  • @DualSMGsFTW

    I remember there was a lot of debate ("debate") and controversy (idle threats to certain people) surrounding Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. In an experiment someone opened up a local match and learned that the game had artificial lag. The player's character model would lag about 500 milliseconds behind their view model.
    What turned out to be the case was that this wasn't lag. The developers never admitted to it, but there was strong reasoning that this was done to encourage players on the offense. The minute a player turns a corner they had the advantage because they could shoot at their opponent, and the offender was less likely to die because their character model was still starting to round the corner.
    As a result rubber-banding was a very prominent issue in the game, and for several games in the series complaints constantly surfaced. Players would complain that they were being shot at, they would run behind cover behind an impenetrable surface, and that they would die from bullets regardless.
    It would be interesting to see a video on how CS:GO deals with connection in general since it ties with angles and perspective. However, there is a catch to this; the specifics behind a game's connection are often kept as a trade secret. The general public simply doesn't really know how the developers handle connection and hit detection or how their methods differ from one another. An unfortunate thing simply because it's not as productive as it could be, but understandable none-the-less.
    Great video by the way. Headglitching is often looked down upon in many FPSes since it gives a significant defender's advantage- but it seems that the issue is a matter of design more than anything. "Mind bullets" tend to be very frustrating things to deal with. We might see slight map changes across military-shooters in general. For instance boxes that you can barely stick your head over should be placed in more strategic areas. There have been to many cases where one of those can be used to lock down an entire lane from one side.

    I imagine all of these principles apply to Call of Duty and other shooters too.
    So it is a bad idea to stand close to a corner because an enemy with a long sight line can see you around that corner before you see him. Explains a lot of sudden deaths I've seen in videos of multiplayer shooters.

      Based on what evidence? CS:GO and the Call of Duty games use the same mechanic of firing out of the head of the character, and vision angles apply the same to both games.

    Haha, I was literally typing a comment about the ostrich sticking head in sand misconception when you called me out. Sorry!
    Great video, would be neat to have a section about how crouching affects your player model's height and width. I've heard that crouching around corners is a big no-no because your player model sticks out further, making you an easy target (besides just being slow).

    • @Eyeball198
      @Eyeball198 9 років тому

      I think the thing about not crouching around corners isn't that bad anymore in CS:GO, it was pretty extreme in CS:S.
      It's still really dumb to do just because of how slow it is and because it has no advantage.

There should be UA-cam tutorials and also /r/globaloffensive might have some tips. on increasing FPS.

      I was a 12 year old shiet when I started, so give him a chance. Maybe try to speak his language, convince him that you trust him and make him eager to kill the other team. Magic stuff can happen if you do this.

    Ughhh math... I don't wanna use math in a game.

    • @Norsketrutt
      @Norsketrutt 9 років тому +41

      If you are a programmer or an analyst such as Warowl math is a very important part of the game. The game has it´s own physics (which is created by math) so by understanding the math in the game, you understand the game.
      now read the last sentence above me with warowl´s voice :P

      Who uses math? It's just basic angles and distances, man!

    • @daizonfyre6463
      @daizonfyre6463 9 років тому +1

      U always think that ull never use math outside of school exept for basic shit so when i say warowl doing 16 by 4 or whatever. I was like god damn it! More math! Lol

      Assuming you know the math that was used for recoil you can theoretically predict each shot and where it goes.

    This is really good advice! The points you made about the length of the gun and the shadows of the player are why sometimes I wish you could play without the viewmodels and just have a camera parented to the player's head that is scripted to always point in the direction you are looking. It would be like using the 3rd person models in first person, and it could really help with every player's spatial awareness. However, it may be sickening to peek, because your head may bounce a lot when you change directions

    Glad you highlighted that point about barrel length to people. Given that the silencers impact on stealth is sound-range and the removal of bullet tracers, and given that it's an unofficial crime to remove your silencer, the M4A4 and P2000 really can be the more lethal stealth/ambush weapons.

    Nice video as always!
    Could you maybe do a video about how to force rotates, when to rotate (overcommiting as T and being too late as CT etc.) yourself (indicators) because me and my team find it quite difficult to read the enemy team sometimes. And in general, maybe a series about where and how to play specific spots with (maybe not so common and obvious) smoke/flash spots on different maps? I found the "how to play this spot properly" tips the most useful.
