i have the same issue as i bought the maxisys ultra, i thought i can program all cars with the tool but later i realize it was for bmw and mercedes online and now my tool sitting somewhere, i have now come across ur video and trying to learn from it

Meaning can i run Ford, GM Chrysler, Honda, Toyota TIS software on one computer? i was thinking of a Tough Book Panasonic Toughbook CF-19, but will i need to purchase a few? . I was told Toyota TIS only runs on windows 200 and XP.

I bought maxi flash elite J2534 in order to reflash ( reprogram) the PCM. which software should i download from ford website? IDS or FJDS/FRDS? what is your recomendation about? Hey mate, I'm looking at purchasing a Maxisys Pro in the near future, I deal with alot of Australian 2006/2007 3.6L VZ Commodore ECM (PCM) failures and cant find a defiantive answer if the Maxisys can unlink and re-program these into a new vehicle (ECM/PCM to PIM link). Any info you could give me on this would be very much appreciated. *I should add that i'm talking about fitting used (unlinked) ECM's from the same make and model, not programming a new blank unit.*

From what I hear the Autel Elite J2535 doesn't work with most dealer programming softwares. I had it showing connected in a PC and had JLR SDD opening and working, but it could never see the Autel J2534. Several people who program a lot said despite Autels claims, their cable doesn't work with the majority of dealer PC softwares.
What is your take on that?
Not to hate pn the j2534 unit but how do we benefit from buying this when most websites sell new ecm units already programmed and ready to go? It seems like if I buy it which I really want to it will only pay off for me when I do used ecm programming in which very low odds of programming with success.

What is the difference between this j box and an open port cable?
In this sense, for the future, Pleaseeeeee... make in your videos a clearer distinction between the application SW (OBD2 app or SW implementing the services running on the any Scan Tool), the firmware SW (sw runs on J2543 adaptor for example..), real embedded software (to be flashed on any vehicle ECU) and calibrations file (adaptation data or parameters file also to be flashed)... and than it will be clear for everibody what is the difference between programing, flashing, calibrating etc... Thanks!!

So can you use the jbox through a ms906ts
Hyundai HMA site has a list of verified J2534 box that their software support. The list does not include Autel J2534 box. Same for Toyota (as of today 2/29/2020). Kurt, am I wrong?
HI Derek.. If you look at all the oem sites the only one that verifies the Autel j box is nissan. It doesnt mean its not going to work. All it means is if you have an issue with connecting to the OEM, they wont support the non verified units. So its important who ever you decide to purchase the j box from they have the authority to give software updates when there is a connectivity issue. I just programmed Hyundai with a client last month.

Hi Curtis, inquiring minds would also like to know if you could re-flash fresh OE Autel Firmware back into an Autel Maxi Sys Pro for the $200.99 to get a broken Maxi Sys App to not close out after 20 seconds and work again providing they have a Backup of the Scan Folder created just before update period was up?
Also if the MS908SP, uses the same charger, adapters, and Maxi Flash Elite J2534 as the older MS908P , can users of a regular MS908P (that have the newer MaxiFlash Elite) buy just the MS908SP without, case adapters, charger , and Jbox and save themselves a $1000 or more to be around $1800 (or about same you want for the MS906BT)?
1FNJO very difficult to understand your question. You need to have a subscription to refresh your tablet with current software. If the app crashes or closes down you have to do a factory restore and have a subscription to reload the auto software.
@@weldingjunkie, I ultimately bought an Update and had to send in myMS908P and they re-flashed firmware. I used MS908P for another six months then sold it used off E-Bay with the remaining six months of updates and support left. I bought a new MaxiSys Elite on sale from a USA dealer for less than 3K and it actually came with the larger 64gb internal flash, included a little illuminated VCI 100, Chrysler 8 + 12 , BMW F adapter, and 2 years of updates.
At the time, since I already had the MS908P kit already with a working Maxi Flash Elite, so I was just exploring the option of the possibility of Curtis having a special relationship with Autel, being able to obtain only the newer upgraded 64gb MS908 SP Tablet with full Autel warranty and updates and be a Client of Curtis, and keep my cost down to $1800 (or what Curtis was selling a complete MS906BT for at the time)

What if you are putting in a used pcm, would this count as a 'blank' module? Or would the scanner be able to configure it to the new car's VIN?
Can you update modules with the scanner?
Hi YDK. If its a used pcm it is not a "BLANK" module. It has an existing operating system in it and vin number that would need to be changed to the car original vin. The autel will geneally be able to write a VIN on used modules. But if its new from the dealer it will need to be programmed with the j2534. Thanks

I do a lot of work with 4x4s and aftermarket modifications. Is tuning a factory ECU considered coding or programming according to Autel?
This is what I call ECU manipulation. Its different than programming and coding.
So I can recode my CLK550 with the tablet to increase my governor to 155?
You need to verify with the engineer by the VIN number. I can check for you but I charge. You can try to contact autel new york to verify.

Is this Autel Maxiflash Elite J2534 programming device can do backup like for DDEC IV/V Detroit ECU incase the original will damage then I can use the backup for a new ECU.
I dont think so because the Manufactures software doesnt have that option.. The j2534 is just passing through data. Think of it like a bridge

whats a decent budget friendly laptop for ECU programming ? i want to be doing honda , toyota and nissan. i know ill most likely need more than one laptop. i just want to see what some budget friendly laptops i can choose from for now until i can get something of quality.

Okay, Just a off the key question, is it possible to say copy unit/module program from a operation system and store this program for later use????? Say 'airbag module', copy info/program and use should you need to change the module at a later date, almost cloning your vehicle. ??????
Not with the Autel. When you are programming the files are vin specific from the OEM sites. So even if you were able to save the file.. it wouldnt be configured for other vehicle. Most of the time when your programming the software goes directly into the module. Its not a file that you can save on your PC

It will work but most OEM software are not officially compatible with windows 11

Hi Guy. For programming from the tablet you can only do it for BMW and benz. All the other manufactures you need to do it with the j2534

Hey Josh, Unfortunately not. The strength of the MX808 is reading and erasing codes. The coding is limited and there is no programming. Stage 3 tools do flash programming. The MX808 is a stage 1

ali naser you can program Chrysler with a laptop and J box yes. Witech is a whole diff program for programming. You have to use j box with a subscription through the OE website
It works for Chyrlser.. I use it all the time. ( Autel Maxisflash j2534)

Important information, even the J2435 does not do programming like the functions and features of the OE device. Hi Curtis I have the ms908 and I've been looking into programming modules (blanks) from main dealer now I heard that you can program only program with Windows 10 but I've seen other people programming blank modules through ms908p with j box on there tablet what I would like to know is if I purchase the j box would I be able to program on my ms908?
Hey Paul. I hope your doing well. The only time you are able to do programming with the tablet is with BMW and BENZ since Autel has their calibration files hosted on Autels servers. All of the other OEMS you need the windows 10 set up. I know a few years ago AUTEL used to have programming for the tablet for GM . But GM sued Autel and they stopped this feature ( but there are vides of people doing this still on youtube). So now in order to do programming you need the j2534 and the windows 10 laptop. You dont use your scanner at all.

Yes but general information is what screws over people because the read this and have the same misconseption. When you have a time take a look at the first couple seconds of this video ua-cam.com/video/5bFDzPY1L_I/v-deo.html .. I get calls like this all the time.
You can for BMW and BENZ but people get the misconseption that you can do it for all vehicles.
Can you use this with Autel MP808 MaxiSys Pro?
MP808 And MS908P ( Maxisys Pro ) are 2 different tools. The Maxisys Pro comes with the j2534. The MP808 is a stage 1 tool. When you do j2534 programming you dont use the scanner at all.

Generally speaking yes but I wont know for sure until I read the service information.

Can you direct me to one of the clients you are PIMP 'n near me in Salt Lake? I have a flood damaged 2018 ford focus with 28,000 miles that only starts in neutral, has no reverse, drives only 50 feet at a time. I also have a 2015 focus with 83,000 miles with rough shifting that needs the latest TCM software calibration update as well as needing the TCM adaptive learning tables cleared.

@@ashleyadair5177 Hi Ashley. This is what I recommond. If you feel that your never going to get these programming issues again ( or 1 every 4-6 months) then its ok to outsource it the job. I dont know the average cost of programming in your area but you might pay 300-500 usd in programing fees. But if you think longterm and want to keep this operation in house.. Then it would be a good idea to get a J Box and learn the skills to solve this problem. I am the type of person that doesnt like outsourcing anything. Thats how I got into programming because I got tired of my clients sending their cars to the dealer. If you have 2k to invest in this skill set I think its worth it..Because if you think about it... even if I did refer you to one of my clients.. they are just going to call me up and I am basically going to walk the through the programming. Why dont you do this? Unless you want to do it yourslef? If you never done programming I can see why you might be intimidated. But I do programming every other day so I can speed up your learning curve. Its a mindset!

I paid 2082 pounds for an Autel MK908 pro with the J2534, I ran something called GC Cleaner and now all the cars are gone and all the apps are gone. I have to buy a TCP card to fix it I cannot believe the way I have been left with a useless tablet unbelievable...
Who ever gave you instructions to do that needs to be reported. You have to purchase the update card unfortunately..

@@jmcsoccer7 Hey FMC , Generally speaking yes you can but those functions are vehicle specific. I offer a service to my clients where I can validate any function on the vehicle so they will know ahead of time if that function is there. My advice to you is if you want to purchase your tool from a vendor make sure they can provide that service for you. Otherwise you will waist time hoping if a feature is there when its not. Thanks

yeah the snapon guys don't tell you this because they just want to sell. Once they sell you something and you need to replaced due to defected part or still under warranty, they back up and tell you that what you have buy don't have warranty no more. SnapOn is a ripoff

HI Cornel , It seems like you answered your own question regarding the differences. Im going to disagree with on on this topic as you actually wont know what the procedure is until you research what the OEM says .
Depending on the module / manufacture.. It may need to be relearned , configured , adapted, calibrated, adjusted, synced etc.
For the sake of simplicity I use the term CODING to clearly decipher the difference between programming. Then when we research the whole procedure , the OEM service informatoin will inform us what needs to be done after program the module. It will say if it needs to be relearned, set up , configured , etc.
Im not saying my way is the absolute correct way. But it helps my clients easily and they understand the differences that will allow them to get them the results they are looking for. And thats all I care about
OK I can use autel flasher interface to program ...nissan,chrysler,Hyundai. ..the autel interface with laptop and .....etc..you can not used just for ..gm,bmw,volvo
So only gm, bmw and Volvo dose not support autel j2534

I was a little more then disappointed after buying my Autel because it doesn’t program or skim a module and put the info into your new part you’d putting in your car. Another useless scanner my mk808ts is. I’m kind of disappointed. Your company like many others are taking advantage of the public and those that help others with their auto issues. I help the poor with their vehicles but I don’t have the money to keep buying all these expensive scan tools and then buy programming j tools.

Avoid autel tablets and its j2534 for American car manufacturers . It won't help you. The maxiflah j2534 doesn't work with gm sps programming.

Hey 7D, Im going to upload a video soon of one of my clients who hired me to teach him how to use the tool properly for GM programmng. Its very difficult to learn how to do this on your own. I do alot of programming on GM and its pretty easy once you have the right foundation
If you pay $3000.00 for this machine. It shouldn't be this difficult to use and you shouldn't have to buy more services just to get it to work... And all those cool looking adapters . i.e. Gm , Audi , Bmw, Mercedes, are for OBD 1 only. What a big scam....
Hi Tony, One of my mentors told me something ill never forget.. its not the tool that is the problem.. its the person using the tool that is the problem. I would change your mindset because if you think this is complicated ( which its not) you havent seen the complexity of new vehicles. Its only going to get worse from here ( for people who dont embrace the technology)

When you install a PCM or pretty much any module, the manufacturers never say the module is "plug and play" Maybe for older vehicles this was the case but for newer vehicles you have to do programming / coding in order to configure the module. I dont think you should focus your complaint on the tool. You need to focus your complaint to the manufacture as they are the ones making the vehicles comlplex with all the coding and programming procedures. This is why I say if you have a finger and you can read, you can do programming and coding. If your able to get the information / procedures from the OEM then you can get your scan tool and follow the oem instructions on how to configure the vehicle with your scan tool. I dont know your process on how you fix cars but many of my clients use this process and are able to get results. Its really a mind set in my opinion. If you say its complex then it is. If you say its not complex then it is.
@@AutelConsultancy I was able to use the computer to energies the abs motor and bleed the brakes after replacing rusted lines going to abs motor.. So , I got some use from the tool . I was not able to program a 2007 Hyundai Santa fe key fob though
