So glad you covered this. Suzanne Morphew deserves justice. I was part of a group of people that searched for her in Salida led by her sweet brother Andy. How BM continues to live on her money and his girlfriend Sheila defies all I have known about this world. 😢
That is actually pretty common hunter behavior. Millions of hunters do the same things, and they are not psychos. I have no clue if this guy did anything or not, but bad hunting practices, or pest removal is not the signs of a psycho. Pest removal is so common that some states actually pay people to do it. For example, hogs are such a problem, some states will pay people to shoot hogs on their own property. In several states it is common to see huge round cages, and those cages are to trap animals inside then shoot them. I do not like any of these practices, but yes they are all common. So common for people to knockout animals and take certain parts that the government has made it illegal to sell things like antlers, turkey beards etc. Hunters these days are obsessed with trophies, and will do just about anything to get antlers or other removable parts of an animal. Shed hunting is literally one of the most popular hobbies with hunters. They simply walk all day long, and their only goal is to find antlers. The whole animal thing is the one thing that absolutely points to nothing, and is super common. In 5 seconds you can find several videos of people sitting in their yards shooting several different types of animals. From groundhogs, chipmunks, coyotes etc.
The third story is incredible in terms the family of the two girls was able to overcome the trauma. I am grateful they have shared their stories and their feelings. God bless them.
We've had a chipmunk living under our front porch for years. They only live about 3 years, so it's probably different ones, but we've had no problems. Killing a harmless animal like that says a lot about a person.
😂 1 of the best memories of my Dad was sitting on his couch and all the sudden 2 chippes came inside and crawled into the 25lb bag of seed. I was like "Dad, 2 chippes are in the seed!!!" He laughed and said " yep, it's Chip and Dale self serve, but they leave enough for my cardinals!" 😂
You must never have had to battle chipmunks that are eating your garden vegetables and flower bulbs etc. Did you ever set mouse or rat traps? They are beautiful little mammals too that you could have live in your walls.

out of all the cases in this episode, that case has the most reasonable doubt with actual professional statements that support the defense. it was unfortunate but it's unfair to pin a man down just because a detective can't let it go. look up the case, the paramedics were the ones in the house and they testified that the body was still pliable when they arrived adding the boys' testimony about their mom being alive just as they were heading out. Those alone destroys the prosecutions' out of reach statements.
@@soyi4357 "Actual professional statements that support the defense"? Professional statements of "professionals" that never actually view the body, just pictures, vs the professional that was there on the day & DID see the body. And paramedics 10yrs later? Really?. The boys said what their father wanted them to say. Oh and that missing pillow got up & walked out the house.
The defense never gave a reason as to why the body was found that way. The body had to be tampered with. There is no possibility the arms just ended up that way without resting on something for quite some time after death. Unless she was posed that way by Curt prior to calling authorities. @soyi4357
I don't believe a word that his second wife is saying. She seems extremely jealous of his first wife and that's why she was so obnoxious to the children from his first marriage. When second wife is testifying and there has been a bitter divorce, I don't believe anything that comes out of her mouth.
Suzanne Morphew, 49, vanished while on a bike ride in May 2020. Her husband was initially charged in the killing, but prosecutors dropped the charges in 2022, saying they had hoped her body would be found. Morphew’s remains were discovered in September 2023 roughly 50 miles south from where she was reported missing. No one is currently charged in the case.
No doubt in my mind! From the very beginning… knew he was lying his face off. When are these men gonna figure out they’re not gonna get away with it. Stupid is as stupid does!!
Yeah, please pray also for me, please! Two week ago, my first Doggy died, today we discovered, that the second One has also cancer ! And I don’t have not the possibility to get a treatment! It is to expensive 😭For that I beg for prayer 🥹Thank you!
And how do they know the “spy pen” was Suzanne’s to catch her husband? No way is she going to forget that pen is there IF IT WAS HERS. Husband bought it.
Anyone who harms animals- it's just a matter of time before they move on to people. Sicko. What a waste of a precious life. My heart goes out to her family.
Curtis is either the best actor on the planet or he genuinely had nothing to do with it. My mom passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at 47. My dad and I were both devastated. Worst day of both of our lives. I could not imagine being put through a whole investigation and trials after that. And if anyone’s wondering, yes they do investigations for all untimely deaths (at least they do out here in my state). We were interviewed (not interrogated), cops in the house, full autopsy and all the things. I’m glad they do that and understand the necessity but my point is, that alone is incredibly invasive when you’re trying to process the trauma of your closest loved one dead on the floor with their clothes being cut off by paramedics attempting to be revived. I hope that after being found not guilty the family pursued something civilly. But most importantly, I hope the family has found peace and is healing. 🙏🏼
I pray that there’s justice for this lovely lady who didn’t need to die. She wanted a divorce. Some man cannot let go. I’m glad that they recovered her body. Can’t wait to seeJustice done.👏👏
If she wanted a divorce she should have got one instead of screwing around on her husband of almost 30 years. She and her boyfriend both are pretty pathetic! 🙄
@26:38 That video Barry put out asking for Suzanne's safe return looks extremely suspicious. He looks like a little kid who's pretending to be sick so that they can stay home from school. Barry's face: 😮💨
His "plea" that Suzanne be found is almost exactly the same as the one Chris Watts made on the porch of his house when his wife and daughters were "missing".
Grew up in Alexandria with the morphews. Barry did this. He's an egotistical guy who thinks all women in his life should bow down to him. So sad their girls have betrayed their beautiful momma. Praying for justice to eventually be done. As much as we can have in this earth
For this brave father to pretend to be dead, run into a burning house to get in the shower to put the fire out on himself and then get on that snowmobile half naked in freezing temps to go save his girls, I don't know if bravery could be greater than that.

WOW! - Linae and Trish's story touched me so deeply. I'm so pleased that the evilness of this tragedy never defined them, and it never took away beautiful memories of their previous chapter. That home is so beautiful. Their embrace of the intention for tranquility is palpable. I guess forgiveness bears its own gifts. May these people all flourish as they continue the thread of L❤️VE ... this is a testament to THERE ACTUALLY ONLY BEING L❤️VE - the strongest and most pure emotion on earth ❣️
Barry did it. DA Linda Stanley is responsible for his release. Let’s arrest him and get this case started again. The 12th district needs to get off their arses and proceed already. Justice for Suzanne. THERE WAS NO BIKE RIDE!
The DA actually did the right thing. Had he gone to court people would say he’s innocent. Especially since the car data was not allowed. And you can’t try a person twice for the same thing But as far as he hasn’t been exonerated he can be sued when they find new evidence
@ Linda Stanley failed to turn over discovery timely which resulted in numerous suppressed rulings of crucial evidence as a sanction. That is what occurred. Now she’s been disbarred as a result. It was only after her blatant mishandling that the prosecutions case in chief was crippled forcing her hand to dismiss. Stanley also leaked information to a UA-cam creator. Knowing she was being investigated for ethics also played a role. Since Suzanne’s body was found in the 12th districts jurisdiction, they need to step up. The 13th handling was an embarrassment. The BAM tranquilizer in her system revealed at autopsy, combined with all the circumstantial inculpatory evidence - should be more than enough to recharge Barry with confidence. Her incompetence is no longer a factor. Barry can’t afford pittbull Iris now. Reset the board and play Chess. Justice for Suzanne !
Does anybody else do this? Watch true crime on your cell phone while a different true crime show is streaming on the big screen tv at the foot of your bed? I can't get enough of the stuff!
Way too many people live in fantasy land about storybook marriages , perfect couples etc. NOBODY is perfect. Nobody has a perfect marriage, and nobody knows what really goes on in a couples marriage. Nobody.
I love how these families are ALWAYS described as 'perfect'. Nothing is perfect, and for sure, these families are as far away from 'perfect' as can be!
The horror that those 2 young women went through defies all logic and reason. Yet what I have taken away from this tragedy is love and the unbreakable bonds of family. It jumps from the screen, grabbing you by your heart and soul. The lessons that are learned in the retelling of their story, the courage it takes to help other survivors humbles me to my core. May the names and lives of those lost that day never be forgotten. I for one am going to call those I love and thank them for being in my life and how grateful I am for their continued love and support. No one is guaranteed tomorrow and I don't want a moment to slip away without telling them three simple but powerful words. I love you.
What jumps out for me is how much morals have REALLY gone down. I think the things that men are doing these days, the pity parties, the woman-blaming, the incels who THINK they are great people but can't get a female and then become female-haters. I think a lot of this girl-hater club stuff has a relationship with the rise of the 👿 djt
It's amazing, Barry treats her like a piece of crap, talks to her like a piece of crap, and then gets mad and kills her when she finds someone else. You can't make this stuff up.
Yep, but if they can't come up with enough solid evidence, he may get away with it. And he's got the girls on his side, but for just how long, remains to be seen. Once they've married and have kids of their own, they may come to their senses regarding their father.
Thank you, 48 Hours, for letting the sisters, their father, and their uncle to tell us the audience and in their own words, what the two criminals perpetrated, without extending the telling by journalists asking unnecessary and disruptive questions. Respect! Sorrow! Too bad Google has to disrupt programs by insipid ads for the kind of crap so many Americans apparently cannot live without. At least we are no longer burdened presently by ads in support of domestic terrorists running for elective office.
I hope, if anything bad ever happens to me there'll be a determined detective that never knew me from a paint-can that will decide they will find me justice. THESE INDIVIDUALS ARE ANGELS ON THIS EARTH... ❤
Barry is totally guilty and how sickening that room full of deer heads and antlers. This is a sick person. Someday everyone will know what this man did to his wife. I hope it’s revealed in a courtroom.
One hour after my mum passed away, her body was hard as a rock. I remember minutes after she passed, her hands and arms were starting to freeze and harden.
Wonder if this is factored in for poor circulation and anemia. If she had an eating disorder both of these are likely. Because many people with these issues will already have poor blood flow to the limbs. Even cold will start making them stiffen and difficult to move. Back when I had an eating disorder I’d shower up to three times a day to get warm.
My heart hurt so bad for these girls, their mom ,grams, and Dad . Why ? Why are there so many hurtful people in our lives? Please dear Lord I beg of you to give these two sweet women peace in their lifetime . Such a horrific story. May the deceased live in heavenly peace till we all meet again❤❤❤❤
Oh the last story, that is heartbreaking, how horrific these sisters saw their Mom, Grams, Dad shot by these 2 worthless pcs of flesh. The Dad survived then cancer,,wow ,The whole story with court & these 2 close sisters, imo should have sought out therapy, but I’m so relieved they are happy & Linea seems well adjusted & has a great husband, I hope they get family counseling to help with any issues of joining families, wish both sisters & families peace & much love & happiness.❤️🙏✝️
I'm surprised they found her remains. I used to live in Colorado in the mountains. There's so much empty space, plus defunct mine shafts and caves...the searchers must have been so dedicated and hard working...Good job guys! J/S
I lived in this area and the DV is insane. I don't think there's going to be any justice for Suzanne.😢 I remember after a girl I worked with named Trista went and got a restraining order in the courthouse there her spouse went right from the courthouse to Gibson's and bought a firearm. (No waiting. In Colorado) He kidnapped her at gunpoint and took her up right by my house unlived both of them. Around this same time I'm listening to the right wing radio station there the little one and one of the preachers is preaching that women need to stay with their abusers to be good Christians because Lot's wife did ☠️ I'm sure this brainwashing was used on her too.
I never comment but I felt propelled to. That last story is so extraordinary but in the most tragic way but that family is an absolutely beautiful and profound family.
Oh my goodness I pray this girl never feels badly that she didn’t give her mom a hug . Moms don’t ever think about those fights that argument will never even crossed her mind. She loves her children. You can see how much these parents adored their children. . Thank God for that Uncle and the Aunt that helped them recover. You can see they come from a really lovely family. Those girls have nothing to feel guilty about
I spend all these years waiting for Mr Morphew’s definite arrest. It didn’t happen, neither when Suzanne remains were discovered. Her sister didn’t realise that the gruesame😢findings of Suzanne would’nt bring her killer to prison. What the Heck?😮
@ I absolutely know that .. I just read a story on this. I’ve been following it since the beginning. I just found out that he tried to sue them and he lost. But I also read that a lot of things were botched by the investigation pretty sad.
News from the autopsy report for Suzanne: "The report found that she died from intoxication by butorphanol, azaperone, and medetomidine." Well well well, tranquilisers.
IMO, he is a cold-blooded murderer. Turning to the mother and saying as he walk away - "Oh, by-the-way...Cori is dead." Who does that but an egotistical, entitled, evil, devil. Where's the missing pillow? Her arms tells the picture.

Yes , there’s reasonable doubt but it’s suspicious
The defense never gave a reason as to why the body was found that way. The body had to be tampered with. There is no possibility the arms just ended up that way without resting on something for quite some time after death. Unless she was posed that way by Curt prior to calling authorities. @soyi4357
I don't believe a word that his second wife is saying. She seems extremely jealous of his first wife and that's why she was so obnoxious to the children from his first marriage. When second wife is testifying and there has been a bitter divorce, I don't believe anything that comes out of her mouth.
I want justice for Suzanne! To all those women living in fear and are trapped.

That ex-wife on the stand, her fake crying (no tears) was so bad. I don't believe for a moment the husband did anything to her.

Look at the act she put on just drinking the water. 'Anybody looking at me, I'll just close my eyes and start shaking.'

No doubt in my mind! From the very beginning… knew he was lying his face off. When are these men gonna figure out they’re not gonna get away with it. Stupid is as stupid does!!

And how do they know the “spy pen” was Suzanne’s to catch her husband? No way is she going to forget that pen is there IF IT WAS HERS. Husband bought it.
They said someone gave it to her.
Anyone who harms animals- it's just a matter of time before they move on to people. Sicko. What a waste of a precious life. My heart goes out to her family.
Reading this comment eating a chicken sandwich , all of a sudden had a taste for human flesh , who knew? How true a comment could be ..
Curtis is guilty. The jury was too naive to see that.
His ummm and ahhh between his words are red flags for deception.
Sorry for your loss 🙏🏼.
I did read Curtis won a 4.5 million lawsuit against Illinois State and he is still practicing law.
He strikes me as pretty believable. I'm so sorry for your loss and everything you went through afterwards.
I'm a great judge of character, and in my opinion, the jury got it right!
He kept shaking his head no while pleading she be found.. looks very susss to us
His "plea" that Suzanne be found is almost exactly the same as the one Chris Watts made on the porch of his house when his wife and daughters were "missing".

its always so sad to me how these kids standby their murdering parents until the end. I know it's a hard place to be in. just so unfortunate.
It pays. Suzanne's money.
Grew up in Alexandria with the morphews. Barry did this. He's an egotistical guy who thinks all women in his life should bow down to him. So sad their girls have betrayed their beautiful momma. Praying for justice to eventually be done. As much as we can have in this earth
I think he did it too. Even though they found another man’s DNA , I think the husband put them up to it.
So, Suzanne’s Morphew’s body was found with a drug cocktail used to subdue animals in her system and he hasn’t been recharged?
And don't meet him for a "final goodbye". It will be a FINAL goodbye.
how is this murderer still walking free.....

@@aliciakillen1940I saw the same thing happen to someone who isn’t but was obviously guilty.

The daughter is correct.
Forgiving someone is for YOU. Not for them.
I know I have lived through 2 different family murders. I would not be who I am today without having lived through what I did.
These 2 ladies are very brave. They refuse to be the victim.🕊🕊
How long did it take you? I believe those who past would want us to forgive others for ourselves but it is the hardest thing
Exactly. Well said.
Yes!
Wow all three of these stories were GREAT. Horrific but great in terms of riveting.
WOW! - Linae and Trish's story touched me so deeply.
I'm so pleased that the evilness of this tragedy never defined them, and it never took away beautiful memories of their previous chapter.
That home is so beautiful. Their embrace of the intention for tranquility is palpable.

Last one is straight out of a horror film. The survivors are strong.
Agree, the last one sounds like a movie. Perhaps it should be - a tale of love, strength and overcoming.
Ladies don’t breakup with your dude without a bodyguard 😮
Love, romance, boyfriends, relationships and marriage are overrated.
And you can’t try a person twice for the same thing
But as far as he hasn’t been exonerated he can be sued when they find new evidence
Barry: “We will do everything possible to bring her home” as he is nodding no with his head

Way too many people live in fantasy land about storybook marriages , perfect couples etc. NOBODY is perfect.
Nobody has a perfect marriage, and nobody knows what really goes on in a couples marriage. Nobody.
I concur!

Yep, but if they can't come up with enough solid evidence, he may get away with it. And he's got the girls on his side, but for just how long, remains to be seen. Once they've married and have kids of their own, they may come to their senses regarding their father.

Wonder if this is factored in for poor circulation and anemia. If she had an eating disorder both of these are likely. Because many people with these issues will already have poor blood flow to the limbs. Even cold will start making them stiffen and difficult to move.
