Cannot manually tilt Mercury 20 OB, Tilt and Trim is locked in down position, what I found...
This is a old Mercury 20 Hp outboard that is mounted or hung off the back of a 17' fishing boat and hooked up to a binicle and steering wheel. There is no tiller arm on this model. The issue is, the motor is locked down which is the Tilt and Trim. It is not a hydraulic set up but a manual tilt and trim. By design, the binicle should be in forward gear which unlocks the tilt and trim locking device. The boat also has no gear, forward or reverse when the binicle is placed in fwd or reverse. I have never worked on a motor like this so I recorded what I have found and how I fixed it. It's a very simple part called a "socket". Part# is in the video.

How to replace/install new boat trailer wire harness with lights.

In this video, I show how to install/replace the wire harness in a boat trailer along with new LED lights. This advise can be used for all trailers where a wire harness needs to be installed. The impotant key here is to install this new harness and lights completely sealed/waterproof to stop any future corrosion caused by fresh water, salt water or even water mixed with salt brine from the road...
2001 MXZ 800 Chaincase replacement/ swapout

This video is pulling out/off the mechanical Reverase/Forward Transmission and re-installing an original forward only gear/chain case. I installed the mechanical transmission 7 or 10 years ago, but three years ago during a family sled vacation I heard a large bang and the sled stopped dead in its tracks (punn intended). I had no forward or reverse so I knew it was the transmission. So,... I am ...
LED Ribbon/Tape light install in enclosed snowmobile trailer

This video shows how to install LED Ribbon or Tape lights with in a enclosed trailer onto aluminum service in the cold. These LED lights have a adhesive backing but at 34 F, they will not stick to aluminum. I have found a way to get them to stick using a 3m double side tape that is made for adhesion at a minumum tempp of 32 F. These lights are MUCH brighter than expected, lets hope I get a few ...
Adding a Battery Tender extension/install on Ski doo snowmobile

In this video, I had a short pigtail for my battery tender on my snowmobile, but, I had to open the side panel to plug into the connection. Now that the sleds will be in an enclosed trailer that has 110V power connection inside, I needed to change/install a battery tender extension that will provide very easy access in order to connect the charger when the trailer is parked and the sleds are se...

Making a Rustic Ski Rack from old cedar trunk pieces.
Переглядів 795 місяців тому
I had this idea in my head so, as I am building it, I am making changes since some things did not go as smoothly as I would have liked it. I think this gives others an idea on builting a ski rack that holds the skis by the ski tips. It takes up a lot less space on a wall vs a slanted rack. There is plenty of room for a variety of bindings on any size skis and there is space to hang ski poles. N...

Honda GX 160 popping/coughing after warm up then shutting off repair

This is my Honda GX 160. I was having a issue with it popping/coughing after it got warmed up. At first, i would stick a small twig next to the choke lever so it would not get kicked back into the "choke" setting. But now it just pops and coughs so bad it was killing the engine. Take a look on something I should have know but the symptoms pointed to a dirty carburator. BTW, yes, thair cleaner w...
How to install a simple On-Off Battery switch on a small boat w/live bildge
Переглядів 1647 місяців тому
This is a install of a On/Off Battery switch with a boat that has a bildge pump. When installing a battery switch, the bildge pump always needs to be live especially if the boat is kept tied up at a marina or a personal dock. This install can work with a 2 wire bildge pump or a three wire bildge pump. A three wireset-up usually means one of the wires goes to a bildge pump switch on the dash whi...
22 Years open trailer, now in a finished enclosed trailer

This is very rewarding in so many ways loading my sleds for the first time in a enclosed trailer that I finished inside to fit my needs as a snowmobiler after towing on a open trailer for 22 years. This model, by ProLine, came in a 7.5 x 16 and 7 x 16. The 7.5 would have a bump out inside which would be part of the wheel well. I did not want that, but a straight flat wall and the ability to see...

what belts do you put in if needed to be replaced i also have one but cant find the belts i need the nummbers thanks.🎉😊
Where did you buy the weather stripping
Man I have a few questions about the mower I didn't figure it out it says it's gear-driven so does it what's that mean does it have a belt
There is a belt that drives the transmission. Its not what they call a "direct Drive" where there would be some kind of drive shaft straight to a transmission.
I'm on my way to buy one of these today.
Mine is still going strong after all these years.
If you spray WD 40 in the tube WHEN foam is wet. It will devolve the foam and clean it out
Thanks big guy great video
Those are not spring compressors those are widow makers!😂
Soo true.
Any idea what that outer soft tape is called that allows the rubber flex piece to slide freely on the harness?
It's a insulator tape. It comes wrapped up just like electrical tape but it much thicker. I cannot remember where I bought a roll, but I am guessing either in the electrical isle or a automotive store. Most likeley in the electrical isle in a hardware store. It is labeled as insulator tape and is a thick like rubber. It is hard to find.
You remove the front bumper if you don't know what you are doing. I've just change both headlights in my 2008 Subaru Tribeca and it was a breeze. No front bumper removal....
Not the same model as a Outback. Front end is different in it's construction.
Thank you so much. I’ll be doing my own after a plumber came in and replaced the tubing but didn’t check to see if he fixed the problem🙄. Subscribed!
Thanks for the video just finished the swap. Helped so much!
Great to hear!
I like this design, now you have encouraged me to make one for my Ghenoee. Especially the flagpole idea.
Great!
Thanks bro! I wish I could thumb up more than 1 time.
You're welcome!
Thanks Big Guy!
how do i download the sound track?
The sound tracks are free in the You Tube Music library.
@@bigguydiy2184 ok thanks
You're an excellent teacher. Thank you!
Wow, thank you!
Where’d you get the new switch?
Bought it directly from the Ford Dealer so I know I would have an exact fit. If there is no dealer near by, I would look in Amazon or EBay entering the part number in your search.
I was been waiting to comment until I had enough time on the mower to see if this fixed my issue. I have the LX277 with the 17 HP Kawasaki engine. I would randomly loss power, sometimes it would come right back, and sometimes to problem would take 15 mins or more to come back. Very hard to diagnose since it did not happen every time I used the tractor. I replaced the coils last summer and have never had the loss of power issue since. Thank you for the advise. This fixed my issue.
I am very glad this helped!! Electrical trouble shooting is a hit or miss. This was a hit!
A shop totally removed the crosspipe heatshield and now I feel vibration in the floorboard. There was only a rattle before but no feeling of a vibration. Any ideas what that could be?
No idea, you'll have to get under the truck and look while it's running to determine. I have not found any way to replace the sheild after it rusts off.
You know that lug nuts have a specific ft lb which is mandated by the manufacturer. It’s easy to look up and use a torque wrench.
Yes, I know. I have to replace the torque wrench I thru away. My pnuematic air gun has 2 torque settings so I have it set on the lower setting so a person can remove the lugs vs needing a pnuematic air gun. Soon, I'll get another, but in a digital reading vs the old analog twist for s setting one....
Mazda's equipped the E- Brake system the caliper plunger automatically retracts once you do the set up . This allows you to install the pads. Lots of bad information out there .
Thank you, I will keep that in mind since now I own the car. :-)
Great video.
Thanks!
Very helpful Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Hey! I'm facing a very similar issue, but I got afraid to take the machine off from his place - perhaps to break something... May I just pull it outside? (i mean the entire machine)
Your not going to loose a lot of water. The only water held in the dishwasher is in the tub. Otherwise very little water will spill out. No reason to bring it outside. Just be sure you turn off the water in-line feed before disconnecting.
@@bigguydiy2184 I got you! But I dont see any valve either below or beside sink. Just the machine is inserted to the furniture (believe the valves are behind it), thats the point Im kind of afraid to bring the machine outside - some pipe to break, you know what I mean? Thanks for the support mate!
I kinda think that plastif lining is not necessary? It must be to quite down interior road noise? What do you think about leaving it off?
It is actually a "vapor barrier" Anywater that leakes in from the window (in which there is a lot) is stopped by the liner from getting into the truck. So, yes, it is important to reinstall and secure it well.
@@bigguydiy2184 Thx! for the quick reply. I will put it back on as instructed...
How do you check the transmission fluid level on the 825 and what type of lubrication does it take?
Oil is SAE 30. Never checked the transmision oil. It always worked.
I don’t have trouble with mine either, but it’s starting to make noise like the gears in there are dry and there’s no lubricant I checked around and I can’t find anybody to tell me where to add it and how to check it
I think your videos are very informative and easy to understand. Keep up the good work.
Thanks much for the video. Had the same issue with broken wire hold downs for the bulbs. First repair was sloppy and a short eliminated my cruise control while on a road trip. Next repair was with solder and it's holding. I know now I won't be replacing the whole unit! I'll just keep on soldering.
With that hitch, you must keep your balls greased well... The tongue weight of "that Big Fat Thing" LOL is under 800 lbs.???
LOL, Well greased. I need to get a tongue weight done. I think I have a scale that can measure it.
My question is that white stuff on the connector, is that some kind of heat compound or thermal paste or something? All the new ones I see have clean connectors and I am wondering if I do this myself should I be putting something on the connector. I am just worried about damage to other components. Great video.
Usually it's Dielectric Grease. Its used to create a better connection (connectivity) and to prevent the connector from seizing together. The grease come in clear or white and is used a lot on trailer connectors. It can come in a tube or a spray and will dispurse water away from the connector so no corrosion takes place.
Nice product I have the flat steel one but I only tow up to 3000 pounds it is working for me. Another thing on your receiver into your hitch. I actually bolt that on with a grade 8 bolt with a nylon lock nut. And the trailer hitch ball. I actually weld the threads to the nut so it cannot come loose and they can’t take the ball off with the hitch and take the trailer. The lock pin is OK but they can break that off very easily. But like everything if they want it, they’ll take it but they are going to have to work at it to take trailer and draw bar.
I'm very fortunate to be in a area where we do not have a trailer theft problem. When I am up North, all trailers and vehicles are parked tightly together and there is literally no one around where my friends house is located. Very fortunate. Yes, I agree, if they really want it, the theives will find a way.
I have same tractor and same issues. Low power when engaged. New plugs, coils, New Carb with fuel pump and inline filter, checked all deck pulleys and compression checked (93 and 95psi) . I double checked the valves and one was loose by 13 thou but made no difference on running condition. After the new carb it seems worse. I am running out of ideas. Still a good video to help troubleshoot 👍
Electrical issues are soo hard to diagnois. In some bad situations, replacing everything electrical, and the problem still exist. I can only think, are any of the products (coils, carb, wires, etc) John Deere OEM products? The reason I am asking, I had a misfiring issue with my boat. It would run then stop after 30 minutes. Replaced everything with new "aftermarket" electrical stuff. I then had all the after market stuff removed and updated to all Mercruiser OEM products, it has been running fine ever since. But, it took me 6 years of frustration, ton of cursing and numerous tows by other boaters to bring me back to shore. Sometimes, I would sit in the water for 45 min to an hour before it would start and I could get back to my trailer.
THANK YOU HELP ME OUT SIR

Does anyone have the torque specs for the bolts for the caliper bracket and the slider pins ?

why? i downloaded it to play while im doing my brakes.
Absolutely love this. Will be using this as inspiration for my build.
Having a basement helps alot 😅
Oh soo true!
I like the concept, but a couple negatives in my view. #1: It’s made in China. So I’m sure the bolts are made of a lower grade steel. #2: The body is made of aluminum…not ideal. Hopefully an American company can improve on the concept and make it with more robust materials. I’m sure it’s adequate for your use. Thanks for the video.
I agree with #1, I try to stay with US made stuff, but it's either not availible or very hard to find. If this should fail, I will have a local metal fabricator make one for me. As for now, it has survived the winter salt showers with very little rust. Boating season will soon be on us and this will test it since the trailer and boat are around 6000 lbs +/- and my utility trailer with a load of logs usually exceed 7K lbs.
Yup. That's my problem. I finally found the right video.
Thank you for watching!!
Thank you for this video! I am heading outside to try and do this to my truck. Fingers crossed!
You can do it!

Huh?!?!
Just got a rattle noise that would go away after some time driving. I was going crazy looking for where the sound was coming from.. I Though it was my engine looked at the other heat shields they were all in good shape.. except the driver side, it was corroded and rattling, thank you sirr!!

Thanks for this video. Gotta do this soon.
Just had this nh oil done on a 2016 mazda cx5 that had lived outside in NY and underbody was pretty crusty from rust. David in manchester did a great job including creating some access to ensure inside door frames were treated. Dropped day one and picked up 24 hours later. Just 9ver $400 including tax. Confident itcwillarrest the rust tgat was gaining a foothold but hadnt created structural ir even obvious cosmetic damage yer.
I have zero rust. My son did his 2005 Tacoma which was pretty rusty underneath, but this will stop the rust from continueing to spread. He is very happy with it. Be sure to get the 2nd application a year later. Then after that I will be doing every other year.
