@Trista Fravel Another video chef said to pat the flour into the meat with other seasonings - he said that was called "spanking the flour" -thus it has become my choice technique if only for opportunity to say that while I'm cooking!
larry strong lol you ain’t lying, she did salt and pepper and just as i was about exit the video i saw the red top it stopped me dead in my tracks. I said “ok come through sis” 👏🏾
I have tried your recipe about a year ago. Every month for a year I have tried at least 11 other recipes and have decided that yours is the best for me and my family!! Thank you!!
Brittany Spivey yea because White people never know how to season their foods. A black persons had to of taught her 🙄. I can season my food incredibly and I’m white! No one black taught me either! Crazy!
If you are using Lawreys season salt, you don't need regular salt or garlic salt. You can use garlic powder. The salt in Lawrey and cream of mushroom is plenty. You can always add more salt to taste, but you can't take it away. Good recipe, though😍
If you mix the same amount of corn starch in a cup with cold water, using a spoon to stir it into a paste then pour it in the broth (takes only a few seconds), it won't form into little flour clumps. It looks delicious !
Why are we trying to change this lady’s seasonings?! i bet it tastes fabulous! I was proud to see all the different flavors put in! If you don’t like the amount of salt then don’t put it in your roast! Use garlic powder instead of garlic salt, change it but this is her preference and how she cooks HER food!
Thank you for your support!!💗 the fun thing about cooking is it can be whatever you like, add some, take away...make it how you like it. I hope you enjoyed!!😊😊
What’s nice about all these roast videos is by now we are old enough to know what we like , add some subtract some I’m happy we have such a choice, keep up the videos and thanks for the time to make video
There has been a lot of good suggestions about what do use in place of so much salt, and just not to use so much. Thank you for your recommendations. For my next pot roast, less salt is my goal, less is more...the meat has enough flavor. Have a great day!
Good recipe. No one asked but I usually fully incorporate the cream of mushroom soup into the liquid that's in the crockpot. That eliminates the need to thicken the liquid with cornstarch because the liquid that the roast cooks in mixed with the cream of mushroom soup turns out to be the perfect consistency for gravy. Will try this way as well.
Thank you for presenting a quick, thoroughly explained and demonstrated, and easy to follow tutorial . It looks absolutely delicious! Thanks for sharing!
It looks great to me! The seasonings were all great! Love Lawry's Seasoning Salt, my mom used it when I was a kid. Of course when seasoning your own meat at home you can put as much or as little seasoning as you wish. If you want to use garlic powder instead of garlic salt that's your preference. You can put whatever seasoning you want. Sometimes I just don't understand it when comments are made about what the person making the video should have or shouldn't have done or why they did or didn't use something. My goodness people! The video was made because this lady thought you might enjoy a delicious recipe for pot roast. Something she enjoys and she wanted to share it. Give it a break already. If you like it make it... if not move on and find one you like. It drives me crazy because I think a lot of people have the wrong idea about UA-cam. Most people share videos because they believe someone out there may find it useful. They aren't looking for approval and certainly not criticism.
🤔I came to UA-cam looking for a great crockpot recipe and am making this as we speak! I used a tender round eye roast and same seasonings.🤩 I also added carrots to mine. The amount of seasonings used is fine in my opinion. McCormick's and Lawry's brands are the best! ;) I am making this for my picky 10yr old son and I for supper tonight. Lol We plan on eating around 7:30ish and I will definitely let you know how it turns out! Thanks for taking the time to make and share your video! 🥩🥕🥔🍞🥘🍽🍷🥛 Ignore the "salt comments!" If you wanted your video to be critiqued, you would have mentioned it in the beginning of your recipe video. People need to lay off the rude and negative comments. I myself have always used a lot of salt & pepper, garlic, and many other great seasonings. I'm in my mid 30s and haven't had the first health problem. My mom used a lot of salt and seasonings as well growing up and my family and I are all very healthy. The FDA pretty much claims everything is bad for us nowadays. So I say, eat whatever taste great! Can't wait til later tonight!! 😊
I have spent hours reading & watching videos looking for an easy to follow recipe. I found the simplicity of this refreshing. I went ahead & did EXACTLY shown. I also broke off a piece for my husband & myself. It was approx med rare which is what we like. EXTREMELY tender & juicy. I thought I'm sure I can't do this twice so about a month later I did and instead of the added veggies, I served up as a Steak dinner. SPOT ON!!!!!! I'm 55 yes old love to cook but roasts have eluded me. But not any more. THANK YOU.
This looks SUPER delicious! Very similar to mine but I add the veggies halfway through the cooking of the roast so they don't get too mushy. I also don't add the cornstarch until I have blended it with COLD water first to avoid the lumps.
I would do everything she did but I would add Baby golden Yukons, organic carrots 🥕 I don't peal mine I like the nutrients, and I slice a small white onion in half , toss that in too. I even pound the roast with a meat mallot too before I start the process. 😊
OMG, I'm making this RIGHT NOW!! I went out yesterday and purchased the roast. Followed your seasoning and cooking directions. I did add carrots and potatoes as well. This is my FIRST time making pot roast -- and I'm 47 years old lol :) Can't wait to eat it tonight!
It’s such a simple recipe that ppl use spices and sauces to jazz up the technique. It’s a good video if you don’t have sodium restrictions. If someone is low carb I heard it’s good to increase sodium so you do not dehydrate. I am not a dr. I’m not a nutritionist. This looks really good and she is excited about yummy food. Thank you for the inspiration:)
The following post is not meant to (offend or criticize), but to inform you of the possibilities of improving how we prepare food. As someone who died of a V-Fib Arrest years ago and was brought back to life, heathy choices in food prep is something important to me. Margot put together a great video and I'm sure this Pot Roast is delicious. That said here I go. You might want to think about cutting the salt. Sodium-free beef stock for starters. Maybe eliminate the cracked salt altogether, the Lawry's is salty enough. Real garlic and onion would taste so much better than the dried seasoning, and no need for the added salt as well. Salt is a tenderizer so it is necessary, but it can and should be used in moderation. As a society, we are trained to douse our food with tons of salt, however, we can cut 90% of the salt and still achieve tasty juicy food that isn't hidden by the over-salting we are so apt to do. All this said I got on here to find a method to cooking a pot roast and I think this video helped me in that quest. Thank you Margot for helping an old man out. We learn from each other on this site and I hope you can read this post and take it for what it's worth. Healthy living is something I strive for and rarely achieve. What I'm hoping to do here is to spread some wisdom on the use of salt and help someone else in their quest to eat as healthy as possible, yet still enjoy tasty food. Maybe even get the flavors we were going for in the beginning. God bless.
People talk a lot of rubbish regarding salt. Although the dangers of salt are trotted out by doctors, there is zero proof that its bad for you, unless you eat it by the handful. Salt is an essential of life, enjoy your salt and stay heathy, without it, you could well, and probably will, become ill or worse.
Is the first video I see she doesn't put the veggies in the cooker and I love it thank you for the recipe obviously I cook the veggies apart with a good mash potato that good amazing with the gravy.
Hi Margo this is November 2021 and I tried your recipe, it came out amazing I cooked the pot roast in the crockpot three hours on high and three hours on low and used flour for the gravy and I must say this is the best pot roast I’ve ever had in my life thank you so much, Jim (not bad for a single eligible bachelor😉)
This looks like the best recipe for the meat I've ever seen. All that sesoning made my mouth water! That gravy would be so good on vegtables too. Now I'm hungry!🤗
You can make a cornstarch or flour slurry to add to the crockpot while it's cooking. Would also recommend adding green peppers, cartots and potatoes....Would also use basil, tomato paste, BBQ, cooking wine to kick up the flavor.
If you make a slurry first with the cornstarch and water, you won't get any lumps at all. I'm sure it's delicious, will try with a few adjustments for less salt. tfs.
I made this meal exactly as the recipe! It came out so nice my friend went and got supplies to make it again. I love my salt and seasoning so i used just as much, my friend does not hardly use salt and she loved it! Thankyou fo taking the time to show us your simple and easy to follow video and your delicous recipe!
May I offer some suggestions? Stab the meat with a fork before seasoning. Add carrots potatoes , mushrooms, garlic and a little bit of celery. You will get the same excellent pot roast and an amazing soup! I do think your recipe is great!
Season was on point..I'm making this tonight well tomorrow I'm letting my season marinate over night but I'm following this procedure..I like my gravy a bit thicker but this looks delicious I can't wait to make this

Good to hear! In my initial comment I was concerned, especially since aside from not liking a high salt content, beef broth typically contains sodium even if it's low. So I thought this would be salty. Thanks to your comment I'm going to try this for dinner tomorrow.
Looks great!! I love how you season you're meat, a lot if people just add salt and pepper. If you made a little rue with flour or corn starch and butter then add you liquid for the gravy it wouldn't clump up.
Looks great! I'm going to add potatoes, and carrots to mine, maybe celery and the cream of mushrooms, but not sure how the celery would taste with the cream of mushrooms.
The corn starch, you should mix it up with some water Before you put it in the pan so you dont get those little balls of flour like in the video. Just a suggestion.
Dissolve your cornstarch in 1/4 cup of cold water first, then add it to the hot drippings in the pan. 👍
And I was like oh, did she really add it like that.
Thank you for the tip! I didn't know this😖
Margot... instead of the cold water, you could use more of the broth cold..
Margot Brown pay them no mind. What you did worked. They would’ve eaten anyway.
@Trista Fravel Another video chef said to pat the flour into the meat with other seasonings - he said that was called "spanking the flour" -thus it has become my choice technique if only for opportunity to say that while I'm cooking!
When she pulled out that Lawry's I knew this meal was going to be bomb! Exactly how I make mine

Wow that makes me so happy!! Thank you for sharing this. I know there are thousands of of pot roast videos, I feel very honored to be your top!

This lady knows how to cook. I love the way she seasoned her roast!

@@crystaledwards6610 thank you!! I'm so happy this turned out good for you! Thank you for letting me know!

That was too much salt, with so much containing salt, for me.
@@daisypom1 , the cream of mushroom just stayed on top of the meat i would have mixed it in the beef stock she used

Yes, I was wondering why she left that blob of soup on top of the meat instead of mixing it all in.
My wife made it this week with mashed sweet potatoes & turnip greens OMG it was great thanks.
That sounds AMAZING!!!
Thank you for presenting a quick, thoroughly explained and demonstrated, and easy to follow tutorial . It looks absolutely delicious! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much! I appreciate that!!
NOW, I'm starving. I swear I can smell that roast.. Love love love gravy.

mix the corn starch in some water first instead of just putting the powder straight into the pan, helps minimize chunks.
I seen her adding it straight to the gravy and it was hurting me lol
I was nodding and smiling until the mushroom sludge. Nix!
If you make a slurry first with the cornstarch and water, you won't get any lumps at all. I'm sure it's delicious, will try with a few adjustments for less salt. tfs.

Thank u. I am making this for company tomorrow night. Can't wait
Yay!! I hope it turns out amazing!! How exciting!!
I have a metal rack that I bought that fits inside my crock-pot. But if you don’t have anywhere to buy such, you can lay down some Celery under your meat. After cooking, scrape from bottom and discard. (Nobody wants to eat "slow-cooked celery") It will hold your meat off the bottom of the crock-pot, and add a subtle flavour to your gravy. I do like the idea of searing the meat first. I don’t bother, myself, but itself a good idea. It will add a more brown colour to the gravy.
Nobody but me wants to eat slow cooked celery. If you cook it soft enough you can even mash it up with your potatoes.
Damn, that looks so good. Perfection!
Looks fabulous will try this week thanks so much
Can't wait to try this, it looks really good. Thank you.

Can’t wait to try this but without the soup.
Forgot to mention I’m on a keto diet.. that’s why I can’t add the soup. 🙂
Its gravy
The cream of mushroom, amazing. I tried/cook it. Thanks.

Good to hear! In my initial comment I was concerned, especially since aside from not liking a high salt content, beef broth typically contains sodium even if it's low. So I thought this would be salty.
Thanks to your comment I'm going to try this for dinner tomorrow.
I added dry red wine to my pot roast. Yum yum.
I can imagine how this tasted!! I'll have to try this next time! Thank you for sharing🙂
That looks sooo Yummy.. This seems so simple so this will be my Sunday dinner for my hubby!! ☺☺
The thumbnail alone got a thumbs up 🤤🤤🤤
Thank you!
Nice tips on making a pot roast. I would dissolve the corn starch into a little bit of water before adding it to the broth.
Looks great!! I love how you season you're meat, a lot if people just add salt and pepper. If you made a little rue with flour or corn starch and butter then add you liquid for the gravy it wouldn't clump up.
wow........getting a mouthfull of condensed cream of mushroom soup........mmmmmmmmm, how appetizing. you had me prior to that.
I'm sure it delishish , you go girl.
This is very similar to how I make mine too! 🙂 I also add carrots, potatoes and celery, and lots of mushrooms 😋 So yummy 🙌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽
What’s the gooey looking white stuff in top of the meat at the end???
Cream of mushroom soup. She should have blended it with the beef broth.
Instead of corn starch, can I use a powdered gravy pouch/packet?
Looks great! I'm going to add potatoes, and carrots to mine, maybe celery and the cream of mushrooms, but not sure how the celery would taste with the cream of mushrooms.
***I cooked this on low for about 7.5-8 hours!***
Yummy, looks delicious 😋
I'm going to make this on Saturday! This looks so delicious!
That sounds great! I hope all turns out!!

The corn starch, you should mix it up with some water Before you put it in the pan so you dont get those little balls of flour like in the video. Just a suggestion.
