But if I have an electrical storm in my area and it hits my tv while it's plugged up. Then my tv will be gone. I can't afford a another LG c1 oled. Love the tv. So I've been unplugging it when I go to bed. I haven't been putting it in stand by mode. But I do get notifications when it's time to have a pixel refresh. So I let that happen and then the tv is refreshed and ready to go.
Of note, if you have Bias Lighting installed and it is plugged into the TV's USB port, this lighting will stay on when you turn your TV off and the automatic pixel refresh is active. Once it has finished the TV will completely power down and the Bias light will go off, so this is a great visual indicator for when it is doing this cycle. It would then be safe to unplug if you so desire.
That's good to know! 👍 I just wish they would use the standby light as an indicator, like it would turn green while the refresher was running, and turn back to red, when we could unplug the TV.
I would love to have my bias lighting come on and off with my LG C1 but USB port doesn't seem to be strong enough, i.e. lights don't come on when plugged into USB port with TV powered on. I found I have to use a USB power brick from an old android tablet plugged into the wall and use a USB extender to attach the bias light to power the lights........
Had my C1 for 2 months or so and I always turn the plugs off before bed. Thankfully I’ve just watched this video and won’t be switching it off from now on.
The only time i unplug it is if there is a big storm happening as I get worried i might get a lightening strike or something that could surge through the TV.
It's smart to unplug everything when a storm is near. A long time ago lightening went through a telephone jack which was connected to my computers dialup modem. The modem no longer worked and the jack even had a black scorch mark. The GPU video card was effected with messed up colors as well. The CPU seemed to survive though. 😁
@@TheTechGiantUA-cam Hello, ty for video, very informative! Since my english is not native, have I understood right that standby means always plugged TV (even if it is turned off, just plugged into a power socket?)
One tip for you gamers out there. When pausing a game. When I had LCD I used to leave the tv on the pause menu for 10 min, 20 min, maybe an hour... but now with OLED, make sure u put the tv in standby while the game is paused. A Habit I changed.
Leaving TV or anything else stand by waste energy ( electricity) does not sit with our targets reduce wastage. So Oled TV makers should put an option to run these manually or reminders when TV turns on. Also I keep the TV stand by and then turn the wall switch off (similar to unplugging) before I go to sleep ( but this is done by a smart switch if I am not watching TV after 11.30pm it turns off and back on at 7am even if I am not watching brining the TV to stand by mode )
Sorry for the re upload, but there was an issue with the original. If you could give the video a thumbs up again it would really help get back up to where it was.
As I am sure plenty of people will still want to unplug it to protect it from lightning strikes, power surges and pointless energy use. It's good to get a reminder that it is there though. But I will just add that it will go through a more elaborate process after 2000 more hours of operation and you can also just tell it to do it yourself. So some might like to do it manually themselves then turn the TV off when it's done. Obviously anyone with any sense is going to unplug their Television if they go on holiday for 2 weeks too. But I guess you can always put your TV on standby wait 15 minutes and then unplug it and have the same effect.
@@90lancaster I never ever unplug my TV. I could go away for 3 months, and I'd leave it plugged in. Never once had an issue. What do you think leaving a new OLED plugged in on costs a month?.... $1? $2?.... Not worth even thinking about plugging and unplugging it. Especially considering it disables the pixel refresh which is the most likely thing of all to damage your expensive OLED TV.
@@BuckMcAntlerson It refreshes ONCE and then sits there doing nothing much other that keep a little light on. As for standby power - yeah it's higher that I expected it to be which is why I was suggesting unplugging it if you leave home for an extended period. It's not going to chemically degrade if it's not plugged in for 2 weeks. I dread to think what your energy bills are like if you don't ever unplug anything.
This is good to know, but I always disconnect the power to the tv if there is thunder and lightning, I wonder what they think you should do then, i don't want my tv to break due to lightning.
We used to have to do something similar with the old Plasma Screen TV's from decades ago. It was a manual operation, to turn on the screen refresh, and the screen just looked like static snow. If you looked at the pixels up close, you could indeed see a programmed pattern. It was especially problematic in the AV business, where a screen would display a time stamp, or a logo for extended periods of time. Very hard to erase the after-image.
Good advice but a Pro like Me - actually can hear when it will do it's work 😁 As in No Click = refresh. With a click and you can happily unplug the Tv 👍🏻 One more tip: You can also hear when its refreshing - a buzzing electric sound on back of the telly. This is Pro Tips 💪🏽
This happened to me last year, it was unplugged during a standby pixel refresh. After plugging it back in and switching it on, the screen had noticeable thin horizontal black lines on some parts of the display. After several days of use and a few standby pixel refreshes later, they had completely vanished.
Got same issue. The lines just appear sometimes, and sometimes not. Hope it fixes by itself, so I will know that I should not unplug this tv when turned off immediately.

I unplug mine during thunder storms and during power goes on and off"like do to high winds, this can go for hours, then I plug the tv back in" .Sorry I payed big money for my 65inc CX. Thanks Paul letting us know about this, and I will keep this info in mind in the future.
I have been unplugging mine at night but I’ll leave it about 10 mins after turning off the Telly to do that now so the refresh can take place. Thanks for the tip off.
Great advice and the main reason to NEVER BUY a cheaper ex-display OLED TV from any shop. The reason? They have all their TV's plugged into a mains supply where they can all be switched off using 1 switch at the mains. So on a night time they just switch them all off so will never run this feature. So the cheaper ex-display OLED will be wrecked and not worth even the cheaper price
One question, which is more advisable to leave the TV on Quick Start + or turn it off? I understand that every 4 hours of use a brief cleaning is done but I do not know if this affects this process.
Doesn't matter if you ask for screen saving concerns. It only really affect how quick you get into the apps and such, and maybe if the TV updates them and the OS in the background. Quick start increases standby power consumption of course.
Interesting advice. My new TV developed frequent pixellation which I put down to the build-up of Static Electricity. I never used to disconnect the TV but started to do so because of this problem and it went away immediately. Surely if we watch TV for 4 hours and 7 minutes most days, the pixel cleaning feature will still operate?
Unfortunetly, the more you run pixel refresher, the more brightness you can lose over time. Yes, pixel refresher will help overall, but those nits you paid for will become less over time faster than standard operation without using the feature.
The basic cycle that's run in standby doesn't deteriorate pixels so it shouldn't be a problem. And it's a good thing to have the maximum brightness down a bit to increase the lifespan of those dear pixels.
@@camj3557 I believe Sony recommends a full on pixel scrub once a year. This is different than the small automatic cleaning the video is talking about after 4 hours.
@@llordell7585 I was out of town when a thunderstorm hit Dallas. I was wondering why my television wouldn't turn on, even though the power light was on. I looked down at the power strip and it was slightly melted. The television worked for another 3 months, before the voltage regulator died.
Thank you for this video. I have a reasonable amount of knowledge in this area, but I am not an engineer. My LG 65E7P is now 4 years old and as of lately it produced a permanent damage on the screen, which can be visible on both magenta and red uniformity tests. Unfortunately the LG authorized service asked me 30 000 Brazilian Reais to replace the screen, i.e. approximately 7 224 US dollars, whereas a new one, namely the 65 C1 model, costs around 10 000 reais, that is 3 times less. In addition, the LG support said to me that the new C1 has more protection against this type of damage, and I suppose I will have to bet on it when I finally replace my TV. OLED screens will normally suffer from picture retention, which is not exactly a burn in damage. However, whenever one turns the TV off the problem will disappear. I believe that in my TV there was a permanent pixel failure, but no tests were done to prove it. Finally, when the damage is permanent, not even the Pixel Refresher feature will sort it out. By the way, my TV was always in the standby mode whenever turned off. This should be a standard procedure for all appliances, since it keeps the power supply pre-charged for future use, and avoid components faults. Merry Christmas and all the best for the new year. Please keep safe!
@@TheTechGiantUA-cam I do hope so, and thanks for the reassurance. The LG support also said to me that the new G1 model is even more protected, but for various reasons, not only price alone mind you, I will stick to the C1 instead. At any rate, I cannot complain about my E7P. After my retirement I spent a considerable amount of time watching my movie discs and streaming, high quality broadcasting, and my E7 never let me down. Of course, 4 years is not such a long time for permanent damage, but the TV info reports more 13 thousand of power on time. I did not realize I have used this TV so much until recently!
I still power down the unit entirely and remove it from a power source after use (i.e. I turn the power bar it’s plugged into off) because of electricity bills, usage, etc. Hope it doesn’t come back to bite me.
@@TheTechGiantUA-cam I just got LG C1 6LA 48 inch I believe it says 2021 model. Does this mean I possibly have better protection again this Oled burn in on this model? Oh actually, didn’t this tv release in 2021? So your talking c1 2022 model ? I’m new to all this and to be honest my last Samsung Q7OT 55 for £1000 had nasty problems couldn’t display black or dark low lit scenes properly. I don’t know what it’s called and I’m not talking about blacks being dull or not deep black. I’m talking it should be a pitch black night sky. My screen is a mix of mainly blue purple some black and it’s like all messy moving ink like and of course the whole night sky on my 55inch is a messy distorted mess and on os5 games it was even worse. Res evil biohazard. Most of the game is pitch black or bear pitch black and should simply be black. I wouldn’t even mind if it was straight up grey but oh no now the screen is same mess of blue, purple, distorted like when a pitch light get turned on a say a baseball pitch and as camera focus on the bright light, surrounded by pitch black, it that nasty mess and like a circular rainbow distorted effect covering the whole screen. I don’t know if it’s a bad quality, a fault, maybe my tv was dropped. All I know is it was hideous. I’m so worried my c1 will be the same and to be honest, all I want from this bloody C1 after my Samsung nightmare, is for c1 to simply work. Just display, colours properly in daytime, night low light etc I really couldn’t give a crap about 4K hdr or peak brightness. I’ll just be over the moon if it just works. I know if it don’t, I’d rather send it back and watch a 13inch black and white tv before I go through this crap again. I genuinely don’t know if many of these TVs are faulty, flaw that manufactures don’t care about or simply, these TVs are fragile, they can travel half way round the world , be stored for years e en before you get it and after all that, it’s only expectable for many to fall over, get dropped, fall over in transit etc and then become faulty due to force of impact. Rant over 😖😭
thanks for the tip, but question though: So let's i stopped watching the tv around 11pm **daily**, it remains plugged in standby mode, and then decide to unplug at 6am.. do you think it's still a good habit? Or should I keep it plugged forever?
I thought if you activate the pixel refresh will reduce the life of your oled tv or performance only used it if really need it like image retention or burn in, so how often do you need to run that pixel refresher? what is your settings is in automatic or off or manually?
Never the TV would do what it needs to do by itself you don’t have to do anything but turn it on watch it enjoy it turn it off the next day turn it on watch it enjoy it turn it off this is not an issue
Good to know. I’ve never before heard of this feature and my wife is rather ICD about any wall switches being turned off when not running a device so this is absolutely something I would have fallen victim to.
video is partly bs and clickbait. when the tv accumulated 4h and finished its pixel refresh (~7 mins), which you hear by a click noise, you can obviously unplug it.
Does it apply to all OLEDs? I've got Sony A80J OLED and wonder if it also does that... I thought about scheduling power off since I connected it with power meter and discovered, that on standby it consumes total 200kWh per year!
This video was recommended. Pure luck it was. Excellent info. I never knew, I am going to be buying an LG OLED for my new house. I would turn it off at the mains to stop idle power draw, as I do with nearly everything. You have a new sub.
Glad to learn this useful advice for my b8 series oled. Another reason why I have the mains hidden is to prevent the kids who couldn't care less about properly turning off the TV and simply shutting the switch. Now the kids have been reinforced with the idea to not leave the TV unattended without the red standby indicator or a parental lock would be imposed for the next viewing session. It works and certainly glad the TV does what it need to refresh the pixels.
Tyvm, I always leave mine plugged in unless I'm doing some sort of re-wiring. However, I'm wondering if after you put your TV into stand by can you just wait past 4 hours and then disconnect the power? I could see some ppl using one of those powered timers to get around the 4 hour refresh.
I think you may have got a bit confused about the 4 hour thing. It's not that you have to wait for 4 hours after it has been put into standby, the automatic pixel refresher will activate once put into stanby after 4 hours of accumulated screen on time. Hope this makes sense. But in theory, after it has done it refresh,so around 7 minutes or so,you could switch it off at the mains. But from what people have been telling me,many were just turning it immediately off at the mains and going to bed etc.
@@alambe7275 No offence but I doubt you know better than LG. If you do then I'd suggest you give them a call and tell them what they say on there own site is incorrect.
William where are you at test are performed to make sure things are running properly after that you don’t have to keep talking about it and fantasizing about it and making videos about it every week every day every year
The automatic pixel refresher that LG Oled TVs do after being in standby usually takes no more than 10 minutes and during that time the TV consumes about 50W/H. After that, my LG 65BX is permanently consuming around 36W/H. That's why I disconnect it from the mains after at least 15 minutes in stand by.
LG could easily cater for those who prefer to turn off the power by issuing a change to their software. eg As soon as the power is turned on have a message on the screen. I'm one of those who prefer to turn off the power on all my devices. I know that the US doesn't have a switch on their power outlets but many countries do.
I'm not sure I understand, how does having a message on your screen help with a pixel refresh? The only real solution for yourself is knowing how long a pixel refresh takes and how long before it starts after switching your TV off. Then from there you know when to unplug it.
@@warreng5257 a message - ok incorrect choice of word, should be prompt with yes/no option. No need to unplug things in this country as wall outlets have a switch and for extension boards there is a choice.
What about countries where there are frequent power outages /load shedding? Would it help to keep track of usage so you let the pixel refresher run every four hours and then switch off the mains? I prefer switching off main power to tv and gaming consoles over night.
@@wehshikasai9953 look into an UPS (uninterruptible power supply) possibly? Power bar with a battery that kicks in when power goes out, they aren't too expensive.
Does anyone know how the "Screen off" feature affects the automatic pixel refresher? For instance, when I have turned on the TV for 4 hours, and 3.5 hours of it I had the screen turned off (but sound remains): Is the automatic pixel refresher going to run? Or does it wait for an additional 3.5 hours of "screen time" until it runs?
You assumed wrongly lol, the power off button on your remote does in fact put the tv into standby. If you watch your tv screen after using the power off (stare at the black screen) after a short while (approx 20 minutes) you should see a small white flash usually at the top of the screen. This is the pixel refresher finishing it’s cycle.
Thank god you made this video! My older siblings think switching off plug is normal. I say it will mess up the pixel. I have cx oled in my bedroom and we have c1 in the living room. I will say it again your the best tv reviewer on yt. #roadto100ksubs
Great video, just one quick question. If I turn off the surge protector every once in a while and my OLED is connected to said power strip, when I turn the power switch back on Will the TV remember how many hours of use were used last? Or if for some reason my home loses power Will the TV not account for the previous hours and reset? I’ve also heard that the newer models run and extensive pixel cleaning after 2000 hours of use. Will unplugging the TV at any point before that 2000 mark affect the hours the TV is suppose to remember prior?
Thanks for the info, I never realised that 😯 What I did notice was that when the TV was in standby, my electric smart meter was showing that the TV was using more electric than you would expect for standby mode. It makes sense now - it must be doing a pixel refresh 😀
Interesting, because I live in an apartment and bought a 55" LG C1 5 months ago that I never unplugged (I had a crappy old 720p Sanyo before) and *didn't* notice any difference in my electricity bill. Could've fooled me. Also, I love this TV. It's why I bought a PS5 and then renter's insurance. lol
Thank you for this very educational Video, I got mine connected on a smart plug and it feels really bad turning my Oled off this way, but I wasn't able to find anything online that says otherwise. Now I know better thx again.
I recently purchased a LG C1 from BB with 5yr Geek Squad Protection plan! Without that guaranteed protection i would have purchased a Samsung QN90A instead!
It doesn't really have to be plugged in all the time. When you switch off the TV the relais either clicks instantly or after like 5-7 minutes. In these 5-7 minutes the Pixel Refresher runs. So you just have to wait for that click and then can safely turn the power off. 😎🤟
I myself have called LG's customer service and the sellers say that you can definitely unplug the power cord. But that's after about an hour. Because then the TV is done with the pixel process. So it's a bit untrue what you spread, ie that it damages the TV forever! which it does not do at all if you wait about an hour after turning it off.
My point was that if you always unplug the TV straight away and the TV never has the opportunity to run the auto pixel refresher, it could then cause damage. Obviously it is fine to unplug it after it has run the refresher. Not sure why LG are saying to wait 1 hour? That's wrong in itself for the auto pixel refresher. Less than 10 minutes and you are good.
@@TheTechGiantUA-cam I understand what you mean! What LG says to me must completely stand for them. but of course I assume they know what they are talking about. Something else is strange. I myself have started by unplugging the power cable due to the high electricity prices that prevail now. I usually wait about an hour after watching TV. So I follow what low has said and what they themselves stand for. ✌🏻😊
Great tip. I had to run the manual pixel cleaning when i got my 77a1 - clouding was MASSIVE, worse than anthing i have seen on the net. But after one (very hard to start and finalize) clean over night, the picture was perfect. Basically zero clouding. I guess should I have just continued using it this "softer" pixel refresher would have fixed it? But I have gotten a real monday sample. just problems. Right now my TV goes black after just sitting on my HTPC watching your videos - so annoying - and cant access smart services....will be avaialble shortly.
This is helpful information. But what's the fate of customers in parts of the world with epileptic power supply that as result have no control of abrupt power cuts
I can’t believe people are unplugging them, it’s sounds like my mother and she’s 70 bless her. Believing that this was a good thing, just like turning off the central heating when it fact it costs more to hear a home from zero… lol 😂 thanks for the chuckle 😀
@@alexblacksmith5605 in my experience having a consistent maintained temperature of 22-24°C in the winter for an older home is generally more cost effective and efficient then shutting the system down and starting from cold each time. Attach a usb lights or hard drive to your oled so if its running pixel refresher in background you will know because lights will be on even after putting your tv in standby. Once its done with it, lights will be off..you will also hear a click sound when its done
Got a question. When I use the tv for 4 hours!!! I know the click sound goes after 4 to 5 minutes after turning off when it's done. However I noticed from time to time when it doesn't do that. As soon as I turn my oled off. After a few seconds I hear the click. Why is the click so much faster? When it's not even doing it?
@@JRBowling1997 its the sound of power supply turning off..it will make click sound only when its turn off completely so if you hear a click sound instantly that means tv is turned off completely and not doing pixel refresh. Once pixel refresher is done, power supply goes off making click sound
Can the problem occur after unplugging just few times, or does it take several times? --I ask, because eventually there will be occasionally neighborhood power outages, which is essentially the same as unplugging. Can't do much about that.
It will be fine to move it or if there is a power cut. The issue is when people unplug it every day and as soon as they have turned the TV off,as this means the TV never has tge opportunity to run the auto pixel refresh.
Of course leaving tvs on stand by is a no no and many people turn it off and other devices i always have my stuff on stand by just cos i like the red light lol !!! Sorry if this was answered already, but I didnt see/find it.. In te OLED Panel Care Screen, what should "Adjust Logo Brightness" be set to (off, low, or high)?
2:06 Not true exactly: I had the TV off in my bedroom, turned off the lights and went to sleep. About an hour later, a big white banner appeared on my OFF TV, blasting my room with light and startling me awake. It stated that Pixel Cleaning had completed. Then a white line progressed down the screen, top to bottom, and the screen went totally black again. Gotta love engineers who don't take the user into account when designing interfaces: who thought it was necessary or a bright idea to make the TV notify the user that a housekeeping function had completed on an OFF TV?
Lovely jubbly! Great information. One thing, though. I was hoping that you would have continued reading as it was going on to mention about after 2000 hours of use. What was that all about?
How much does the standby and automatic refresher consume power? What if there is a lightning storm and I need to unplug the TV fast? Or a blackout? Is it okay to unplug sometimes if you don't use it in a long time, as long as you don't unplug regularly?
Not sure what power they use. Yes it is fine to unplug it straight away if there is a storm or such like. You are ok to unplug it all the time if you so wish, the problem is when people unplug it straight after putting the TV into stanby, as he TV then get the chance to run the refresher.

I bought a LG OLEDCSPSA display model from store that had been running for a few myths, so they obviously had to turn it off to re-pack it. Will this hurt the pixel refresher or any thing else
Very interesting. Does this Pixel Cleaning feature work if you completely switch the TV off (but still leave it plugged in?) I've always switched my TV off like this when I'm not using it, TBH.
Hi, just wanted to know if it’s ok to power my Amazon firestick with the USB port. Most people say not to do it. A video on this would be massively helpful and great
I thought I was better so always turn of your Oled c1 tv when you go to eat or even just a bathroom brake, was that all a lie, is it better for the tv to be on directly?
Hello, I don't speak English. I live in Turkey. I'm asking a question from Google translate. I have C1. I have a few questions, can you answer them? 1- What should be the Logo Brightness setting? 2-How often should we do pixel cleaning? 3-How many hours is the average life of the oleds, for example, if we use 6 hours a day, what will the life of the oled be? 4-Does Oled burn occur in Oled C1? 5- Should I use C1 without unplugging it from the electrical outlet, should I just turn off the TV from the remote? 6-TV picture mode Whether we use live or eco mode or confort mode, which mode would you recommend? What does Confort Mode do?
Hi, see this video for question one Logo Brightness ua-cam.com/video/tVtJPZ4UtFs/v-deo.html The tv has a counter for the pixel refresher based on the hours the tv was used.
Wow. This is a very important feature that I wasn't aware of. I have an older LG TV that has stopped working, so I'm looking at newer models. It's good to know that feature exists and that it only takes about seven minutes to complete. That should mean it's still OK to turn off the T.V. at the socket, when going away.
Here where I live is common to have power outtage, so I switch off the power strip when I go to bed and turn it on in the morning. Would those 4hs still count or would start over? what would be the best in this case?
Thunderstorm can broke your tv. So in summer i must unplug it sometimes. But those are rare moments so i dont think it would raise a risk very much if it is sometimes unplugged because of thunderstorm. Right? Because i wont unplug it everyday, only for rare occassions.
Unplugging it now and again isn't going to be an issue. If you wait about 10 minutes, which is enough time for the pixel refresher to run, then you can unplug it as many times as you want.
So what happens if your trying to save power (and at our house) we try and switch all the stand by things off, how do Isave power with the TV without damaging it then? Btw, this is my first Oled TV and before this we always used to switch the tv off at the wall and unplug it.
So after ten to fifteen mins in standby it should be safe to unplug then. Just don’t unplug as soon as you turn it to standby incase it might be running pixel refresher.
One more question. So the pixel clean or whatever it's called lol comes standard out of box yes? All I have to do like you said was just use it and put it in stanby?

I just wish they would use the standby light as an indicator, like it would turn green while the refresher was running, and turn back to red, when we could unplug the TV.
I would love to have my bias lighting come on and off with my LG C1 but USB port doesn't seem to be strong enough, i.e. lights don't come on when plugged into USB port with TV powered on. The only time i unplug it is if there is a big storm happening as I get worried i might get a lightening strike or something that could surge through the TV.
It’s not an issue you’re fine you don’t have to watch these recycled burn ins videos

Especially considering it disables the pixel refresh which is the most likely thing of all to damage your expensive OLED TV.

Good advice but a Pro like Me - actually can hear when it will do it's work 😁

Great advice and the main reason to NEVER BUY a cheaper ex-display OLED TV from any shop. The reason? They have all their TV's plugged into a mains supply where they can all be switched off using 1 switch at the mains. So on a night time they just switch them all off so will never run this feature. So the cheaper ex-display OLED will be wrecked and not worth even the cheaper price

One question, which is more advisable to leave the TV on Quick Start + or turn it off? I understand that every 4 hours of use a brief cleaning is done but I do not know if this affects this process.
I was wondering the same, I turned it off not sure if it affects
Doesn't matter if you ask for screen saving concerns. It only really affect how quick you get into the apps and such, and maybe if the TV updates them and the OS in the background.
Quick start increases standby power consumption of course.
Wow... I was not aware of this important feature.... Thank u so much I just brought LG C1.... Please keep on making such videos...helpful for us...

This is very helpful, but owning a tv shouldn't be this stressful or this much work. Crazy!
So how often do you recommend running it?
The basic cycle that's run in standby doesn't deteriorate pixels so it shouldn't be a problem. And it's a good thing to have the maximum brightness down a bit to increase the lifespan of those dear pixels.
@@camj3557 I believe Sony recommends a full on pixel scrub once a year. This is different than the small automatic cleaning the video is talking about after 4 hours.

It is true that the newer OLED’s are far better protected against burn in compared to older models.

Glad to learn this useful advice for my b8 series oled. Now the kids have been reinforced with the idea to not leave the TV unattended without the red standby indicator or a parental lock would be imposed for the next viewing session. It works and certainly glad the TV does what it need to refresh the pixels.
Hi when is the recommended time to switch off the TV from the main after a long period on standby when not in use?

Why would someone unplug the tv when not in use?
From what people tell me, it's normally to save power

Does anyone know how the "Screen off" feature affects the automatic pixel refresher? For instance, when I have turned on the TV for 4 hours, and 3.5 hours of it I had the screen turned off (but sound remains): Is the automatic pixel refresher going to run? Or does it wait for an additional 3.5 hours of "screen time" until it runs?
Silly question - how do you actually "put your TV on standby mode"? I assume it is not by clicking on the power off button on the remote?
You assumed wrongly lol, the power off button on your remote does in fact put the tv into standby. If you watch your tv screen after using the power off (stare at the black screen) after a short while (approx 20 minutes) you should see a small white flash usually at the top of the screen. This is the pixel refresher finishing it’s cycle.

There is no problem in switching off at the wall. Just let it sit in standby mode for 10 mins before you turn it off/unplug it. Best of both worlds.

What is "standby mode"?
Does it mean turned off and plugged in?
Standby is when you turn the TV off via the remote.
Is it affected by power outages? Just a thought.
@@TheTechGiantUA-cam Hi! I’ve been having a problem with my LG B9 2019 OLED the volume mode in the audio settings when I put on auto volume it usually will higher the volume up like when it on the regular audio and I put it on 5 it usually higher the volume when I click the auto volume on but now it lowers the audio, like when I’m watching something like the Batman on HBO Max it does the same thing with the Dolby Atmos audio for that type of content on the TV. I been fixing it by unplug the TV power plug 🔌 and waiting 59 sec and then plug it back in and the Dolby Atmos audio works again. I don’t know why this is happening to me and my tv!? I don’t know maybe it’s been the software update’s for this type of tv?
Sounds a bit like you need to install a UPSl to protect the TV from emergency or unplanned power outages?
I bought a LG OLEDCSPSA display model from store that had been running for a few myths, so they obviously had to turn it off to re-pack it. Will this hurt the pixel refresher or any thing else
Thanks for the good advice never unplugged it from the wall outlet but had a problem with fuse box had to be replaced you think that would've been ok
Yes mate it will be perfectly fine.
It's more of an issue for those who do it day in,day out
Very interesting. Does this Pixel Cleaning feature work if you completely switch the TV off (but still leave it plugged in?)
I've always switched my TV off like this when I'm not using it, TBH.
Hi, just wanted to know if it’s ok to power my Amazon firestick with the USB port. Most people say not to do it. A video on this would be massively helpful and great
Thanks guy question what is that about 2000 hours at the end
I will be covering that in a video in a few days 🙂
I thought I was better so always turn of your Oled c1 tv when you go to eat or even just a bathroom brake, was that all a lie, is it better for the tv to be on directly?
can you see the quick refresh on screen when its working after i turned off the tv? or is the screen just regular black?
Do I need to have Quick Start+ activated for this? Or doesn’t matter?
Do you have any dead pixels on this OLED TV after using it for more than 2 years now? Please update us so, we can have clear understanding. Thanks.
My dear Giant, from when 10 minutes have passed since standby can I unplug the TV?
Paul Great advice thank you. So Never buy an OLED from the display shelf, even if it`s the last one there.
Do other companies do this? Specifically Hisense?
Need to ask this in the uk we are due to get power cuts will this harm the tv when it comes back on
Does it harm to switch off at the wall after the refresher has done its thing?
No thats fine
Thanks a lot. I ordered my LG OLED C1 today. Greetings from Germany.
Good choice!
Is it ok if I only unplug it at night when I go to bed? It can do all that pixel refresh stuff during the day right?
So what happens if your trying to save power (and at our house) we try and switch all the stand by things off, how do Isave power with the TV without damaging it then? Btw, this is my first Oled TV and before this we always used to switch the tv off at the wall and unplug it.
A very interesting video. One question if I may. How long is it before an oled tv loses it's brightness ?
Never make mistakes with your punctuation spacing. Like, this !
So after ten to fifteen mins in standby it should be safe to unplug then. Just don’t unplug as soon as you turn it to standby incase it might be running pixel refresher.
Correct 👍🙂
Forgive my ignorance but standby is when you hit the power button on my TV remote right?
That is correct. And you should also see a res light come on at the bottom of the TV.
One more question. So the pixel clean or whatever it's called lol comes standard out of box yes? All I have to do like you said was just use it and put it in stanby?
