Stage Custom Birch sounds amazing for the price. Such a great value!
That Milestone Fiber glass was the most unique sounding to my ear. That thing had a whole vibe going that I really loved. Definity my number one. I also really digged the joyful noise.
Yep. Great comment. Agree with your ear.
I believe they're being built by Ronn Dunnett now...that could be why.
Love that 590 - a longtime favorite.
Why did you have to show us that Sonor Sig HLD 590??? She's a beauty and a beast!!! My fav!
Good snare drums here... but when this HLD 590 came on it vanquished everything before it. Ridiculously good.
It looks like it’s been taken from Smaug’s lair
“best snare drum under $8500.” (by 1¢) 😂😂😂
love these videos, keep ‘em coming!!
Right. Drums for the Danny Carey's of the world.
Honorable mention??? That copper snare is everything 😍😍😍
You guys really set-up a virtually different kit for every snare. Talk about dedication. 👍
My favourite is the BDC Raven, mostly because i have one and its lovely
Keplinger FTW! Mine hasn't left the kit since it showed up! And I have a LOT of great snare drums.
The cymbal used on the first snare sounds amazing too
The drum mixes are killer! I love your FAT bass drum sound. In the 90's I assisted a touring drummer as a tech, and he had the Sonor HLD 590. I don't think I have ever carried a heavier snare. It's made to be played after war. LoL!
Wow -- ok. For me,...oh man this is tough. My three favs are the Hammered Supraphonic, the Canopus Wenge/Birch and the Keplinger, with the Gretsch very close behind and the Joyful Noise close. I want them all -- lol.
My vote goes for that joyful noise but maybe because I own one too! lol love that snare
your videos always make my day a lot better. keep up the content! Awesome snares btw
`The HLD590 needed cranking up!
Great video! Loved the Mapex Maximus❤
Great video as always, number one for me is the Gretsch bronze, second , the Canopus wenge/birch.
Nice choices!
Yamaha sounds good. Liked the Canopus too....
LOL!!! I love the Honorable Mentions.... very creative. BTW, the Supra sounded GREAT!
All sounded great, but the BDC snare sounded best to me. Bravo, folks.
I just bought one about a month ago and I love that thing.
OH let’s go!! DCP NEVER disappoints!! Love that Sonor snare but I’m biased certainly! 😂 🥁
Nah that thing sounded good for sure!
Os vídeos da DCP são sempre excelentes ,informativos e alguns bem divertidos, mas sempre com respeito e profissionalismo. Parabéns pessoal !!!
That DW kick drum with the Canopus and Tama snares is Awesome sounding!
All sound fabulous. That Kepy's a BEAST. And love Ronn Dunnett's new Milestone. He's done a fabulous job with those. Cheers,
Regardless of the price, if any drummer walked into my recording studio with that Joyful Noise snare I'd be totally happy - over any of the other ones in this video!
🥁👌🏼
That, and of course that copper Sonor of the "honourable mention" practically leave not much for all the others, for my taste & ear.
Love the Canopus. Wenge adds so much focus to the tone. Also the Sonor Kompressor series is a big hit! The Cedar Snare from Tama is RICH. The Joyful Noise has a beautiful dry sound, real joyful.
Keplinger! wow man
Super vid. Thank u 🍻. T ring on t Milestone fibreglass is gorgeous. Didn't even know fibreglass was used for drums of any sort. T phosphor ring. Sonor sig ring. T supraphonic ring. Are DW t kings of gum?
That 40yr old 590 is still the ultimate for me in any tuning range.
Great review! My picks: Canopus, Tama, Keplinger
All amazing, tbf. I own a Solidus which also featured in your snares of 21 or 22, so great to see another Black Panther there this year.
Also great to see the Raven in there. Still don't know how they make it for that money. Where are they cutting corners??? And it sounded superb, but I do favour heavy muffling myself.
The Gretsch bronze sounded incredible.
But for me it's Ronn's Milestone. Sounds just perfect for my taste. And looks unbelievable. The reflections of it even look good.
And I loved the honourable mentions 😂😂👍
Milestones Founders Fiberglass (would buy one immediately if they would offer it in gloss or matte black), Ludwig Hammered Superphonic, and British Drum Company Raven. My #1 this year is the Ludwig 6.5" Raw Bronze Superphonic with Tube Lugs. One of the greatest snares I've heard. Great job by you folks, as always.
i voted with my wallet 13" phosphor bronz all the way. Best 13" money can buy. If I played 14's that sonor would be killer to go with my sq2 heavy birch.
Essentially, they all sounded great. I have a BDC Big Softy 14" x 6.5", and a Gretsch Bell Brass 14" x 6.5," in my snare arsenal, so I was drawn to those of a similar elk. The Joyful Noise was fantastic, both sonically, and visually... maybe one day I'll own one. Basically, you guys could make cardboard boxes sound great, your dynamics and musicality are spot on. Look forward to the next video! Cheers.
All snares sound very nice but I like the Mapex and Gretsch more. Great work guys, thanks!
Along with the way you played the drum, awesome by the way, I had to stop and comment that I haven't heard such a great snare drum as the British raven since my Brass on brass 6/12x14 Black beauty. WOW 😮
I generally don't like DW but that DW kick drum sounds OVER THE TOP, what?!? SO GOOD!!!
The snare in your theme music sounds pretty awesome.
As a photographer/videographer, I really like the intro. You guys made a good change by showing other parts of the drum center. It definitely shows how vast your inventory is. Great work, guys!
Glad you liked it and thank you!
Loved the Ian Paice tribute at Honorable Mention 2. 👍
Whoa 😳 all nice
I’ve got an 8 lug 14.”x6.5 Milestone on order!🤗
The Mapex and the Milestone get my nod, amazing!
Another year of great snare drums but I would love to see more Aussie hardwood drums and more Aussie drum companies featured. Sleishman drums are still being made and still sound amazing. Evetts Drums and Red Rock Drums are high end snare drums that need more air time as well as a new drum company PA Lovetone Drums making soild Aussie hardwood snare drums.
With online price of Brady drums though the roof, drummers need to know that drums similar to brady snares are still being made today.
Milestone sounds pretty darn good. I’ll say that!
The Milestone sounds amazing to my ears
Liked the Joyful Noise Knight Hawk so much that I bought one after speaking to Tony. But other great snares here are British Raven, Tama Solid Cedar, the Milestone and of course the Ludwig Hammered. I'd be happy to own any of them.
A man of fine taste you are, Dan 😉
Hopefully, I'll be receiving it soon. It's been a long wait!@@tinterlande
The Gretsch bronze and the Canopus birch were my favorite
That TAMA Solid Cedar actually sounded nice and crispy
As always, a great demo. You may have done this already, but a demo on snares? Their diferent sounds. Which give better sensitivity, what which ones may work better at low and higher volumes for different depth of snare drums and materials.
I noticed on my deeper snare drums the need to be hit harder to get the full vibration of of standard width snares.
What wood configuration is that bass drum from the very first demo? That DW kick sounds insane
❤❤❤❤
Never loved any DW product but this one is probably my fav 1 together with Mapex and Joyful Noise
Was the black DW Kit, the Purpleheart one? Sounds and looks delicious!!
Supraphonic FTW! Canopus a CLOSE second.
real hard to beat a supraphonic, but most keplingers are kinda on their own level.
Sonor HLD. For me, one of the best drums in history.
Was hoping the gretsch copper would sneak its way in. That thing looks a beast
What hats were you using on the #10 Canopus snare?
What ride is Barrett playing during the Hammered Supra section?
The Fiberglass interests me most. Will be researching Milestone.
Milestone was a surprise! Sounded great
What's the new snare mic setup? Looks like the Earthworks is straight down almost touching the hoop? Am I seeing that right? How does that sound?
Hey thanks guys trying to choose a great snare for a new upcoming sonor SQ1 kit probably won’t get the SQ1 snare and don’t want to pay the 1580 CA for Benny Greb which cost 1000 about ten years ago.
Does anybody know what snare was used on Danzig's Twist of Cain recording?
I strayed to the internet while I was listening and the moment that Mapex Black Panther came up I thought… Jeff Hamilton without even seeing it! That is my favorite. However, that BDC snare… that thing sounds great and for the price. It may end up in my Christmas list.
Yes, best snare drum under $8500.
That's what I love about DCP -- always thinking about us little guys on a budget.
The stage custom is 99 buck
@@adamfrost3722 Yamaha... making the best "affordable" instruments.
I realky thought that yamaha had a good sound but im all in for birch drums abd the price of stage custom is unbeatable. Thanks dcp.❤
my favorite part of the video-the dave mattacks walk on and the british accent voice over...classic drum center of portsmouth weisenheimer...
What has to do a Signature Bronze snare of the 80s/90s in a rewiew of 2023 snares?
10:36 Is this the Gretsch USA Phosphor Bronze Snare Drum 14x6.5, as the video states, or the Gretsch USA Bronze Snare Drum 14x6.5, which is linked in the description? There's a $1,180.00 difference and whichever is in the video sounds fantastic.
Some nice playing, but I could sure use way less rim shots and less cymbals. Good to hear the drums in back beat settings, but I’d sure like to hear more of the drums.
BTW great snare drum options in this.
For the price the 8x14 Sonor Kompressor is absolutely my choice. It has an incredible tuning range.
Me too. Deep tone, solid snare sound.
i literally laughed out loud on the sonor caption: best snare under $8500
keep it up
"Best snare drum under $8500" Awesome!
I liked the Gretsch the most. All great.
Very interesting guy's. If course all nice, if I had to pick a favorite, it would the Milestone. I didn't know they were back at it, it's a good thing. Still love Tony's drumming.
DW and Ludwig!
Is this the 12 lug version HLD 590? There's also a 10 lug version. I have read that they've made only 200 HLD 590 snaredrums. Wonder how many 10 versus 12.
Tama G Maple 5.5 "Remo Coated Kevlar" tightened.
What Sabian Ride did you use with snare #5 (Star Reserve solid Cedar)
Tempest 22”
They all sounded great but if I have to pick one that be the Keplinger!
If I didn't look and only listen, for the way they are tunned, hands down I would have picked the milestone as #1 and British drum company raven #2.man they sounded great!!
Which hi hat did you play at number 2?
😱👏👏
Don't sleep on the Mapex! Joyful noise and BDC hit.. yamaha stage are pure legends.. get one!
For me it’s all in the die cast hoops man
yeah, i like their resonance control
I felt the Sonor Cooper platted 8"Bronze SD had the most amazing sound. What is cost to purchase? I believe all of these states are excellent as well.
$8499
Yamaha "honorable mention" was the only one with a dry crack, and WITHOUT a ring. To me, that was the best one.
These are some great sounding and informative videos! I look forward to visiting #DrumCenterofPortsmouth
Joyful noise sounded best to me
All lovely sounding drums. However, I would bet 50 to 1 that in a blind listening situation no one would be able to tell which was which. Maybe you’d pick out the Sonor because of the shell depth or if one was metal or not but that’s about it. That doesn’t mean that higher end drums aren’t worth it to the discerning player though; they often feel much better to play, have better sensitivity and much smoother hardware.
Liked the British Drum Co snare, pronounced.
7,4 It sound good
I favor the Sonor Bronze Shell parallel action snare. I think it had the purest sound, best looks,etc....Thevither Sonor Compresser had a nice sound as well.
The other Sonor I mean. Typeo Thevither
I dont think its a fair game because of flange hoop and die cast hoop but love the vid and your fabulous drumshop🤟🏼🤟🏼🥁🇨🇦
what type of muffle device is on the Joyful Noise ?
Snareweight M1
...but where can I get that Happy Catsgiving shirt? Thx.
Not sure. It was a gift
Is the badge on #9 signed by Jazz Series himself?!?!
No Rogers Dynasonic..?
