Are you homesteading? Would you like to? What questions or comments do you have for me?
I’m not a homesteader yet. But I would like to. With multiple allergies it would be in my best health interest.
I haven't written before but have been watching your videos for about a month now. The first video was on darning socks.
A friend and neighbor gave me a loaf of sourdough about the time I found you on UA-cam. You have SO many wonderful videos! I have watched the sourdough ones over and over. I've been baking sourdough bread for a bit now. I plan to enroll in the course but want to buy more supplies before I do.
I grew up the way you did. My family had a farm and animals and did all you are speaking of. I'm getting back to living my life the way I grew up. Thank you for all the education and encouragement!
@@ccurrywright nice and good for you!! Nothing like reconnecting to your roots! As for the sourdough course, you will not need a lot of supplies to get started but it will be there for you when you're ready 😊~ Anja
I found you through Mary’s Nest!! We want to move within the next few years and I can’t wait!! We are older but definetly want to live this lifestyle!! Aufweidersehn!!
Nice! Yes, we're loving this life! Thank you so much for your nice comment and good luck 😊 ~ Anja
HOMESTED HEART SENT ME TO YOU. SHE IS TOP NOTCH. SHE N MR. H DO IT ALL...I LIKE HER EASY WAYS. WILL BE WATCHING AND LEARNING. PRAYERS FROM THE NORTH GEORGIA MOUNTIANS.
This is great! I always secretly like to think I’m « homesteading » here in Paris (kefir, bread, canning, horse chestnut laundry detergent foraged in the Tuileries Garden... today my husband and I collected firewood that had amassed on the banks of the Seine by the Louvre museum) but I’ve felt silly thinking of it in that way. I feel less of a complex after watching this! Thanks. 🙏🏻
Hello there in Paris! Yes, you can homestead YOUR way no matter where you live! Thank you so much for sharing and for your sweet comment 💛 ~ Anja
Loving that I have found your channel. We have a 20 sq m veg plot in our garden plus I grow a few veggies in the flower beds too! We have tomatoes, runner beans, garlic, chard, apples, pears, grapes, plums, butternut squash, courgettes, rhubarb and strawberries. Not a bad haul for cold London. Bananas will always be a problem I fear😂😂
That is awesome!
Love your videos.... especially : your method on How to keep a sourdough starter with No Feedings and No Discard... it's amazing.... works for me perfectly.... 🇨🇦🇵🇱
I am so glad you like my SD methods and my videos!! Thank you so much for your sweet comment 💛 ~ Anja
Thank you for sharing, recently made your sourdough starter and made bread from it delicious!!
That makes me so happy to read that! Thank you so much for sharing and for commenting 💛 ~ Anja
Beautiful job, Anja! How wonderful that you are teaching people how they can homestead in any situation. My parents and grandparents lived in more urban/suburban areas and always grew fruit trees in their yards, canned jams and jellies, baked pies and bread, and had a vegetable garden. Lovely video.
Aww ... thank you! I am so glad you like this! It's a bit more rambly than I wanted it to be ... Thank you for sharing about your parents and grandparents and your sweet comment 💛 ~ Anja
Loving all your vlogs!
Thank you so much 💛 ~ Anja
Thanks so much for sharing! Your homestead inspires me so much!
Aww .... thank you so much! It‘s nice to know I can make people feel more empowered 💛 ~ Anja
Greetings Our Gabled Home, thanks for sharing parts of your life's journey with us and much continued success! 👋🏻
thank you! I am so glad you enjoy this video 💛 ~ Anja
I feel a little late to the party. Came via your sourdough starter video. Thanks for inspiring sustainable living for those of us who aren't as rural as we'd like to be. These videos make healthy choices feel possible. I live 20 min outside of Ottawa, Canada and have wonderful access to farmers markets and organics but since the pandemic have worked on growing and making my own food and items. It's a learning curve for certain but so rewarding and now my daughter who lives in the city has started following what I'm doing. I will definitely send her to your channel. Thanks so much! Hopefully things will open in the spring so we can better support our small local businesses and supplement the wonderful skills you are teaching us here!
Yay! I am so happy to hear that you find my video inspiring! It sure sounds like you are on a good journey. Happy homemaking and homesteading and thank you for your sweet comment 💛😍💛 ~ Anja
This is a great video. I appreciate that you include everyone from Condo onward . You are an inspiration and I appreciate your efforts.
Yay! I believe you can "homestead" no matter where you live! Thank you for your sweet comment 💛 ~ Anja
So glad I came across you through your no-feed sourdough start. I'm great with the vegetable garden & cooking but the baking is like capturing the unicorn for me. I come from a similar background as my grandmother had a dairy farm and the other grandmother was heavy into botany. So glad to see the Homestead Community flourishing
Aww ... thank you so much for sharing and for your sweet comment 💛 ~ Anja
Thank you Anja for making homesteading sound like a real attainable goal. I follow several homesteaders who I love to bits, but their lifestyle seems out of reach for me. I live in a suburban neighborhood with a small backyard not even big enough for chickens. I do what I can, but I don't feel like a "real" homesteader. I appreciate your advice here and will be adding on gradually to what I do as I am able. 😊
I think homesteading is an attitude and a lifestyle that you can do anywhere! Focus on what you CAN do vs what you can't and enjoy the journey 💛 ~ Anja
Sometimes I get discouraged because I’m not able to do it all!
Thank you so much for this video! I think I now realize that it’s ok and what I’m doing is good regardless especially since I work 40 hours a week.
I was surprised that you live in CA. I live in CA as well with lots of shade. It’s definitely my number one challenge. I’m definitely going to check out your ebook. Thank you for your videos I love them all.
It's best to focus on what you CAN do versus what you CANNOT do. Thank you so much for your sweet comment 💛 ~ Anja
Wow! This is great! How did I ever miss this video! I have been on this journey for a little while and I guess I never thought of it as homesteading since I don't have cows or goats etc.. although I've always wanted to homestead. I do have chickens though lol... I love how you said it doesn't have to be perfect and just have fun with it! I just wish I had more time. I just bought your book and can't wait to get into it. Thanks for all that you do and for inspiring so many of us. ❤️
Aww, you are so sweet, Lourdes! I am so, so happy to hear that you find this inspirational! Happy homesteading 💓 ~ Anja

Can’t wait for the smoked salmon recipe
Yay! Thank you! Can‘t wait to share it 💛 ~ Anja
I want to make yogurt but am a bit nervous! Can you do a simple video!! You are an inspiration!
Here's a yogurt video you can watch: ua-cam.com/video/VCEB5VIsdmQ/v-deo.html 😊 ~ Anja
@@OurGabledHome oh thank you!!!!!!
Is it cheaper to grind your grains for flours versus buying flour
It depends! If you buy in bulk and don't have to pay a lot for shipping, then yes. Especially when you think about how much fresher and nutrient-dense your flour will be (store-bought whole grain flour goes rancid pretty quick) ~ Anja
I am only a couple years into all the changes. In the begining I felt so overwhelmed. So many things I wanted to try and do. Once i figured out that I should do just one or two things at a time and once I got that, then move to the next. That makes it easier. I also think it is a constant learning thing.
Yes, it is easy to get overwhelmed but focusing on just a few things at a time is the way to go until you get the hang of things. Thank you so much for commenting and happy homesteading 💛 ~ Anja
