Rescue is Rescue....sometimes with gunfire sometimes with angry ocean...no matter what it's a fight to help someone survive. The rescuers are always facing risk . Major props to all who put themselves on the line for someone else. Not everyone can do that. This was a cool episode...
When I was a kid in Northern Michigan, I remember watching the USCG Rescue Swimmers jump out of helicopters into Lake Michigan in the winter thinking it was bad ass!
exactly ... if you want to join and do a job, join to do that job and don't try to transfer once you are in. Want to be a Ranger? Go Option 40... you'll pipeline through OSUT (BCT and IN school), ABN, RASP, and then Ranger. Same with SF ... go 18X, and pipeline in ... so many times units will try to dissuade someone from pursuing a career track.
I always thought of it as SARC’s are heavy on the medicine, coasties heavy on water capabilities, PJ’s heavy on rescue and extraction. My old battlefield airmen instructor use to say “we use specific skills to get them out the fight and into the care they need”. He would say that as we were getting smoked haha
Another great episode my dudes! I'm loving the "VS" series but I'm also fiending for more AFSOC info because so little info is out there on many of those AFSCs. At some point can we get an episode on AFSOC Special Missions Aviators? I know ya'll probably know a bunch of them and their job seems super dope. Would also be cool to hear from a SOF pilot. A little birdie told me that #1 on my interview wishlist (Combat Aviation Advisor) might already be in the works. Thanks for this podcast guys. It's an invaluable resource. Edit: My reference to a "little birdie" was not a shot at Peaches. Seriously, please don't hurt me Peaches.
Love the content you all are putting out. Helps pass the time while I’m on shift or driving around, and keeps me in the right mindset to keep preparing. I hope I can meet the Ones ready team one day.
Hey guys, you should ask Zack Hughes to get on the podcast. He's a former Special Forces Communications Sergeant who served with the 7th Special Forces Group!
Is it possible to get in touch with a navy sarc and also can you guys go more into detail with afsw careers on an enabler standpoint and someone from the SOF or conventional units that those fields where attached to
Starting at 21:00 they talk about how realistic the movie was. Basically they said they made the training seem a little easier and the missions were definitely way more extreme than real life. Otherwise relatively accurate

My Dad was a PJ he went to Vietnam three times and he saved many lives h was a true hero.❤
If you find a SARC, that would be an awesome episode. You guys have the greatest content. Thank you.
Agreed
This is DOPE.... y’all should really get a coast guard TACLET on. Everyone wants to hear from those dudes since that submarine video came out.
I was a recruiter for the Coast Guard shortly after the movie dropped. It was both the best thing to happen to recruiting phones and the worst ;p

Great episode! Like the distinction between rescue swimmers and PJ’s. Water confidence is what I focused on most in this episode.
YESSS I've wanted this for so long

Another golden video. Good looks. 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽💯💯💯‼️‼️‼️
Thank you guys!!
You guys hit up Andy Stumpf & his experience with PJ’s.
The first few seconds had me thinking my headset stopped working 😅
Got the answer, thanks 🇨🇦
The Perfect Storm had an interesting PJ rescue.
Great laughs - much love from OH!!!
As a suggestion how about someone from the 17th STS and one of the Army Rangers they worked with?

How often do pjs actually do water rescues?
Rarely ever. Thats what Coast Guard and Navy rescue swimmers are for.
Recon marines vs special recon 😬

I’m wanting to cross-train into PJ but I wear glasses. Are you allowed to wear glasses at A&S or do I have to get LASIK/PKR
Yeah you'll need your vison corrected and the surgery has to of been like 1 year before your enlisting. Im in the same boat i cant see far
@@dalefitzgerald4369 awesome! I’m enlisted already and have about 18 months till I’m eligible to turn in a cross training package
posted 30 sec ago, never been this early.
Lol I said the same thing.
Rescue swimmer A school is now 24 weeks (6 months)
Wondering why Rescue Swimmer Vince has a Canadian flag and ice axes on his wall?
Did you listen to the podcast? He talks in depth about it. He's Canadian.
maybe... just maybe... because he is Canadian.
LET'S FREAKIN GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, oh also, I guess "The Guardian" isn't an accurate representation of Rescue Swimmers?
