the best 90s gaming pc, configuration:
-InWin A500
-Asus P3B-F
-Pentium 3 800-1000
-matrox 2d
-voodoo 2 SLi
-Aureal vortex 2
the fastest would be gf256 of course, but SLI is more unique and matrox has much better 2d capabilities than gf256 :)
São suas essas placas?
You mean the music?
@@3DfxAslinger sorry i should speak portuguese. I wonder if these video cards are yours.
Yes, all.
@@3DfxAslinger congratulations on having these boards. I was great admirer and user of vodoo
try a quality card next time around:
Creative Labs 3D Blaster 3Dfx Voodoo Banshee CT6750 Graphics Card AGP 16MB 98’
The Banshee is really slow in games which use multitexturing.
But still playable in 1024x768. 😉
Hi! I'm here!
