- Tutorial for Minecraft. In this episode, I show you how to create and harvest Obsidian and use it to make a Portal to the Nether world! Oh, and I also craft a Fishing Pole and catch a few fish (and a chicken...and a pig...) and then cook em up.

@JamspongeVideo Tested & verified! The sounds I referred to as "ambient" are indeed from the Ghasts.
@zacaz5900 For some tutorials I use Invedit for resources and items that I don't have time to gather/harvest/search for. Just makes my life easier and I get tutorials out faster for you guys. No harm, no foul. :)

@dwagothegod Actually, any pick (Diamond, Stone, etc) will mine the "bloodstone" block in a single hit but hands and shovels take many more swings. So, sure, you can use a shovel or your hands but....why?

@SinnedGod The deeper caverns will have lava, usually. You can do some digging or use TNT to blast but personally, I just roam until I find it in the walls. :)
Thanks for making these vids, they've really helped me going! It's amazing how you manage to make the very simple game of Minecraft as exciting as you do, and how you manage to stay calm during all that stuff you are doing is beyond me, I literally had to back away from the screen a little bit at the end here. Good job!

@PurBakVideo2 That was fixed with the latest update, version 1.2.0_2 but it seems that some people are having trouble getting the patch.

I think you should make your videos more often because their really entertaining and I also think you should make them longer because like this video right here just stopped outta nowhere and I really wanted to see what happened next and I wanted to see the hot tub too so I hope you consider this because your minecraft tutorials are the best!!!

Awesome work with the tutorials. Don't really need a tutorial for the game since it's fairly easy to figure everything out by yourself but you DO keep the videos interesting and I find myself unable to stop watching. :)
4 things, One: Awesome video as always. Two: The pig zombies are friendly unless u hit them. If you hit them they eat you and you instantly die. Three: That noise in the nether was CREEPY! Four: 6:06 Dare I say "That's what she said"?
@Swe436 You will get monsters on Easy. They just don't do as much damage when they bite/kick/smack you on the lower settings. Switch to Peaceful to remove monsters from the game.
@Didongoes411 It's 1:16 spaces and they are currently "bugged" or at least very wonky.

Great videos, after watching it, i decided to purchase the game, even though its old school looking, it just seems really fun. It just proves graphics aren't everything, so my gtx 470 can have a nice rest :)

the first few minutes of this video reminded me about what happened to me while i was mining in a cave beside my house, i was mining and i found a HUGE vein of iron and i found an old abandoned mining shaft about 20 miles underground and it dropped to about 5 more miles down, i found a few gold ores and a ton of coal

A good way to make the portal without needing diamond: make a mold out of sand/dirt or whatever, put lava in the mold and put a spring of water over it so that it makes obsidian. This lets you make a portal without the need for finding diamond

it's like you don't even have to work yo butt of to find it....a new ingredient, water plus lava A DREAM COME TRUE!!!
I usually find creating obsidian goes a lot easier if you pour water on the stone right next to the lava spring, letting the water sort of flow over the lava, instead of trying to find the just-right angle.
I have been watching your videos since the first one and check daily to see if you have any new updated videos. Just curious: What line of work are you in? One time you typed that you do them during lunch and I've just been super curious as to what you are taking lunch from lol. My bet is on IT or programming.

@PaperInfect The great thing about Minecraft is that everybody has fun in different ways.
I have two worlds, one in which I cheat and just build enormous things, and one in which I play "legitimately" and survive. Both are perfectly valid and a lot of fun.

@MachinemaRocks yes if water flows onto lava source blocks (one bucket trip per block) they become obsidian. also you do not need to make the corners but you will need to work one layer at a time.

Wow, this really helps a lot, my spawning point is right next to a lava pool.
@saroe13 diamond most commonly appears on layers 10-16 (assuming layer 0 is the bedrock/adminium layers) so to find it your best bet is to dig down untill you hit unbreakable stone (black looking) and then go back up about 14 layers and just dig along that layer

a note, originally notch changed the spawn rate, the lower the lighter it had to be. If i'm not mistaken he has changed this after the halloween update, along with a few other tweaks.

At the end I was so excited. I was hearing the pigman and was gushing with anticipation and..zap...it's over. /sad
If you destroy your chest w/ everything in it, will it destroy all the items inside or will they remain in that chest so when you place the chest down, all your items are still in there?

@Danielshark10 admin layer is the bottom layer of the world that can not be dug through. level 65 is sea level ... 0 (going down from 65 to 0) is the bottom of the world. i strip mine in 20 block rows shifting to the left or right every 4th block, three high so there will be three untouched blocks between each row. logic says if a material spawns in the middle untouched block it will also appear in the adjacent block as well, making it visible in your 4th row, the one you have dub through.

up to you if you wanna respond to it or up it, but to mass-produce Obsidian, dump the water onto a stone tile. it'll flow out and turn all the nearby (within 7 or so blocks) lava into obsidian, then you can pick up your water, rinse and repeat. of course you gotta be careful cause if theres more under it, it'll drop into the lava if you're not careful.
@S0m3ThlnG yes you can use old save files, no need to create a new world, though if you want to get the full biome experience you will have to travel further than your currently explored area because it will only generate new land with different biomes not replace seen land

i wonder can you use the fishing pole as a grapple hook and climb up or down a cliff-side or even swing between or under something?
@Miny000000 it can occur in the map rendering as well, with the water and lava generating in a way that the water can hit the lava springs
