As someone with the exact same jeans issue as you, I can attest that Old Navy has figured out how to fix it. Their rockstar jeans (at least the high waisted ones) have elastic bands around the top, and might also be slightly tapered at the waist. I just got a pair two weeks ago, and I have been so happy with them.

KatEqlysm I second the rockstar old navy jeans!!! They are the ONLY ones I buy. Fit my pear shape perfectly, stretchy, good quality , and last forever. Such a life saver!!
Third-ing the rockstar Jeans, but also American Eagle’s high waisted pants in short length! I have 27” waist, 36” hips, and a 27” inseam so they’re the only style that fits off the rack.

So cute!! I just bought a pair of distressed jeans a bit ago and I was afraid I would be way out of my comfort zone wearing them, but ended up loving them and feeling super confident in them. I am definitely going to have to try to make some myself, I think it will be cool to have control over where the placement of the "rips" are. Loved the way yours turned out!

OMG I feel you so much on the fitting issue, I have big hips and small waist so feeling confident in jeans was hard even as a teenager. Belts helped for a while and I had my small collection, but I was truly at peace when I switched to different kind of bottoms.
I still keep a pair of light boyfriend jeans and a pair of dark grey ones (used to be black, I'm thinking or dying it or do some kind of degrading bleach work but that sounds too advanced lol) never had the guts to play with them but your video inspired me!

I love a good pair of jeans. I usually go with button-fly 501's (and I used to get the H&M low-rise boot-cuts). There's an old pair of jeans that I've been saving for a DIY denim coating for a cell phone case.

If you are ever having trouble with the fit of jeans... you can take them to a tailor to have them fit to your body! I am a professional tailor and do this for people all the time. One customer in particular has a narrow waist and wide hips/bum. She has to buy all of her pants to fit her hips/bum but then the waist is like 3 to 4 inches too big! For $20 (though it varies shop to shop and where you live) I can reduce the waist and add darts to the top of the seat area so the waist is smaller, but the seat stays the same size!

This is perfect timing! I got a new pair of jeans recently that I have the same problem with -- I'm trans and buy guy's jeans, but always have to size way up because of my hips...which means the legs are too long because I'm a shorty lol. I'm definitely going to keep this in mind for a rainy day project.

Hey Ang, I work for Urban Outfitters and when I tried on our jeans for the first time I finally found jeans that fit me! Anyways, if you don’t want to spend the money on them I understand but I do want to suggest some styles of ours that you might like. The Mom jeans are my favorite! They’re high waisted, and loose through the thigh and leg. They are SUPER flattering for anyone who has wider hips and a narrow waist. I think they’d look great on you. I also love the girlfriend jean, also high waisted, but a little more flattering through the thigh, and loose on the calf. These look good on almost everyone in my opinion. Check out those styles, I really think you’d like them ☺️

I don't like jeans either! I let the pressure to dress down go and I don't miss them. That said keep an eye out for wide legged pants coming into style! Great for those of us who enjoy the free flowing comfort of a skirt or dress.
