Vlog 4 Deck build - Support poles installed

  • This video, we had to special order a support beam since the length is not stocked in retail stores. The support beam that will hold the roof up is a pressure treated 4" x 6" x 16'. Using a circular saw, I had to cut length wise the angle to meet up with the roofing joists. This way the bottom of the beam is level to the ground. The support poles are 4" x 4" x 8' but the length was cut down a few inches. All three posts are identical lengths since my double joists are level all across. The lag screws I used worked incrediblly well. Due to the cutting tip design and serrated screw edge, none of the wood split as the screws were driven into the wood for both the 6" lag or the 1/4" X 2.50" lag screws.
