    This album opened up the pandoras box of acid jazz and experimental music concepts for me.
    It's classic and as good today as it was when it was first released

    Memories!!! I was in the 10th grade when this came out, we were driving our band director crazy , this was our morning JAM before Mr. Boone would come into the band room, not that he didn’t love jazz, but looking back I think he got annoyed because we weren’t in TUNE,,LOLOLOLOLO, this was my introduction into Jazz, I hadn’t even heard of Bird, Trane, Miles , etc. at that time,.

    Man i was 9 or 10 yrs old when this dropped, mom and dad bought me and my brother these little portable tape players, i remember walking round listening to this very tune thinking how cool i was...LMAO!!!

      I played bass in a jazz trio back in the 90s and this was my favorite! So much fun, especially when you're locked in tight with the drummer, and that groove just begins to move people.🎉

    A free flowing masterpiece. I love the mixture of audio in this version. The live horns and instruments far out weighs the later synesthesia versions. Herbie the doctor is far ahead of his time playing professionally at a very young age.

    In 97 or 98 I had the joy of seeing the Headhunters on their reunion tour at Montreux....A couple of guys kept singing the little beer bottle melody between each song and when the band finally started blowing on the bottles those two guy roared with pleasure. Guest appearances by Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Santana were an unexpected bonus!

    Gorgeous composition and excellent players,. I played this in full jazz band brass and the rest accompaniment in High School. It's needing further development to include that and much more. Brilliant, just the best what they did!

      Evette Schafer, circa late 50', early 60's is my horn, they don't make them of this level and lost the formula upon long ago even in the $5k range or horns... That brass in the instrument, the mouthpiece being severely over the top. I am playing that horn to this day for sure my friend, and with soul!

    I used to get to hear stuff like this during the day onlow-power AM radio station WBEE from Harvey (Chicago) (they didn't broadcast at night). What a blessing to people with no tape decks or FM radios in our cars.

    I saw him,@ Syracuse, NY, @ Jazz fest this past week. Alongside with Gladys Knight, he is in his 90'$ ! Amazing social event. Closedown part of West Genesee street.
