Bob Grey in fact play with triggers is harder than with microphones, cuse when you use triggers you are exposed to show more easily any fail of bad timing.

I am Arcania well yeah, but how does one mess up playing fast, Feet are easy to keep at a constant tempo. Only difficult thing is the sound. Only thing you can mess up is the hands. I understand missing kicks if you are doing triplets or gallops, but you dont really need triggers for that.
To constantly play that type of stuff during tours must be hard. Yeah, you need to be in shape I guess. Take a drummer like Danny Carey for example. That guy is a stud. He has nice pipes, so yeah I guess he workout :=) I do, but not drumming specific. I train Muay-thai and boxing as well, so...
Such a lovely guy with lots of time to speak to people - had a few ciggies with him outside a drumming festival in Australia and we talked shop :) Such a gentle person.

BTW I'm a drummer of 20 years, I may presents my self as a former drummer of black metal and death metal band, but I also play in another band of underground music that play a mix of (funk, experimental, progressive rock, oriental blues, psychedelic rock, electronic music, and some times we jam playing jazz) And those two band were active for more than 10 years (there's no big production but we have played and composed a lot and released some track on the internet lately)
I don't like his style but he is a legend. He is on another level, surely above the rest of us. And I forget where but somewhere on youtube there's a video of him playing some funk jazz shit and he delivered tastefully! Much more diverse than just metal, this is why I appreciate him so much! Just don't like the genre he seems to specialize in.
George's style shares speed and precision that is reminiscent to some of Gene Hoglan's works. Even though I agree that drumming is not about speed, both of them are really, really good at staying very precise at high tempos. Also, George's footwork is DIALED!!
Everyone go check out George kollias, his solo project called INVICTUS.. he plays EVERYTHING on that album.. guitar, bass, drums.. everything.. it is fucking sick as fuck.. it just come out a couple months ago and it is extreme at its best.. brutal shit.. check it out..
Young drummers, buy this DVD set!!!!! No greater learning tool exists. If you want to kickstart your way towards a career of playing tired 80's flavored metal, all of which sounds comically similar, to an audience of teenage boys with social issues, bad skin, and who haven't seen vagina since they were born....this is a great start!

I used to play drums. It's very physical, Workout in and of itself. George is a freakin god. Hats off to this guy.
