Thank you for that video, so informative! Last time I went to buy a cream, the employee said I didn't have dry skin but dehydrated skin, which actually made me believe that dehydrated skin is a skin type
I watched your Best Moisturizers of 2020 video and immediately ordered the SkinFix Barrier Triple-Lipid Peptide Cream. I have combination / oily skin but it's become less oily as I hone in my skincare routine. One big issue I was still trying to tackle was dehydration and I wasn't sure exactly how to fix it without using a cream that felt too heavy. You recommended using this at night and wow! It did the trick. My skin looks absolutely lovely, plump, and I also feel like my skin is producing less oil. Thank you so much for the recommendation, Hyram! : D
I would like to thank hyram for his work, from things I’ve learnt watching you I was able to make my mother a skincare routine and it has honestly rewinded the years ...got rid of redness and texture all over the face and she feels more confident than she has in years ... love to see her smiling in the mirror ♥️🥲
This is one of the best videos you've ever done. I've been doing skincare for years and years and even teaching it but I have never seen this information presented so simply and yet thoroughly. Thank you so much.
I just bought the skinfix today before I saw this video! How ironic! It felt like butter putting it on, I’m super excited. My skin is glowing right now.
Hi, Hyram! Just so you know, "Joseon" is pronounced like "Cho-sun" (or "chosen" but with no emphasis on either syllable). It is the word for "Korea" in Korean (at least before North and South were split--it's the name of the last Korean Dynasty). =] Thank you for these videos!
Ah hell no it isn't. Just read it with J not C. Many korean words are misrepresented in their english spelling, it's actually worse than japanese. Chosun is the spelling that has been used for ages but that doesn't make it right. If you read Chosun as you would in English that sounds like 초선 in korean and that is name many red light district women used. 조선=Joseon alright?
I just got that SkinFix product yesterday! Tried it last night and really enjoyed it. I have learned that I have very dry skin, which I did not realize. Watching @HarliG skin care video really opened my eyes to the fact that I might acutally have opposite skin than I thought! I've been feeling like I need a rich moisturizer because I always feel dry when I wake even when I use a "hydrating" moisturizer before bed. Now I'm looking for something to properly moisturize during the day. Can't wait to try a few of the products you mentioned! Also, bless your sponsor for allowing a video with other recommendations outside of their brand!
I spent most my life thinking I had dry skin then I moved to Paris and went to a pharmacy to buy skincare. The lady who could have been my mum and who clearly knew what she was talking about barely looked at me and said "you're not dry. You're combination dehydrated". My skin has never been better since.
Does anyone else get discouraged when you try keep up with your routine, use good products and you still break out just the same as when you had no routine? Thats me 🙃
Bro sameee, But then I found out that I used to over exfoliate so I switched to lithely exfoliating once a week and heavily exfoliate once a month. (Based on what my esthetician told me to do)
Honestly, changing my moisturizer did wonders for me. I used to use a face cream for combination skin, but my face never felt actually moisturized. Now I use CeraVe's face creams for normal to dry skin, and my skin just feels so much better.

Hi fellow oily-skin people! If you're trying to decide between the Rovectin and IUNIK water gel moisturizers, I've tried both! Rovectin is a little more hydrating with a little bit dewy finish. If you like the moist/glass skin look, you'll prefer this. IUNIK is a little less hydrating with a more natural matte finish. If you like a kind of soft-matte feeling with no greasiness, tackiness, dewyness, JUST SKIN (sort of like how silicone/dimethicone primers feel), then you'll prefer the IUNIK. P.S. If you're worried about the fragrance in the IUNIK, I can say that once I accidentally NUKED my moisture barrier with Nizoral shampoo, the YTTP Cleanser, and Paula's Choice 2% BHA, and my skin was so stripped, irritated, and dry that I couldn't use any other products for days -- but I could use the IUNIK moisturizer. It didn't burn or sting at all!

To yall struggling with fungal acne AND dehydration, I highly recommend squalane oil(I use the Timeless squalane oil) as your moisturizer. However you need to have other hydrating steps in your routine because a facial oil is not as complete as a traditional moisturizer. ANYWAY, once I started using squalane oil, my face has been SUPER SOFT for a very long time, like before this, I can feel my dehydration kicking in a few hours before my evening cleanse. Now, whenever I do my evening cleanse, I can actually feel my face super soft still. It's amazing honestly. Also, it's a dry oil(?), so it won't leave you feeling greasy etc but still provide a beautiful glow. Go get it now! It's fungal acne safe, non comodogenic and so good for acne prone skin.
I'm writing this down bc I have seb derm, pityrosporum folliculitis, and dehydrated skin. I have such a hard time using any oil or any moisturizers, but the fungal acne treatment (even Vanicream) absolutely fries my hair, scalp, and face. I didn't know it was damaging the barrier. Fungal acne is a pain!
Hyram, you are literally the best!!! You can so simply solve any freaking misconception about skin within a second! Why need a dermatologist to loot our money when an honest specialist like you exists! :)))
Thank you Hyram for posting this a week before I start Accutane!!! I was worried about my skins dehydration during Accutane but thank you for making this!!!
Oily skin is my jam. I discovered dehydration after I notice some really dry patches and little flakes and also, even if my skin is oily wasnt glowing. I begin trying some things to hydrate more than control the black-whiteheads. Im still looking for the best but the centella calming gel is my go to every day. Also the Propolis night Mask from iUnik is a hit, my skin is so plump after every use.
My skin type has been so confusing- first it was oily, then my acne got worse and it turned to be more combination, and now that my skin is (FINALLY) clearing up, I’ve noticed it’s been very dry, even on the places that I used to find oily… (I also do moisturize well with Cera Ve)
Thank you so much for explaining dehydration and dry skin type . wonderful pace, words and vibes! Enlightened and floating in bliss....all because of you

Okay this might just help me finally get some moisture back into my skin after this dry LA winter. Also, Joseon Calming Serum is pronounced "Jo-Sun" in Korean! :)
I think you just solved a huge mystery for me! I have a medical condition that causes me to tend towards full-body dehydration, but highly sensitive, reactive, sometimes dry, sometimes oily skin (and scalp). I kept looking at my skin and thinking: it seems like it is dry, but it's not actually "dry," it's "deflated" and weirdly textured. Never once did I think that the systematic dehydration was affecting my skin. This makes SO MUCH sense now. I have trouble w moisturizers bc many are thick, which makes me sweat, which makes fungus grow on my face overnight (yay), but some of the gels/serums might work. I was so focused on the outer layer/dryness that I never thought moisture isn't getting locked IN.
When Hyram reads your mind😩🙏🏻 I’m 90% sure my skin is dehydrated rather than dry bc it’s not rlly flaky it’s like..tight and wrinkly? Anyways I needed this thank youuuu!

Pro tip from a central Wisconsinite if you’re struggling with dehydration!! Winter is not my skin’s friend🙃 Before applying your moisturizer at night, just dab some water onto your face, THEN apply the moisturizer over it (or a serum first, then moisturizer). Feels super weird but it really helps seal that water into your skin. Also make sure use a thicker moisturizer like that one Hyram suggested. May not work for everyone but helped my dehydrated skin immensely! I’m normally combo skin type. Love you Hyram! (I discovered this tip from Dr Dray. Check her out)
My dry/dehydrated skincare routine based on the knowledge I’ve learned from Hyram, Cassandra, and Dr, Dray: *Morning* Splash water on face (no cleansing) Inkey list Polyglutamic acid Inkey list Coffee eye cream Isntree hyaluronic acid gel cream *Nighttime* Double cleanse: inkey Oat Cleansing Balm then Cerave hydrating cleanser Inkey list hyaluronic acid Ordinary Niacinamide_Zinc First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream With this routine I’ve repaired my skin barrier and reduced breakouts!
Heavy hydration + oil based moisturizer and maybe an added facial oil too like squalane oil which is non comodogenic I recommend you to try cosrx snail essence & hada labo premium gokujyun lotion(toner) for strong hydration.

What do you call a skin type which remains dry ass without any skincare, gets oily (and shiny) with any form of skincare on it and gets SUPER sweaty (like sweat drenched) pretty much whenever I go out.
You need to keep up with your skincare, the reason it feels even more oily is because you haven't used skincare for a bit, when you do, your face is still over producing oils because it has adapted to being very dry and when you add product, they both add together and makes you think its making you more oily. Some people refer to it as a purge, you will likely have a breakout but keep up with your routine within a week your skin will start to adapt to the new routine and reduce its oil production, skincare takes time to work, it takes a full month to shed our skin so you won't feel the full benefit for that month but you will notice a reduction in how oily you feel and that will continue to get better as time moves on, if after month you're still very very oily, then you need to start changing one product at a time, some people will take one product out of the routine to see if there is a difference and pin point what the problematic product is, and then when you figure it out, you buy a new product that better suits your skin and then use that for a month and see how it goes. Its a lot of trial and error I'm afraid, I tend to use up the product even if I'm not happy with it and then move on otherwise I would have half empty bottles everywhere and a very unhappy bank account. I wish you luck.

Us women in our 30s and 40s haven't exactly "lost" lipids, they just moved from our face to our belly region xDDD
by the time menopause kicks in, all the moisture under there is gone
I just bought the skinfix today before I saw this video! How ironic! It felt like butter putting it on, I’m super excited. My skin is glowing right now.
Hi, Hyram!
Just so you know, "Joseon" is pronounced like "Cho-sun" (or "chosen" but with no emphasis on either syllable). It is the word for "Korea" in Korean (at least before North and South were split--it's the name of the last Korean Dynasty).
=]
Thank you for these videos!
I was just thinking about my dehydrated skin an hour ago and Hyram is here to rescue. You're the best!
Now I use CeraVe's face creams for normal to dry skin, and my skin just feels so much better.
who else wants hyram to make a vid where he talks about good cruelty free skincare brands to purchase from bc allot of the brands he recommends are not cruelty free???
understanding how to hydrate my skin and how to use my moisturizer has changed my skin. Took me 47 years to learn lol... Never too late ! Thank you for your videos

Thanks for the info !

Which oil did you use
I'm writing this down bc I have seb derm, pityrosporum folliculitis, and dehydrated skin. I have such a hard time using any oil or any moisturizers, but the fungal acne treatment (even Vanicream) absolutely fries my hair, scalp, and face. I didn't know it was damaging the barrier. Fungal acne is a pain!
Hyram, you are literally the best!!! You can so simply solve any freaking misconception about skin within a second! Why need a dermatologist to loot our money when an honest specialist like you exists! :)))

Thank you for the information! It's always been hard for me to understand how someone can be oily but dehydrated.
The aesthetician told me that the Vichy is actually a skincare booster to make of the skincare routine work better.
I hate the Vichy products. Doesn’t work on my oily skin

Check her out)
Ooh I love the Vichy 89 serum! I’ve finished a full bottle and bought a second
My dry/dehydrated skincare routine based on the knowledge I’ve learned from Hyram, Cassandra, and Dr, Dray:
*Morning*
Splash water on face (no cleansing)
Inkey list Polyglutamic acid
Inkey list Coffee eye cream
Isntree hyaluronic acid gel cream
*Nighttime*
Double cleanse: inkey Oat Cleansing Balm then Cerave hydrating cleanser
Inkey list hyaluronic acid
Ordinary Niacinamide_Zinc
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream
With this routine I’ve repaired my skin barrier and reduced breakouts!
Don’t come at me for not having sunscreen on my morning routine, still trying to figure out the best one for me! ☀️

Wish I discovered you sooner in my life honostly. I made so much mistakes I wont even mention. Bingewatching your channel to learn, improve and glow. Thank you!!
I just got the Vichy serum the other day because of your video and so far I love it!!
