Hi my friend why if you change the original car recorder with a screen all the sound alarms go like a safety belt and alarm sound if one of the doors is open
Me and my 2006 GMC Sierra could use some pro tips. You make that look so easy and talk about nice and neat. I just spent the last 4 hours trying to get a Digital radio to even turn on but that CRUX might be a blessing thanks for the free tips man. You got a number I might need you tomorrow 🤣🤣🤣
Very good video, right to the point. I do have a question though. Would I be able to get all the tool at Walmart? 😂 or do I have to wait for stuff in the mail?
I tried hooking up an aftermarket touch screen Android radio with a regular harness and it didn't work. I think that's what I have to do is get the interface harness like you did. Thanks for the video.
Great video the red wire did get me though , had to install a toggle switch to it as well as the ground have to flip it off and back on which allows DVD 📀 play as you drive
Is it possible to install an aftermarket radio and retain steering wheel controls by just getting a harness adapter without the interface? I have a 2005 Z71 Chevy Avalanche and I don’t care about on star but would love to retain my steering controls. I’ve never had a stereo install and lose my key fob abilities but something about the Bose system just seems odd to me.
The interface box glitched my EMC twice. 1st cost me $200 plus tow and second time i figured it out. Remove interface box, wired off/on straight to radio!
Hey - thanks for this video, super helpful. I was just about to pull the trigger on all these parts for my 2004 Yukon XL, but I’m concerned that I would lose XM radio. Do you know if I used the same radio that you used, would I be able to keep XM? I can’t tell if that depends on the radio head unit or the wiring harness, or something else?
Hey there, yes, this requires you to have a radio that is XM radio ready, and you will also have to purchase the XM module to retain your service with the new radio. amzn.to/2WM1ULH. The radio we used isn't XM ready, but higher end Pioneers, or this Sony is compatible: amzn.to/3ALE9EH. Feel free to send me a message on our facebook page with any other questions!
Nice! Thank you! I kind of figured out after poking around, both in terms of what “XM” ready means and the fact that you have to buy the tuner (and also how to wire it to the existing antenna). Do the higher-end stereos that are XM ready basically go in the same way, and would they use the same Crux wiring harness?
I wired my 04 Silverado exactly like this video using a Boss stereo.the stereo works fine but after a few minutes the back of the stereo gets so hot you can barely touch it what would cause this
Yes, you need a smart harness as 03 and up GM have converted over to a canbus data system. There are versions that are bare basic like this unit: amzn.to/3Yz79IM
I love the video! I picked up all of the parts. I went to start the install on my 03 Sierra. My factory radio has two connectors, 12 pin and 24 pin. Do I need a different Crux adapter?
You only use the big 24 pin connector. Tuck the little 12 adaptor in the back of the dash and forget about it. the radio woks fine. I had to hook up my blue amp wire to the red positive to get sound. I used a Boss Stereo with the Crux.
My 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has two harnesses, one like the one in yours, and a smaller black one beside of it. Where can i find an aftermarket adapter. The truck does not have on star, steering wheel controls, or the Bose sound system. Any help would be appreciated.
One is running through your stock amplifier bose system. The other will bypass amp system and you will lose the sub. Which you may want to use if the amp is bad or goes bad
Hello, I coneccted everything, but the second smaller plug from the vehicle, were it connects? I have no audio! Help please. Radio turns on, volume control works, no audio
A bit old, but what about the flashing red light on the original radio? Does it only effects the radio security or it affects the cars ability to crank on?
Ok the hook up seems easy. But I noticed u didn't have to program your Bluetooth deck. I also have a Chevy Tahoe but I have a wire harness similar to the one u put in. Mines I bought the guy told me I hav to program the Bluetooth deck n I have a black box the has a light on it that's supposed to turn green when everything is hooked up probably.
I followed the wire diagram on my boss radio had all the same setup except bose stereo, steering wheel controls or onstar. After install everything works except my key fob to lock and unlock the truck. No blinking light on the dash either now. Any help would be appreciated!
Did this truck have the bose system from the factory? Ive heard that there are extra steps dealing with a factory preamp and that it isnt plug and play. And experience with that?
Yeah I was wondering the same thing but it looks like it will most likely you're just going to have a few extra connections to go into the AV jacks into the back of the stereo at least I hope I'm going to give it a shot I think
I was able to get all connected. It powered up when I turned on the ignition, but it no longer has power. I replaced the fuse in back of the radio, but it still doesn't turn on anymore. What's my next diangosis?
In the description I believe you mentioned that the reverse trigger wire was not the same color. Does this configuration support a back up camera? Thanks much...
What do you do with the remote wire on the pioneer side and the remote wire on the vehicle side? Can you use one or the other or do you have to splice them and leave a tail?
Hey man I’ve watched so many videos trying to figure this out I have the crux harness and everything but my girlfriend bought me a head unit from Amazon it is a dual car play head unit everything seems to wire up right but when I got everything connected and went to put the radio in there was a smaller gray connection going into the back of my stock radio and I am not sure where this is supposed to go on the new head unit or harness I cannot figure it out
Thanks! I just bought a Sony XAV-AX1000 to put in my 05 1500 work truck. Any idea if I even need an interface box..? I don't have Bose, steering cntrl. or any of that. I'm also joking up a Fosgate 1200w amp w/2 Kicker CVR 10'S. I think I'm going to build a console box for them, we'll see! Love the idea for mounting the USB, that's cool! Thanks!
THANK YOU!!!! Already ordering the parts you have here. Question for you: My radio turns on, but I got no sound. Speakers make kind of low frequency heart beat noise in perpetuity. How do I test to see whether my speakers or my amplifier went out? I don't wanna pay diagnostic fee.
Is the dash mount kit universal for different radios? I have a kenwood excelon double din that I want to install in my 2005 GMC Sierra but am not sure what dash kit to get?
So if you have a Bose system do you need this harness? Bought a harness from Walmart and it plugged into mine but when I got it all wired up the radio would not turn on Also I need to go buy the antenna extension as mine did not come with, would that prevent the stereo from turning on? Anything helps
Thank you so much for this video it is very informative and helpful. I recently purchased this Crux interface because of this video and installed an aftermarket radio (Atoto S7 XE) in my 03 GMC Sierra Denali with the Bose stereo everything went fine and functioned as it should. There is one issue that i cannot figure out the sound goes out if I'm doing things like switching functions and will not return unless I cycle the ignition key basically power cycling the unit. Do you have any advice or suggestions that I can try? All my wires are matched, soldered, and insulated with heat shrink.
I'm trying to install a radio in a 2000 express 3500 LS and I don't seem to have the wires for the speakers at the radio connector for the factor radio.
So the vss wire and parking brake wire. If i get the pac rp5-gm11, rp4-gm11, or rp3-gm11 so i connect noth parking brake wires and vss wires to each other? So basically do i connect the parking brake wire on the head unit to the parking brake wire on the rp3, rp4, rp5 and same with the vss wire?
Hey so my 03 Sierra with a bose system has a second harness clip with an orange/black wire and a pink/black wire. Do you know what they do? I believe they turn the factory amp on. I tried the factory radio with it out and had no sound.
I wish you had gone through wire 4-wire what you already have matched up in the video so that people that have never done this can see exactly what you're doing if it's color for color . and I bought a double DIN Joy radio with front and rear camera which came with the which also had its own mounting kit and antenna adapter.
USB port goes to the USB port on the radio. The AUX port went to the AUX port on the radio. If your radio doesn't have an AUX port on the back, then purchase a flush mount adapter with only a USB.
So my Delco one that's in my 03 Silverado is XM ready and the antenna is on top of the cab I was going through the comments and I saw that you need an extra tuner for the XM? Is that only for non XM aftermarket radios?
If your new radio is "XM Ready", really that means the radio is XM capable, but doesn't mean it's equipped with everything you need. If your radio is XM ready, you will also need the XM tuner for the radio (as the radio doesn't have that hardware in it). You can retain factory XM antennas with the right adapters, but the tuner must be purchased separately: amzn.to/2WM1ULH
Great Video. One question, my 2004 silverado has a microphone installed as part of the on star. is this not activated through the harness? will a new mic be required etc?
Hope you get to read my comment, turns out that I am installing a stereo on a 2005 Hummer h2, I was looking at the diagram and saw this car came with an amplifier from factory, it has the Bose system, y was wondering if I have to run new cables to the speakers so I bypass the amp, or if I can just connect the speaker signal just on the harness behind the stereo? Thanks a million for your answer
I just removed that same factory radio from my 2006 Silverado and forgot to remove some CDs first. Can you tell me which pins I need to connect to on the back to power it up on the bench and get my CDs?
Found your videos and channel while browsing. Some confusion. I have a 2002 Yukon XL with steering wheel controls. Happy to use your Amazon links for everything, including Metra adapter from single to double din. Crux only shows 2003 for the adapter, and you don’t show the Bluetooth microphone part. Will any microphone work with that stereo? Will the adapter still work for the 2002 Yukon XL Denali with the Bose factory system? Appreciate a reply before I use your links👍
Hello i have problem with my Avalanche 2003 with steering whell control .. install New stéréo bleutooth.. but when i finish my door chime is higth level ........ its anoying.. can i have solution? Thank's
2004 Denali, factory Bose system. Installed Kenwood DMX970S. Crux kit extension works just fine. But the stock antenna cable has enough length on its own. Bose stereo has 2 connectors on the back, crux kit only hooked up to the larger of the two connectors. Stereo works fine, but no steering wheels controls. Will update once I figure that out.
I have a 2005 Sierra got the same parts that you used in the video. I'm a first timer when I look at the video and you match wire per wire you connect just about all the wires. I ended up with lots of extra wires please explain.
All depends on the radio you are installing, some aftermarket radios will not use all wires provided by the wiring kit, some will. Just depends on your install.
You will need the Pac version (RP5-GM31) of the harness to retain the audio output from the OEM dvd player in the rear. You will also need a new radio that has an AUX or AV input to play that audio from the rear screens.
Parts used linked in the description!
How do you bypass a bose factory amp on a 2004 chevy silverado
@@CarlosGonzalez_753 amzn.to/2UnEwTy may fit
Did it work out for you? About to try
Have you done a video on how to do the bypass? Seems to be a prevalent issue in regards to your video.
Hi my friend why if you change the original car recorder with a screen all the sound alarms go like a safety belt and alarm sound if one of the doors is open
Wow clean work man. So satisfying watching someone install a radio so clean. Drives me nuts when an install is done half assed
You would not be pleased by my install 😂
Just ordered all of this for my new to me 2004 Tahoe. Thanks for the great how-to!
Thank you! My friend and I do full audio installs. We have spent the last day searching for the correct wiring harness. This helped a lot!
Great video, some would recommend disconnecting the battery. But you swam through cutting off the power like a champ. Thanks for sharing.

Very good tutorial. Thanks for not rambling on about nonsense. :)
That chime sounds a lot like the 1999-'02 chime. That's the chime I like the best.
One would never guess how easy it is. Thanks much!
I was ready to buy a new unit thanks so much for saving me money and keeping me warm now
Wow u made that look super easy....and I think I forgot to buy a couple things..lol great video
Awesome video! Simple, and stright to the point!
Man u are a pro, and your video makes it look easy. You can see everything yo did
Thanks bro just ordered the whole kit for mine from the links you provided
Very good video, right to the point. I do have a question though. Would I be able to get all the tool at Walmart? 😂 or do I have to wait for stuff in the mail?
i used stuff from walmart on my 03 but it’s personal preference
Can you connect the new stereo directly to the stock wiring harness? Or do you need to buy the adapter kit?
I tried hooking up an aftermarket touch screen Android radio with a regular harness and it didn't work. I think that's what I have to do is get the interface harness like you did. Thanks for the video.

Does it support a backup camera? I didn’t hear you said there was a wire for that or was it supposed to be tapped into one of the wires you soldered?
By steering controls, is that just referring to the controls for the radio or all the controls on the steering wheel

Where did you plug in the RC jack into your radio from the usb port you installed on your dash?
USB port goes to the USB port on the radio. The AUX port went to the AUX port on the radio. If your radio doesn't have an AUX port on the back, then purchase a flush mount adapter with only a USB.
So my Delco one that's in my 03 Silverado is XM ready and the antenna is on top of the cab I was going through the comments and I saw that you need an extra tuner for the XM? Is that only for non XM aftermarket radios?
