- Rhena tested on a Tempered Ruiner Nergigante how good the new Blast Bow really is. On something like Tempered Ruiner Nerg it does really good damage since its elemental hitzones are quite low. That bow is quite good there but also dangerous to play with Safi's set bonus.

The safi bow builds video is quite unoptimized, even with the constraints of con3/hb3.
Now do a Frostcraft/Slinger Ammo secret Thousand Dragon build with it.

@@imshar1311 nergigante was trying to save himself the trouble and die faster because any fight against TDS is a lost fight for the monsters.
I also do less damage despite having the same build or having something that honestly close enough.
What I learned from this vid: When Nerg uses the roar, jump, slam, shoot spike combo, the direction it shoots spike is the same as the higher front leg it raises when roar.

Probably because the animation is flipped from the roar to the spike launching.
Also when his hp get low (80 percent i bellive) he roar violently to prepare for his annihilation dive and the silver spikes grows on his head and then his hands

@@BlueDragon1504 I mean, the safi set still gives you evade+3, and bow evasion is a bit easier to time, but still solid work, I'm more impressed by the positioning just out of nergis range
You seem easily impressed. Though watching closely you see very very few flashy moves. The majority of the time nergi is downed. You could easily count the amount of attacks even attempted by the monster. About the nicest move was the hotkey crafting mid fight. And even that is hardly complex piloting.

vienn_a_tek element won’t work. It’s a status weapon. But blast is not really helpful. So I recommend just doing pure attack.
I'm just glad I collected all the weapons and waited for videos for builds.
I think I'm okay at this game, then I see something like this and realize I suck haha.
Another guy being really good doesn't decrease the value of good playing, it simply mildly raises what the average of skill means whilst he could be counted as a data source for skill averaging.

@@jadibrahim8262 True, but also remember that they develop their skills in new ways to accomplish a speedrun. A seasoned hunter can slay a monster, a speedrunner can not only learn to kill it faster, but learn how to overall handle monsters. The only part of speedrunning that doesn't aid with regular monster hunting against new monsters is damage calculations of part breakage and trip damage for any individual monster.
@@jackschwitzer3006 to be honest any hunter that has played the monster hunter games for a while can handle any monster without it lasting long, I mean speed run is only optimizing runs of course it involves skills but believe me there are a lot of hunters with more than enough skills to do speed run it's nothing special, just training and doing many runs until all the necessary conditions are met to do an excellent time.
What I try to say is that speed runner is less "elite" than one could think, sure they're good but there are a lot of (non UA-camrs) that match them easily

Bow is consistently faster by a minute to the best melee weapons. It trades best times with HBG, though often bow is the winner. Yes, bow builds, in general, are the best MHW:IB has to offer, the evidence is in the consistent world records.

It's pretty funny actually, I've been using blast bow already and I knew it was OP but people said it was a meme and trash so I should do something else. It's pretty funny and sad how NOW people are using because the UA-camrs said it's OP to use.
You're watching the wrong channels, the top bow speedrunners have been using it for weeks.
Blast Bow is a good bow against things that have poor elemental hit zones, of which Ruiner is one. It's been common knowledge since the first week Safi dropped.
Is it really op? Anyone who has as much skill with bow as the guy in the video would seem op with damn near any bow, or any weapon for that matter. I think opness should be based on how easy it is for the average player.
They could just make this type of video with any weapon, to be fair

@@mrnukes797 spread 3 with familiar thunder or Safi HBG is still op as hell :) since freedom 2 Capcom never knew how to balance ranged weapons. Even back then, the bow was amazing and a bit broken
@@theblackbaron4119 I don't really agree with that view as with melee weapon vs range particularly the bow. As there is so much work and prep that's needed just to have the correct built(rng) and even when u do have all the decos it's not just pressing 3 times(gs) it's dodging through roars and atk's, positioning, restocking ammo at correct intervals, stamina management and my favourite aiming at a moving target while staying within the critical distance.
@@theblackbaron4119 basically the skill gap is usually based on if player can multitask really well while aiming at monsters sure u can stun lock which limits monster movement just like a speed runner but that's only 1% of the players of the community. I main hammer and use LS, IS DB SNS, GS, HBG, LBG and they are way easier to use than a bow. 1900hrs I love this game

Have you guys dabbled with latent power on safi’s set yet? I’ve seen some good builds with it.
It seems ideal for bow and dual blades but both of those get higher damage from silver rath so you have a hard time fitting all the decos, potentially if you cut WEX but you're still trading 3 decos for 5 decos unless your a blessed boi and have multiple latent power 4s

@@kaz7886 Velkhana was a bitch for me too. The best tips I got that really helped me out were to watch out for and avoid the mist clouds at all times and use his blindspot which is at his side between his front and back legs. I recommend using the vitality mantle and the health booster that you can place on the ground. Stack on as much ice resistance armor as possible, having +20 Ice resistance will make you immune to ice blight. Eat a meal beforehand for defense and bring defense potions and pills so you can tank more damage. Good luck :)
When I unlocked the mr 100 quest with ruiner nergi I went solo against him, beat him in about 15 mind without carting. I used hammer and play on pc, probably had no problems cuz I already have 1000 hours in the game
@@StugLife-ro3ytmore defense is a meme. Never eat for it. Get 5 ice resist then eat for elemental up L to hit 20. Hell, even consumables and stuff for def have very minimal effect in MR

@2:04, What's the purple icon at the end of the buff/debuff icon list mean? I've never seen that one b4.
It's the icon for the Safi'Jiiva set Bonus, Dragonvein Awakening. It gives 20/40% affinity and 80/150-120 element-status to your weapon when it's drawn. However each time you attack you lose health but after a certain amount it regenerates.

I've been using pretty much exclusively Blast Bow recently, just cause it's good in literally every situation.
And it means I don't need to grind out 5 more full bows xd
@@zilchnebula5367 blast bow are bad very very bad only time it can out- damage elemental is when you fighting with monsters that really weak to blast (nerg,radoban and it so minimal) it base mh i tried using best blast bow that capcom gave us as free OP weapon that have like 280 raw and 240 blast and it never ever out- damage ele bow with only 180 raw and 400 I even handicapped by not even using ele deco I even tried full raw build and it still deal far less damage than base ele crit from rath set without deco(like 38 from raw and 48 from ele if full ele build it up to 62) any true bow player know blast are weak af coz I have and tried every bow in the game and ele win every time(by large margin) but if you are too lazy to make bow set then sure it is the most demanding weapons in the game after all since you need to have every element bow to kill anything faster than full raw CB.
Blast is IMO the best status effect because it’s just a straight up damage boost. The good thing about blast/raw is also that it works on literally all monsters. Elemental is definitely better in most situations (Nergigante’s mechanics just make blast really good against him) but raw has the advantage of being usable on any monster and never being weak
@@RockyLXXXVIII I not saying blast is bad it the best elemental this meta because safi weapon having identical base raw stats which completely negates blast weakness in having low raw damage but for bows it very very bad because bows have multiple hit(like 20+ hit in one combo)and elemental damage away deal same damage no matter what so having 600 raw and 240 blast on katana is God send but having 400 raw and 240 blast on bow is really bad.
tldr. Blast bows = bad
every other weapon = God send
Lay Yard eh some weapons still excel with elements rather than blast. Nergigante is the only monster I know for sure that blast simply works better on than elements due to his mechanics. But with the new Safi weapon meta if your weapon doesn’t do good with elemental, or if you just don’t want to deal with matching 3 star weaknesses, blast is the way to go

Why does nerg not target you during jump? Doesn't it usually land on you and then shoot spikes? It seems that every time, it landed on your pet instead

can someone explain why they're losing hp after every attack
pretty sure its either part of the safi weapons or armor you lose health as you attack but you gain it back after so many hits depending on the weapon
Part of the Safi'Jiiva set bonus. You gain boosted elemental and status attack, but it drains your health every time you attack. Getting a certain number of hits to actually land will restore your health.
Safi's armor gives a bunch of affinity and damage for a bit of HP for every attack, that regen after 45% of drained HP
Is a new armor set that gives you a bunch of bonuses in echange for losing hp every attack buy recovering more than you lose after the Xth hit in a shortly succession (depending on weapon)
Basically Safi jives set bonus, called (true) dragonvein awakening give an increase your affinity by 20-40%, your element/status by 80-150. But you'll take damage when ever you attack, to heal that lost health you need to hit the monster a certain number of times (each weapon is different though). Of you sheath at all you'll reset the number of attack needed and you'll have to start all over again.
It's really damn fun and for elemental weapons comes super close to the Silver sol armour set but with actual slots

Could you guys do a video where you compare a Bow Built on pure attack and a Bow built on pure elemental attack, and see them vs a monster Weak with the element of the bow
Bows are elemental weapons by their very nature and how elemental crit works in this game, raw bows historically are trash and this bow is only good for specific monsters, nerg being one of them

1 This is a Niche bow
2 Good all around bow
3 Choice for weak to blast monsters
4 Alternative for low elemental weak monsters coff zinogre coff
5 Does it work without Safi armor? I mean, elemental bows are almost equal in dmg using silver los vs safi armor but this would work with for example crit status using 2 artians cause golden rathian armor sucks ?

Sadly it doesn’t matter how good the bow is or how great you can set up the gear. If you don’t have the level of skill that they do, no matter what you make it will not perform the way you see it on UA-cam. However you can spend some time playing with that set and don’t get upset if you die then skills do get better. I know a certain rage who doesn’t like the long sword but loves the great sword yet long sword is really good.

When you use the dash don't touch the right stick, if you don't it will shoot at the last target, this ain't explained in game

Why is it the only ailment bow we get is blast? Where is my innate poison bow with poison vial on top?
All Safi parts, seems easy enough.
Provided I can get into a session for it, which takes longer than it does to kill the thing more often than not.
But there are always sessions on. There has not been not even a single day where I could not find a dedicated safi session with over 12 people in one or two tries.
@@ACSMEX That's not what I meant. The hardest part of doing Safi'jiiva for me, is not actually fighting Safi'jiiva. It's getting past the wall of errors whenever I try to join a session. Most days it takes upwards of 20-30 minutes to get into ONE Safi'jiiva session, that may or may not actually be doing Safi'jiiva.
@@TheGreyParse Do you refresh the lobbies after each failed attempt?
Try to check those with between 12 and 14 players, to avoid competing over those 15/16 lobbies.
@@ACSMEX I've tried everything. I've refreshed the lobby, tried joining with any number of players (that are still enough to kill it, usually 5+) restart the game application, even reboot the PS4 & router. Nothing works.
@@TheGreyParse Can you directly invite other people into your games and be invited into other players´ sessions?
You are kinda describing what I went though before learning to fix mi NAT issues.
If the answer to any of the two questions I made was NO you need to check if you have a restricted or private NAT.
If you are on xbox, try disabling the fast startup, since it messes for some reason with your NAT.
So you have to make sure your xbox fully powers down after you turn it off (you will notice since it will take more than one minute to turn on again).

If you aren’t using resentment with this armor your using it wrong (unless it’s a DB or Bow element based )
