I was present at this session
Go Buzz- thousands of great guitarists since the 1970s...for me...and many, many others...there is only one with the taste sublime...it’s Buzz
Loved it in '72, when I was 18. Has lost nothing, if anything I love it more at 65 (I'm a musician)...
The times that produced this kind of quality and spirit....we could use that now...Feiten was always with great players.
I had this album back in '73. It was released in '72..................CLASSIC!
Great album. It has followed me since the 70’s.
No more like this so good
💣😍❗💥💥💥💥💥I ONLY CAN SAY..."HAY BROTHER WHERE IT'S COME FROM " ..JUST WHOAaaahhh🙏🏻THANKS 🙏🏻
One of many spectacular bands so much better than the star bands with 1 hit per album. 1st time you hear them, you are blown away. Every cut. Vocals, lead, rhythm, arrangements. Spotify finally picked them up. I should have tracked them down in the 70’s when I lived out east. Album was suggested to me by a friend who steered me to Boz S, Tim Davis, Family Stoneground Full Moon ended up as a cut out. That album should have made them rich.
Bought this Album when it came out. As, a result of what Buzz did w/ 'The Rascals' and 'Stevie'. Keep ,comin back to the early 70's, for it seems it was an extremely vibrant time for great Talented Music...
aka "Mad Dad" Yeah this classic album from 1972 remains one of
Mad Dad's favorite albums of all time.
Finally hearing the sound Chuck Leavell was hearing oh so many years ago. It's a great band sound.
One of the best albums ever
Midnight Pass … had this 50!years. Bought it in LA when 17 yr youth exhange boy from Finland. Like several other LP’s as well. Treasures👄
Talk about "Hidden Gems"!!!!!!
This LP is beautiful!
One more showcase of the talent and versatility of Phillip Wilson.
Great album! I listen to it from time to time.
Great band and album! I saw them open for Roy Buchanan at the Village East ( formerly the Fillmore East ) on New Year’s Eve, I believe in ‘72. Was a smokin’ night!
Desert Island recording along with the Rascals’ Island of Real.
The blueprint for musical bliss!
I recorded their live WPLJ concert off the air on a reel to rel - still have it - love WIlson & Dinwiddie
@@VBForbes Is your recording of Full Moon or ButterfieId? I would love to hear that Full Moon recording!
In a video of Bette Midler in Vegas
She says "now 30 seconds of Buzzy Feiten Bliss" and he tears into a nice solo
An unbelievably great group of players in any time! Of course the "tip of the spear" is Buzzy Feiten. Absolutely fabulous having seen them live many times.
I first heard Buzzy on the Butterfield "Keep on Movin'" lp when he was 18. Blew me away. I've been a huge fan to this day. There is some deep soul and jazz on this album. I still play "Malibu" with a band. I'm a guitarist.
buzz feiten its the man, one of the best blues guitarrists from the 60s; his playing is so fucking solid on this one! outstanding.
I believe these guys were playing around the Woodstock N.Y..music scene in the early 70's , all of them were alumni of the Paul Butterfield Blues band., except Neil Larson...
saw them live once in the early 70's in nyc..very cool
wonderful music. I picked up this album my first visit to Boston in 1973. I returned to play guitar and study at Berklee. Buzz has always been a great player. one of my first faves was Jungle Walk with the rascals. Pops Popwell on bass the album is called Isle of Re.al Neal Larson and Feiten albums are great too. I wish I could have heard Hiram B and Buzz together with D.Sanborn.RIP Hiram
Steve Burchfield...my old buddy !...i bought this album back then as well...hope all is good with you
very well.........................................................................................
Top 10 on my list since 1971
I can’t believe I just stumbled on this. This band changed my life and music career all-time favorite every song. I’m pretty sure I wore this album out
As a 13 year old in 1972 it changed my life too and opened up a whole new world of music to me
i love this album, i love the hybrid fusion of jazz rock r&b, definitely an underrated classic!!
this is just so AMAZING
Such a great album
I was given this album by my brother who heard me listening to Neil Larson's jazz music. When I heard Full Moon I was convinced. This album is a vital part of my collection.
My older brother bought this album home back in 72' (thank you big brotha') and it blew my ten-year-old mind then. It's still fresh sounding now as it was then. Timeless treasure - should be in the National Archives. Thank you for uploading the entire album.
I saw Buzzy play with Butterfield at “The Fillmore” in San fran 1968 (he had replaced Bloomfield),..and i daw this kid with a Tee-shirt on (with the “Tricks Rabbit” on it!!) -just hammer it how in a full sweat, man he had it!!
Thank you. I've looked for it while back, gave it up and forgot about it. Finally I am able to listen it.
still love it!!
awesome, thank you for this!
SAW THE FIETEN-LARSON BAND AT THE EXIT/IN IN NASHVILLE AND TALKED TO BUZZY HE HAD THE FIRST BRADSHAW RACK ON THAT SHOW LATER I GOT TO PLAY WITH POPS POPWELL AT HIS CHURCH IN LEBANNON,TN.
Buzzy Feiten played on the most beautiful guitar song ever recorded with Jeff Beck on Stevie Wonder’s ‘Looking For Another Pure Love’ from the all time masterpiece album ‘Talking Book’ 🎸 🎹 🥁 🎤
Don't forget his previous work with Stevie on Superwoman (Music Of My Mind).
@@richardthompson3104 Mary wants to be a superwoman is Mr Feiten's better solos
On record.
génial !!!exs pbbb !!j aime !!
Robert thank you so much for putting this up. I love these guys and I thought it was hopeless to find this ever again.
Your welcome...it is so very hard to find..but if you keep looking on ebay you will find an LP copy pop up every once in a while
This is so good thats its not even funny.
The quality of music made 50 years ago is unbelievable, especially when compared to today's. Anyone can recommend VERY similar music (especially the more fusion oriented tracks like Malibu)? Check also Larsen's more recent albums, very different, but equally excellent!
that track reminds me of the vibe that "aja" and donald fagen solo records gives me, but i bet u already know that stuff. check out pyramid first record, "song for bobby" its prob my favorite track. more synth-oriented tho
@@nicolas.m5 HUGE Steely Dan fan here! Thanks for the Pyramid tip though. Didn't know them and they sound extremely cool!
Excellent!!! Timeless!! Thanks Julie Houska!!
Say! This is mighty snappy!
Don't know how on earth I missed you guys. Wonderful sound it was
3 heavy hitters from Butterfield Blues Band: Phil Wilson is one of my all time favorite drummers. Brother Gene and of course Mr. Feiten. Heard these guys at a small club in NE CT called Shaboo. A beautiful original band. I listened to the 1st album a million times. Thanks for posting the album.
Ohh, the Shaboo in Willimantic! What a place. Shaboo and Toads Place (New Haven) were awesome CT places.
I love this album everybit as much as when I purchased it in the 70's. Thanx for putting it on youTube. I can finally let go of the beat up album and still be assured I can listen whenever I want (since I got rid of the turntable years ago)...
I first got a terribly beat up copy of this album in the early 80s. I really liked what I could decipher, put it away for awhile hoping to find a better copy. This album has always been kinda pricey regardless of condition. Still stands the test of time. 🎼
Oh yeah , Buzzy definitely a Favorite, This was a Big portion of Butterfield's tour band . Legit isn't that Philip Wilson Your talking about ???
✨🔥🎶❤
I've loved this band since I first heard them in 72.Buzz's solo on Midnight Pass is genius!
I actually heard “Midnight Pass” last Saturday out here in Los Angeles. On a radio station called KCSN 88.5. Originally a Cal State Northridge University, radio station. They are as close to free-form radio these days as you’re going to get. They are public funded. Anyway, I can recall this album in its day. WLIR 92.7 FM, broadcasting from Garden City, Long Island, NY, was a progressive radio station, that had a free-form college radio vibe. They tried to give all kinds of music a shot. LIR would play tracks from this album. Buzzy was a Long Island guy.
Robert Harmon Remember the Ultrasonic Recording Studio Concerts? I went to one. I want to say Full Moon did one of those, but I’m not sure. Anyway, WLIR would play tracks from this album. Later, WRVR 106.7 Jazz Radio NYC, would also play some of it. Especially when they got on their Fusion kick with Dj Les Davis.
I'd love to hear that ultrasonic studio recording...WRVR was a great Jazz station
Yes, WLIR in the early 70's really was something. Too bad they didn't have a better signal into NYC. I think Full Moon did do one of the Ultra-Sonic concerts. Bill Stahl was adamant he wanted it spelled as Ultra-Sonic
Neil Larsen
I wonder if Feiten realizes that his playing was likely a major influence on the Canterbury guitarist Phil Miller.
I wore mine out too. Had to buy a CD. Think of Steely Dan with much more soul. Amazing line up. 3 greats from Butterfield plus Neil Larson on keys and a great bass player Fred Beckmeier. Buzz was a young genius prodigy. Gene D is an under appreciated tenor, flute and vocalist. Phil Wilson one of my all time favorite drummers. Really give those drums a listen. This first album was young, enlightened and (still) fresh.
I like Mr. Wilson's groove, but he seemed to keep missing the snare drum on the first tune. I counted at least 10 times where he hit the rim instead of the drum. Was he doing that on purpose? Sounded really strange to me as a drummer myself. He's a good player though.
Buzz had mentioned that they were all heavily influence by Miles Davis' Bitches Brew album to do this.
@@michelgrimes5283 I know and I can kind of hear it but I much prefer this record.
It‘s Neil Larsen 😉
Funkadelicみたいだな
Maybe the best album from its era. Not a fill in song on either side. Unbelievably tight. Always hoped they would find a larger audience. Like the Family Stoneground, Tim Davis and so on. Far superior to hit bands
I can think of some common soft rock groups that sound every bit as good as this, although it may be a matter of taste...
Anything that Larson and Fieten play on automatically rises to the top of that particular category!
Hard to find for sure. Not on Apple. Thank you for this.
