A colt 1911 is like a corvette sometimes you can mess them up by adding bells and whistles/change the oil in both and your good

I just can’t imagine paying 2.5x the amount for the Korth vs the Colt. It won’t make me any more accurate and the quality of function is almost identical.

You are right. The quality is not for off of an old python

I agree 💯 % ...i couldnt tell you about the internals on a korth vs the python but the python looks better to me anyways.

Custom gun= whatever you want it to be; plus someone put their blood, sweat, and tears to make it perfect.
Production gun: nothing wrong except you don’t get the same as with a custom gun……. Unless of course you take that production gun and send it out to be customized

I have a plain jane 1911 government made say 20 years ago? 15? anyway I also have a Kimber that I have customized with a lot of wilson parts and was always a very accurate gun. I am good enough that in almost any case I will shoot the kimber a tad better than the Colt. On paper at the range the Colt will shoot a tad over 2" groups at 25 yards from sandbags while the Kimber will shoot cloverleaf groups of not much more than an inch. If I stand up and shoot at 25 yards the Kimber will shoot maybe 3.5 inch or a bit worse and the Colt will be more like just under 5" but for most? it is the way the gun fits in their hands and the trigger pull and the sights that matter the most. These are all things I tend to modify.

The kimber is probably put together alot tighter than you old colt

@@TerryBenton yes... this is true. My point is that both guns shoot very well but it seems that anyone who is good with a handgun ... and I define that as anyone who can hit a 2 liter soda at say 50 yards (all my friends can) all of them will do from slightly better to way better with the Kimber even tho the Colt shoots better than they can hold.

I really enjoy the way you think. but you might as well ask 'are women really worth it?' I tend to customize all of my handguns. I tend to customize my cars/trucks even my watches. I enjoy doing it first of all. I also enjoy talking about it with others. Ok... I am actually a pretty good shot with a handgun.. all around good shot. hip shoot/point shoot... long range. with some handguns and some loads (I handload) I can do sub 2" groups from a rest at 25 yards whatever. The more accurate the gun is the better I do. That does not mean I shoot as well as the gun is capable of.. those are different things. Anyone tho that is reasonably good with a handgun will shoot the more accurate gun better. Soooo... I tend to acquire accurate guns. I also find loads that work well with the guns I have. Actions... the difference between my 1969 Python or a Korth and my 69 model 19 target so far as smooth and weight is.... thousands of rounds. eventually... all handguns tune themselves.. Most never shoot enough to find this out. most don't dry fire much these days but that used to 'tune' guns.

@@TerryBenton LOL... I would feel guilty if I told you since it would mean you will end up spending a lot of money lol... One is my 1949 Omega 'jumbo' These are watches that were very very large for the time. at the time mens watches were like 25mm or so across... the 'jumbo is like 38 which means the dial is actually bigger than your dive watch.. This is a very cool watch with small seconds... I bought a NOS 1950 expanding band for it. still in the package in 10k white gold with (imitation?) black onyx inserts.. the old expanding bands were like scissors instead of straight expansion.. which goes back to your topic.. only a geek would know that but everyone says how cool the watch is. Like explaining how the ivory on your grips is 40,000 years old. I call the watch my 'Viva las Vegas' watch.. wish I could send pics to some of this crap I do to you. Mostly on watches I change bands but... I have been known to take the dial from on Accutron and put it on another Accutron or put the movement from one into the case of one I like better. if any of this makes sense. I have ole Wylers and Accutrons and Omegas. a cool one I have is a 'thinomatic' small rotor.
