      @@simulation8083 I have no complaints with the sound, it’s punchy, full of bass and the spatial sound is good if you like that sort of thing. You can get soundbars that are ultra slim but regular ones won’t fit. There’s only about an inch between the screen and the bottom of the stand.

    Great comparison video!!! Upgrading from my Sony 2015 50" W800C and Pre Ordered my 65" Sony A80J in Australia yesterday. I was tossing up between these two models for so long. Watching reviews non stop over the last few weeks. Went with the A80J as its mainly being used for movies and I've already spent $2000 on a Bose sound bar system and with the adjustable legs on the A80J to accommodate the sound bar should fit perfectly under. Cant wait to get it now especially after watching this review just made me feel so much more confident with my decision.

      Thanks for the reviews guys. Good choice, noooice. I'm in the same boat in Aus and having watched numerous reviews, read forums i will also be grabbing the A80J "65 but will likely wait to around Black Friday. Was hoping to get the 77" but at 10k 😳 and double the 65" the pricing is a bit of a joke.Edit- Ordered the 77" this week as got it for under 6k. Really looking forward to my first OLED.

    Awesome review. You should check out the new firmware update on the A80J.
    I just went through this decision and now Sony has released the VRR firmware upgrade for the A80J and a90j models. I'm so glad I got the A80J. It is incredible for gaming and allows digital passthrough which the LG does not.

      Yes, Sony started working on OLEDs before LG. However, Sony gave up mid-way. LG succeeded in commercializing OLED panels, and now Sony, along with almost every other TV maker, buys from them. However, I hear Samsung's Quantum Dot OLED is the new king in town.

    When comparing two TV models, could it be possible to add a few seconds of real HDR movie clip or Game play? So that all the technical specifications makes sense. For example in this video, Sony doesn't support VRR and LG does, adding a comparison video to show how they matter would be really great in your video.

    • @miguelp619
      @miguelp619 3 роки тому +9

      That's because vrr doesn't make a noticeable difference. That's why it isn't that big of a deal right now. The SONYs play the games very smoothly and you will not notice any difference from playing on the lg. I've gamed on both and both felt the same. While the sonys had a lil more detail and better contrast

    • @miguelp619
      @miguelp619 3 роки тому +9

      @Radical Thunder come on now. That's one thing the lg's lack when compared to these sony tvs man

    • @miguelp619
      @miguelp619 3 роки тому +16

      @Radical Thunder may I see that depth review? Because before I purchased my Sony a9g I got the cx and compared the cx to the A9g side by side for days. The A9g was wayy better in many ways . ESPECIALLY contrast and depth. The SONYs give you a 3d effect that's hard to explain but you have to see in person. I'm not speaking out of my ass like some people. I actually did my research and actually did a comparison in person. And not only that I watch Evey single video on the c1 and A80j and every single video agreed that the Sony had more depth , better contrast, more detail , better upscaling, better sound. Literally the ONLY people that think the LGs are better are the people who made the mistake of getting an Lg OLED over the Sony OLED. And they really want to convince themselves they have the better tv. When In fact there's plenty of proof that shows that the SONYs are definitely better .

    • @miguelp619
      @miguelp619 3 роки тому +11

      @Radical Thunder dude I just said I saw countless of videos of these tvs and no one says what you're saying. But everyone says the c1 is only slightly better than the cx. And the A9g was way better than the cx. And the A80j is slightly better than the A9g. So makes sense when you put my testing with the testing of everyone else on UA-cam that the SONYs have the better picture. I'm not just speaking just to speak. I actually know . Unlike someone who is literally just trying to defend his tv like if he made it himself lol . I'm talking from facts here not from emotions like you

    Hey guys, just wanted to point out a couple of differences for the 77" versions. I have tested both and the color temp in those sizes is warmer than the smaller sizes (around 6800K instead of around 7000K) and also the 77s all appear to have the newer 3S4C panel instead of being mixed with the older 3S3C panel in the smaller sizes.

    Why are the scores in “Video Games” so close if the Sony lacks multiple important features and you describe it as “passable”?

    • @RTINGSdotcom
      @RTINGSdotcom  3 роки тому +9

      That's a great question!
      Right now, the discrepancy comes from the implementation of HDMI 2.1 and how we weigh those features to get the scores you see in the review. If you hover over the ? Next to the scores in the review, you can see all of the factors that contribute to each score. www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/sony-a80j-oled-vs-lg-c1-oled/21563/21421?usage=10&threshold=0.01
      We are considering changes to these weights for the next methodology update, so if you have any suggestions for us, please let us know!
      Basically though, there are differences here that go beyond our scores, so we wanted to make sure to mention them! And rest assured, we're aware of this issue as well and we're working to improve it!

    I actually bought the 77 Sony… 2.5weeks later it stopped working and would only flash a red LED 4x below the screen. We called their tech support and they told us that it was toast, and needed to be exchanged for a new unit! The process was supposed to be that we’d get a call from a Sony Concierge within 48 hrs to schedule the replacement delivery. However, 48 hrs later we still had received no call, so we called Sony again. We were told we just needed to be patient and wait for the call!!! I asked how long the replacement process would take after the Concierge contacted us…? We were told it would add on another 10-14 days at least. With that response, we packed up the Sony and returned it to the store and replaced it with the 77in OLED LG!!! With a huge crowd coming to our house for a Thanksgiving, there was no way we were going to be able to wait for Sony to get back to us. Good thing we chose not to wait… Sony NEVER called us back!!!

    Nitpicking the screen and color palette aren't a great compactor considering the screens are both made by LG Displays. Personally, the biggest difference between the two is how the speakers are done. Sony uses speakers that shoot through the screen, while LG uses traditional back speakers that need to be close to a wall to sound good. In surround sound, the screen speakers in the A80J can count as a "center" speaker for the setup, while the C1 speakers can't.

      No. As I have a good sound system I don't mind about integrated speakers, and I really hate light reflections, LG is also more open on software, an easy to use remote control where for gamers a VRR is quite important. For me LG wins.

      A ton?! 2 you mean. Only 2. VRR and the limited ALLM and 1 of these will be availlable by update. The rest, like free sync falls under the VRR tree. Free sync allows the variable refresh rate happening on screen and is AMD's version. G-sync is Nvidia's version. And all those other tons of features all say VRR-whatever and are the VRR's specs. Not different features.
      Also, ALLM is debatable great feature. Not everybody is a fan of this and both VRR and ALLM are good to have as a gamer, but absolutly not necessarily. Not having this, doesn't mean the tv is bad for gaming. Most casual gamer won't notice it much and if they are also fan of movies with good sound, they likely preffer the Sony with DTS-passthrough and lacking ALLM and (currently) VRR, over the LG with those feautures, but without DTS support.

    The question I have since gaming is important to me aswell, but don’t want a Tv with bad color accuracy. Can you get the color accuracy to be as correct or nearly as correct as the sony’s or is it just doomed?

    • @morphi10

      Both are perfectly fine. You would only be able to spot a difference with both screens next to eatch other. Pick a color temperature you like. Many settings change the color temperature like eye protection mode, color temp, picture mode etc.

      @@BeatelementhePiH Maybe. But the C1 is the obvious choice for people on the new consoles. Sony has been stringing people along for over a year with VRR and still has not even given a date window, let alone a date. Once you factor in the input lag and fewer HDMI 2.1 ports (not to mention the higher price), the Sony isn't even a option for people that want to use the new consoles with as many features as possible.

    In terms of audio, Sony is the clear winner. People really underestimate Sony's trademark Acoustic Surface ... Just go to a store and check it out for yourselves. Plus, if you plan on wallmounting the TVs, LG's CX/C1 stand was made so the sound would reflect from the subwoofers to the front, taking it off really decreases sound quality ...

      One of the reason why I’m choosing the A80j Over the c1 because I’m not getting a sound bar, a sound bar would be overkill in my bedroom, I’m mad that they downgrade the sound from the A90j to the A80j= has half the performance 30W compare to 60w on the A90j.

      had to justify the pricetag for the A90J somehow, not gonna lie, setting it as your Center speaker a la A90J is such a sweet Upgrade. Still they can't charge 8 grands for the Big One. Here's hoping for 2022 and see if the Flagship makes a Nose dive (due to poor sales) forcing them to significantly lower, will wrap it up once its down to 5 grands.

    After having had the choice of both i went with the 77a80j. (I bought both to compare and took back the lg within the return window) . The a80j just looked better, with more depth, texture, highlights came off the screen, better color shading and oh man that “living backdrop” just looks so awesome.
    I don’t use the built in sound but my wife does and she loves it for watching regular reality tv shows, she also said that it looks sharper in upscaling.
    I have to say you have to go look in person if you are on the fence. These are more different in real life than they are on video.
    Also when i checked out the g1 it barely made a difference in real life. I’d suggest *only* if you want the proprietary wall mount to buy the g1. Otherwise go for the a80j
