It's staggering that I had never even heard of this until yesterday. It's still one of the most beautiful albums anywhere. The songs are well written, and exquisitely performed.
wonderful classic album.....part of my teenage years...mind blowing then..mind blowing now...still fresh sounding today....it can be found on amazon as a japan import CD....worth every penny
Yeah as great as this is - it's kind of a you had to be there moment- a lot of things came out afterwards that had many of the elements heard here but at the time - early 1972 - it stood alone - this music says that fusing together blues, jazz and latin could be melodic, improvisatory and hold a strong groove without announcing itself as 'wild" music. Now I was told by members of the group that Bitches Brew was the a big part of the blueprint for this group but there's a lot of stuff on BB that I find annoying and I hear nothing annoying on Full Moon. Not every song is brimming with originality but overall it's got to be the standout record of it's time.
Drums were still my principal instrument when this album came out, but I was gradually learning to be a competent guitarist. Playing Buzz Feiten's guitar solo in this tune was one of the goals I set for myself. At the time, my girlfriend had a smart-ass friend who was kind of a bitch. She told me I could never learn to play that solo. I don't like smart-asses, so I was doubly motivated. I learned to play the solo note for note...perfectly. It's an awesome solo anyway, but that's why it has special meaning for me. It was a milestone in my growth as a guitarist. And it had the added bonus of shutting up that bitch who said I couldn't do it. HAH! 😎
I still have the album (vinyl), but looks like I'll have to pony up big time for the CD import. God, Malibu is a great tune; hearing it on the radio in 1973 is what drove me to buy the album in the first place.
I was innocent when this song came out, and my Mom would make me drop the needle on the vinyl time and time again l.. NIce memories and groove that I appreciate more today....

Brings back so many memories when this came out. Still great music.
Favorite classic reflective of our genre/generation
Used as the theme music for "Saturday Night Jazz" on WWNO-FM 89.9 New Orleans. Pretty cool tune!
Still used as intro for Saturday Night Jazz in 2024!
First heard this song at my uncle's house on vinyl about 3 months ago, trying to get it on my ipod having a hard time not on iTunes. Great tune.
Classic LP still good in 2019. A friend was a friend of Philip Wilson, now passed. What a group with Buzz and Neil....
I used this as the lead-in to my radio show on KFMU in Oak Creek CO in 1976.
Fantastic tune, I used to hear it on KTCL Ft Collins in the late 70's - they were so good at that time...!
aka "Mad Dad" Writing this in 2019 and this album still
remains one of Mad Dad's favorites of all time. Neil Larsen
and Buzz Feiten at their finest.
This is an all-time favorite tune…very important to me. Thanks so much for posting, Bob.
you're welcome brett!

Thanks for the upload. I had this on the Douglass label upon release and haven't heard it in 30 + years. Thanks again.
