CG.. they are my Brothers.

My cousin just retired from the USCG after 4 years active duty in Tampa bay Florida and Key West Florida as a BM3 Petty Officer. Now he is on 2 years reserve. Proud of him!
Out of the marines and try to join USCG port security unit reserve unit.... recruiter asks me to submit a resume.... ahhh, ok.... being an 0311and avid boater, I’m squared away! 3 weeks later, I’m told they are not looking for my type... told them I don’t eat crayons anymore and they still didn’t care.... thanks for reading.
That’s interesting, my local recruiter never mentioned a resume for my local PSU. In fact I was offered a 10k bonus. Maybe it’s because you’re prior service?
Evan Monast ya, maybe. this was 2010, economy was bad and jobs we scares. All the cops in the reserve unit were not leaving, spot we’re limited I assume. But I still have the resume today, and no shit they asked for one. I was told that they were not looking for the marine type of leadership. After that, I realized I was being discriminated because I was a crayon eater... marine lives matter. And God bless the Marines that went down on the coast to California today. One was killed and 8 are mia.

Thats kind of a slap in the face. Understanding that the CG can be pretty picky and as far as the resume thing goes, I have to wonder if he was referring to eResume's that others have to fill out for assignments? Just a guess. I don't know what the Marines have to fill out to change once duty stations. Could have been ignorance on his/her part. Maybe getting in touch with another recruiter would help? I'm sure any PSU would be happy to have someone who knows how to tie their shoes much less handle a firearm. But just a warning, your camping equipment is way better then ours so don't expect any "cool" stuff. . ;-)
Until just recently, it was a requirement that you had to be 6 feet tall to be in the Coast Guard......that way if the boat sank you could just wade ashore!

I remember sailing out of Newport News on a 175’ buoy tender right before a hurricane and counting all the much larger navy vessels heading in to tie up and ride out the storm in port or in their barracks.
