Destinal is MVP! Without his work I would not be able to advance in my print farm with the new CR-10 SE that also uses the nebula pad, and good on you for calling out Creality directly on their lack of efforts to open source recently even though marketing it like its a priority.

Subscribed! I’ve got the Sonic Pad on a base Ender 3 that I’ve modded, I have Klipper running on a Quadra running a Kingroon KP3S, so I know the basics. I say that to say this, or ask at least, this pad has Klipper on it but you can’t use it unless you, what I’m guessing, is jail breaking it? And then you can use it to run Klipper on my V3 SE? So Klipper is on it but you can’t use it until you do that?
And before I get yelled at, I know the Sonic Pad can control 4 printers but where I’m putting my V3 SE isn’t even on the same floor of my house.

funny that they say it won't be able to be rooted just like on their kl series since the firmware is more or less the same, only the config files have changed. The other thing that happened is that I asked this question on their yt intro on the product a month ago and the answer was that it would be possible, but now I can also see that my return answer is no longer to be found on my youtube and my question has become removed in their comment field on the video from creality. ?????

My only issue is as Creality rolls out Creality print 5.0 they are updating the firmware to add new features beyond what the rooted version has to offer. @TheRealSamPrentice if you have any pull at Creality for them to allow root access by default it would really make the Nebula pad a stellar upgrade.

Which .bin file did you install onto the printer mainboard when you swapped to the Nebula pad? The .bin, from my understanding, is the .bin that’s included on the thumb drive that comes with the Nebula pad won’t work on the V3 SE. There is one that is bundled with the Nebula pad firmware from Creality’s site under “Ecosystem” and then there is one found under just the V3 SE section that is a bundle with updates for original screen and the printer itself. I can’t find which one to put onto the main board of the printer if you’re swapping to the Nebula pad. I’d rather just not mess with the factory screen and just put the Nebula on and go from there.

Honestly. The SonicPad is still a Superior option to the Nebula pad why?? Well simple, The SonicPad enables a huge amount of added Klipper based features than even fluid or Mainsail can not have or do on the touch screen not everyone wants to sit at a desk and send prints because still have to check the bed adhesion apply bed glue get rid of string filament before prints start. SonicPad has a larger screen interface with a larger bed level view point, more camera tuning & calibration options at the touch of a button and far easy to add to any slicer than manually added printers themselves. Also the Nebula pads screen touch response and scrolling is horrendous it's liked trying to scroll on a touch screen from a Gen 1 Apple phone knock off from the 90s does recognized touches incorrectly picks seipes as presses as the screen is not great to say the least. For the price you pay an $90 and you have a full tablet interface with way more touch advanced features without requiring a PC or laptop and unlike Root Access Klipper based nebula pads the SonicPad features and camera are still fully recognized & accessable by Creality cloud on a rooted nebula pad the camera is not accessible via cloud app only ip fluid or Mainsail & try talking that interface via a phone remotely it's like microscopic. Opinions are like arsewholes everyone's got one but unlike arsewholes user experience is what it's all about and the SonicPad can run more features than a nebula pad by x5. We all seem to flog mainsail fluid. Moonraker octo print but nebula pad isn't that and has 20% of the options and abilities a SonicPad has. Have all of these printers With a fan upgrade and a firmware flash I can get the SE to Run faster & produce better prints than a KE all day long. I'll be a video on this exact point in 1-2 weeks time with testing as point of reference. Not a dig at the content but merely at what everyone is clearly not realizing

Great video, Sam! Not sure why UA-cam deleted my original comment, maybe due to me mentioning my u destinal username on reddit. It's probably worth noting that when you install the prerooted firmware it will have a fake version number starting with a 5 but the actual version it installs doesn't start with a 5. It's designed that way so it can install on top of any version, even the same one. It's important to remove the flash drive when the printer reboots and not keep updating over and over. It probably should be made clearer somehow.
